It appears Switch fans of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will have to wait a little bit longer for the free 'Card Warriors' game update.
While it was scheduled to arrive on Nintendo's hybrid platform before the end of this year, Bandai Namco has postponed its release until 2022. In an update on the Dragon Ball video game Twitter account earlier this month, Bandai Namco said its rollout had been delayed due to development schedule adjustments.
Here's the message in full:
[Card Warriors for DBZK Nintendo Switch version] The free update "Card Warriors" for "DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT + A New Power Awakens Set" for Nintendo Switch, scheduled this Autumn will be postponed due to an adjustment of the development schedule.
We apologize for the inconvenience to those who have been waiting for the release of Card Warriors. The team is currently working diligently on the development, and we thank you for your patience. Please wait for additional information regarding the specific date.
We thank you for your continued support for DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT.
As noted, additional information regarding a specific release date for the card expansion will be released in the near future. For now, here's a look at what you can expect from this update when it does eventually arrive on Switch:
If you haven't given this game a go yet, there's a demo available to download from the Nintendo Switch eShop. Will you be checking this free update out when it is released? Leave a comment down below.

I mean, Thats not a huge loss is it?
(idk if the card game is any good, but never really heard anyone talk about it)
fighterz continues to skate by as the only one of the three current games not to have deckbuilder mechanics weaselled in
Wait... THERES GONNA BE A CARD GAME IN DRAGON BALL KAKAROT?!?
A (what seems to be) good game is becoming even better.😃
P.S I like card games.😅
Huh. I recently bought the game but wasn't aware this card game update was coming. Neat! Probably won't play this much bit I might take a small dip in it to try it out.
Nothing of value would be lost if it didn't come at all to be fair.
Adding a strictly online multiplayer MTX laden card game to a strictly single player action RPG that desperately lacked endgame content (that it never got) was a pretty catastrophic failure only made worse that it also encountered months(!) of server outages after launch.
The base game was a fantastic time, but its DLC and MTX stuff is among the worst of the worst.
I didn't even realize that thing exist until now, should had stay gone. Nobody will miss it anyways.
And for free?
Looks like a fun update!
ok that's fine just got the game for Christmas and slowly playing through it probably won't play the card game but I'll try it when it's out
Been playing this over the Christmas weekend...much better than I thought it would be. I would rather see another actual story based DLC update, like the Trunks: Warrior of Hope campaign.
But hey, free is free.
@Einherjar They could use a couple more story based arcs for DLC, and maybe create a vs mode or mode where you can use the other non main characters
@Bizzyb Both "A New Power Awakens" DLC are completely worthless as they aren't even built into the game itself, they have to be selected from the menu.
Thus, they also don't have any story, they can't, because you can select them as soon as you start the game.
They are basically a glorified EXP farm.
The last story DLC is the biggest joke however. The game is called "DBZ: Kakarot" and they picked the one side story where Goku doesn't even exist anymore. Even when dead, he always played a key role. In this sidestory, he's just gone, with a focus solely on Trunks.
The whole DLC lot was such a misdirected mess it's unbelievable.
@Einherjar Probably because it's Trunks story...? Not sure why Goku would be the main focus when even in the original Trunks movie the DLC is based off of he wasn't.
@YugamiSekai Again, the game is literally called "DBZ: Kakarot" and focuses on, you guessed it, Goku (Kakarot) and his family.
You could have added fan favorites like Bardok, Broly, an episode featuring the underworld tournament.
There is so many stuff you could have added that was relevant to Goku.
"Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and also Trunks"
