Bandai Namco has finally uploaded an official version of the new Digimon Survive trailer to YouTube.
In case you missed it, this is the latest look at the survival strategy RPG that's been repeatedly delayed over the past few years.
The latest setbacks are tied to the fact there's currently a new development team working on the game. The good news is that a release is apparently getting closer now and fans will only have to wait "a little longer".
Here's exactly what producer Kazumasa Habu had to say in the most recent development update (via Gematsu):
“In response to our call for inquiries, we’ve received a number of questions regarding the development status of Digimon Survive. We’re very sorry for keeping you waiting even though you’re looking forward to it. We apologize again for not providing any new information and / or keeping you waiting. We sincerely apologize for the delay.
“As we’ve already informed you, once we postponed the release due to a change in the development team, and that we are now developing the game with a new development team. Changing teams has led to a lot of rework on the game, leading to delays. This has caused a lot of uncertainty that prevented us from giving regular updates. However, thanks to the efforts of the new development team, we are now able to be back on track, getting closer and closer to the completion of the game.
“As for the release date information, it is expected to take a little longer as we’re still adjusting it internally. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. But we would appreciate it if you could wait just a little longer.”
Fingers crossed we perhaps finally see this one in 2022. What are your own thoughts of the above trailer though? How about the ongoing delays? Tell us in the comments below Digimon fans.

I've been waiting a little bit longer for 3 years now.
Just a little longer huh? great can't wait to play it in the year 4086 when my earthly remains are nothing but dust.
Labramon reminds of the one dog in the pound from Lady and the Tramp.
So it's a tactical turn base game, that's nice, more tactic game for us tactic RPG fans.
Lol this game has to be realllllyyyyy.... Good after waiting this long 😛 (no pressure lol)
Doubt itll ever come out at this point. Its been nothing but where sorry wait a little longer since its original announcement
@Williamfuchs420 Yeah also it was only 5 months ago that the game was delayed and the same guy said it was to just enhance game quality: as if the game just needed last bits of polish.
“To Digimon fans patiently awaiting Digimon Survive, first of all, we’d like to thank you for your continued patience and support for Digimon Survive in 2021. Our original goal was to launch Digimon Survive in 2021. However, due to the need to allocate more time to development, it is necessary to move the game’s release date to 2022.”
At this point he's stringing players along.Considering he's lied like three times now,
The original goal was 2019 not 2021 like he claimed.
When he said the delay to 2022 was for quality it actually was to change dev team and rework the games mechanics.
When he said we'd already been informed the dev team changed causing delays...we hadn't.
@Dr_Lugae definitely fishy as hell. And i doubt the game will be so good that it justifies all this wait
Just give another Digimon Story game. Don't like these T-RPGs one bit.
I'm still cautiously optimistic for this one, though at this point I'll wait for reviews when (and if) this fully materializes. Typically I'm not bothered by delays if they result in a better game, but troubled dev cycles don't always bode well either.
Me, seeing the cover image: Persona 5?!
Me, realizing it's Digimon: Oh, that hasn't been cancelled?
Found out this was mostly a visual novel and all my hype fell through. I do want it to release though, this game has been what, three years in the making?
@Sora181 I felt the same. I was really thinking it was going to be more of a Digimon World style game, it still looks good though but I think I'll wait for it to go on sale first.
I was really excited for this, but now I'm concerned.
I like all the character and digimon designs, and I like tactical games so I'm good with the playstyle. It also seems darker which is cool.
But it pretty much sounds like they scrapped most of the original game and started over with a new team :/ So all that time before was mostly for nothing. Why did this happen? Was it originally not a good game?
I'm worried now they'll rush it just to get something released and it won't be good. There's no way it can live up to expectations with the time that has passed. Everything about it seems so vague, like they're not even sure what the game is. It seems likely the Digimon you use may be pretty limited.
I think we'll be lucky to see it in 2023, or it may just finally quietly disappear.
Whelp, Cyber Sleuth is on a good sale so picking that one up finally.
