We've heard previously how Goichi 'Suda51' Suda is a Marvel fan and would "love" to work on one of the company's video game projects, and it seems there have been some developments.
In a recent interview with Japanese publication Automaton, the director of No More Heroes III was asked about Grasshopper Manufacture's plans for the next 10 years and revealed the studio had been in talks with Marvel.
Here's the full comment from Suda, courtesy of VGC:
“From now on, we’d like to create three new IPs and launch them one by one.
“However, we have also said that we would like to make IPs that are based on attractive original works, if there are any. I think that will depend on the discussions we have with Marvel Studios. If Marvel Studios comes up with something good, we’ll think about it.”
He then joked: “I’m sorry, I was saying that from the top down, I’m just kidding.
“But we’ve had a few meetings with Marvel, and we’ve talked about the possibility of working together on something. We hope that the power of video games will help to boost these opportunities."
Last April, during a chat with IGN Japan, Suda mentioned how he would be interested in working on a Marvel game featuring a character like Deadpool:
"But [in terms of] the kind of things I’d love to do, I’d also love to work with Marvel on a Shatterstar or Deadpool game, something sort of Grasshopper-y like that. Maybe a Quicksilver title of some sorts. So, Marvel, you know."
Activision also previously approached him about a Deadpool game, but plans fell through.
In somewhat related news, last October, Grasshopper Manufacture announced it had joined the Chinese video game giant, NetEase - the same company that's teamed up with Monkey Ball And Yakuza Creator Toshihiro Nagoshi.
Would you like to see a company like Grasshopper Manufacture release a Marvel game one day? Leave your thoughts below.

I can't possibly imagine this happening, or at least in a way Suda would be remotely happy with.
I could see Suda doing a pretty wild Deadpool or Silver Surfer game.
The real story is his No More Heroes x Unknown Pleasures shirt. Now that’s pretty cool.
A Shatterstar game would be fantastic though, give the little guys their time in the sun. It would be criminal not to have his relationship with Rictor explored in other media.
@Wilforce No More Heroes is literally already the best Deadpool game series, let's be honest.
I'm surprised Nintendo didn't offer him to work on Ultimate Alliance 3. It's really a shame that the game has been completely forgotten.
Worst casting ever by Marvel, Suda51 doesn't even look like Emma Frost!
I could see him doing Deadpool for sure
So it's going to be called a little bit more amazing spectacular ultimate incredible invincible fantastic uncanny heroes, and villains too. Woo. maybe...
Not related to this article specifically, but does the text jump around for anyone else when trying to read Nintendo Life articles these days?
It never used to happen, but it’s now happening on every single article. It’s the adverts loading in and out constantly. It happens on Eurogamer articles too.
I’m not against adverts, but please don’t let them make text jump around, it’s really off putting.
unpopular opinion:
I really do not want Suda 51 to work with Marvel.
They would lock him into a suffocating contract, and then stifle his creative vision as much as they could.
I don’t think his style translate well to english. Especially to an already established IP.
I want a No More Heroes comic series more than I want a Suda Deadpool game tbh.
@CharlieGirl That’s not really how games studios work at all. Marvel don’t lock these people into contracts. And also devs like Insomniac were given a blank cheque so clearly they don’t interfere much.
@CharlieGirl yes, because thats totally what happened with Guardians of the Galaxy.....or Spider-Man.........or Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
I can’t imagine this being more than a Travis Strikes Back size game. Would be an interesting little title if it happened.
But then there are heroes, so the name of the game would be an oxymoron.
This kind of makes sense, since James Gunn worked on Lollipop Chainsaw (wrote most of the script for it).
@Asaki Dude if he and Suda got back together again just to make a marvel game that would be awesome.
So sick of Marvel. Would much rather have original IPs.
I wouldn’t trust him with any key IPs.
It's just... has he made any games that could be considered 'good' really? I don't understand the hype
