The third-party video game giant Electronic Arts - known for franchises like Battlefield, Need for Speed and FIFA - will apparently be skipping its annual 'EA Play Live' event this year.
In a statement provided to IGN, an EA representative said the company would reveal its next projects when the "time is right":
"We love EA Play Live as it's our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren't lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!"
EA originally kicked off its 'Play Live' format back in 2016, and when the pandemic hit, it was turned into a stream with a series of spotlight events. Last year's broadcast featured games like GRID, Apex Legends, Lost in Random, Knockout City, Battlefield 2042 and even Dead Space.
If we hear any developments, we'll be sure to let you know.

Hooray... who cares.
Busy being acquired?
Good riddance.
Noooooooooooooooooo! We won’t get an update on all the new additions in madden 23.
What do you mean it is just the same game as last year?
I'm waiting for The Sims 5 from EA.
"Will reveal more about <new> games "when the time is right""
In another words, never, XD
One can argue that this isn't even newsworthy on a Nintendo site considering that EA have repeatedly demonstrated little to no interest in the Switch, and their only release this year, if any, is likely to be FIFA 23: Legacy Edition.
Who cares to be honest?
All we are gonna get is FIFA 23 Legacy Edition
@Silly_G exactly right, my friend!!!
Unless they are bringing fight night round 4 to the switch I could care less
@Silly_G
I suppose that lack of interest from EA increases the level of interest for opportunities to... "call out" EA, to put it nicely? Anything that seems to be competing against Nintendo or has neglected Nintendo seems to make it on here for the purpose of "hating" them.
"When the time is right"
So never then.
and nothing of value was lost
Oh no, no news about (Sports name here) 2023?! I'm sure they've put in lots of work and improved them so much! /s
Maybe they are hiding their head in the sand after the flop that was the new Battlefield?
Thank goodness.
EA peaked in 2021 with It Takes Two and now they're desperately trying to think of another good non-sports game.
I totally misunderstood this from the title. I thought it said EA skipping this year. That made me rather confused.
No great loss!
I’ve reached the point where whenever I fire up an old game and the EA logo pops up I am genuinely surprised and realise I haven’t seen that logo in a game for so long. They basically gave me my PC flightsim era through the Janes Combat Sims series.
Why don't they just run last years video and tell people to add one to the number on the end of the name.
Removed - unconstructive
EA's Switch games lineup was leaked online. A whole lot of nothing and FIFA 15: Next Year Addition.
Didn’t they did this before but still reveal their games?
I've never watched a single one of their presentations aside from one or two snoozefests they called E3 presentations so I couldn't care less to be honest.
Call me when they find the soul they lost a long time ago.
"An EA representative said the company would reveal its next projects when the 'time is right'."
Translation: When EA has figured out how to provide less but sell you more.
Most of EA's in-development games (Dead Space Remake, Mass Effect 5, Need for Speed, Dragon Age 4, Skate 4, etc) are all due next year or later. Even if they wanted to have an event, nothing is ready to show.
And nothing of value was lost.
oh..this thing
@Magician
There was rumor that MS holds its own thing in summer, maybe EA will be there?
@Justifier Perhaps, I don't pretend to know for certain.
