Exciting news, JoJo fans! Bandai Namco has announced JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R. It's a remaster of the 2013/14 game and will include 50 characters from all arcs of the series.
The character styling stays true to the manga artist Hirohiko Araki, and the voice actors from the anime series will return.
In terms of gameplay, this new version introduces a revamped and improved combat system - upping the tempo with hit stops, dashes and intricate new combos. There's an all-new "support attack" tag-team battle system as well.
Game modes include arcade, online, versus, practice and gallery. The main mode offers more than 100 different battles, and the game will also include a range of customisable and collectible skins, along with unique illustrations that players can unlock.
Here's a history lesson for anyone not familiar with the source material:
"First introduced in 1987 and adapted to anime in 2012, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is best known for its charismatic heroes who drop unforgettable catchphrases and perform over-the-top moves as they pummel each other using martial arts and supernatural skills. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is the biggest game ever in the franchise, bringing together 50 characters from every story arc. Players can experience popular battles from each story and see heroes from different universes interact for the first time, playing as Jonathan Joestar, DIO, Jotaro Kujo, Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of Jotaro and the first-ever female JoJo in the series, and many more."
This upcoming fighter from Bandai Namco will arrive on the Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms in "early Fall" 2022. Is this a game you'll be checking out on release? Tell us down below.

Is this... a Jojo reference?
You expected a comment, but it was me...DIO!
The PS3 version is a rare game now, but getting the costumes in it is a pain in the ass.
A new version without needing to do that, tag mechanics and more characters is right up my alley.
Lol this does or does not have the obnoxious teeny bopper pop star person thingy with the oversized bows on the side of her head?
HAMON OVERDRIVE!!!
ORAORAORAORAORA!
Screaming muscle men ahoy!

YOU'RE WELCOME.
I'll pick it up. I'm especially looking forward to playing characters from Parts 2 and 4, my favorite parts.
Wow, I really didn't think we would get it on the switch this soon, welp, time to OrdaOrdaOrdaOrdaOrda.
Yare yare da wa…
Another game I need to buy this year 😅
yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
Not the JoJo game I had in mind but yeah I'll take it. Hopefully Capcom and Namco agree to bring the classic one back too.
Only a JoJo fan will snicker at how JoJo and DIOField Chronicles were announced on the same day for Switch.
THE WORLD!
That's no NintendoLife article....it's a STAAAANNNNDD!!!!
So the original had 41 characters with dlc, so this adds another 9, if I'm correct. I'd say mostly cast from part 7 and 8. Could the Head Doctor be one? I dunno. Part 8 was ultimately a letdown, one of the worst, shame as it had the potential to be a better one but it dropped the ball
@syrupdash No, the comment section is!
INSTANT BUY!!!!!!!!!! CANT WAIT!!!!!!
Nice!
interesting, maybe I will buy it even though I don't know much about Jojo.
So basically
Bandai Namco is porting like any fighting game they could to Switch but we still haven't even gotten Tekken yet of any kind!!!
It is simply sad how bad State of Plays are compared to Nintendo Directs. I don't think I will bother watching another one.
@anoyonmus We still hadn't gotten a Soul Calibur yet either. I know the series is dwindling but I still want to play some of the classic ones too.
@Specter_of-the_OLED that too
Like, Bandai doesn't have to port Tekken 7 to Switch. They could port Tekken Tag Tournament from the Wii U or Tekken 6 to Switch. Why can't they do that?
FINALLY! JOJO FIGHTING GAME ON NINTENDO SWITCH! I very hope this one will look good in handheld/undocked, unlike other 3D-fightings on Switch - Samurai Spirits/Shodown looks horrible in undocked mode, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy looks horrible in undocked mode, Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash looks horrible in undocked mode... And many others, non-fighting games looks bad/awful/horrible in undocked/handheld mode. Really - did developers forget about Switch Lite users and OG Switch handheld/undocked mode only users?! Sigh I hope that at least JoJo will look good in undocked mode... Am I asking too much?!
@DsheroX i don't know how they would make the main villain of part 8 work, honestly. my only thought was he works on like, opposite of guilty gear rules, where things just get worse the more you aggressively chase him
@somebread Araki didn't know how to make him work so... yeah maybe a character that has weak but constant ranged attacks that make you approach, but if you approach he gets powered up. But if he approaches he does not. Alternatively, in a simpler way, he could just have weird scenario attacks that are just references to scenes and don't do anything like what he could really do in combat
Like what I see
@DsheroX yeah I think the most obvious/realistic solution would be "counter character" but that's so lame
i dont want anything from namco but a tekken, soul calibur, ridge racer, or ace combat game on switch.
edit - I'll take the new klonoa compilation otw ☺️
bandai is like the unlikeable boy/girlfriend that married our friend namco and now they never get to hang out or do anything cool anymore.
@Vyacheslav333 I don't get why SNK is so thrill to want to turn their franchise into 3D all of a sudden nowadays. Most of their games ran very clunky in 3D.
Etika's reaction to this would've been good😭
@PtM Check out some old reviews because it is a 10 year old game at this point. The fighting wasn't great, but as a representation of JoJo and its characters it was great. Sounds like they're improving the gameplay in this version though so fingers crossed.
Played the original back then, sadly it's a pretty bad fighter overall. Plus, the international localisation makes it borderline impossible to enjoy. The name changes are just asinine.
So as much as i love the IP, it's a hard pass.
Sadly one of the most unfun fighters i've played :/
Ha ha. Love the anime and love 2D fighters. It therefore follows.....
A probable insta-buy
Hope I can play as the old man
@TheStardustWarrior Yeah. He's my favorite character lol
So I'm the only person who's never even heard of JoJo before.
Can't say I particularly liked the styling, and with soooo many other fighters swishing about in my game library now I'm not sure I'm gonna give this much attention.
So glad this is coming for ZA WARUDO to enjoy. Day one buy for me.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Well... They wanted to ride on a 3D-Hype train, so they decided to continue making successors to their cult(2D) games, but in 3D/2.5D. KOF XIV looks not bad, KOF XV looks very good, Samurai Spirits/Shodown (2019) looks pretty good with it's 3D cell-shading graphics, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy looks a bit better than KOF XIV. I don't think that the SNK will make 3D successors to their other 2D games. Metal Slug, for example. They tried once with the 3D Metal Slug game for PS2, but after this... We didn't seen other(or just big) 3D Metal Slug game. Also, SNK released quite a small amount of 3D games in overall. Oh, I even remembered now about the existence of Samurai Spirits Zen(or Sen?)... Which was a bad and disappointing game. Well, let's forget about the existence of this game one more time...
It's a real fighting game or it's just another naruto reskin?
I gotta say it, I thought the new strategy game from Square-Enix would be a returning IP, but SE said "It was me, Diofield!" which sounds like it might spark inspiration in someone to draw fan art of Garfield wearing Dio's clothes.
@Oppyz666 it's tekken style
@GraphicJon
Really? Maybe it's time to sell my copy of it. I've been a huge JoJo manga and anime fan since 2012 but All-Star Battle just wasn't my thing.
I donno much about the anime, I'm not really into that stuff but I did have this game on the PS3 and despite not really having any idea on what was going on with some of the character moves and whatever I did quite enjoy this one nonetheless, the soundtrack and presentation were both really nice as well, Honestly I might even consider buying this one again.
@Luffymcduck Prices for the NA version are at least the ones that are spiked https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=jojo+all+star+battle&_sacat=0
@GraphicJon Yeah UK version has always been cheaper. I remember when it was the Bandai Store that only had pre orders for it.
