Now that Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series has joined the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster as the final DLC fighter, the development of the all-star brawler is officially complete.
Sadly, the new events may be coming to an end. While weekly events will still be a thing, from 19th November 2021 (next week), it seems Nintendo will also be repeating older events.
This leads us to what could be one of the last new events later this week on 12th November - themed around stages where you fight on a vehicle. The more you win, the better spirits that can be unlocked.
Will you be participating in this final new event for Smash Bros. Ultimate? Comment down below.

Honestly I was half expecting a few more Spirit Events over the course of the next few months from a skeleton crew at Sora as they move to new projects.
Thanks, Disney!!!
Still kind of a bummer we didn't get a new mode at least, but oh well; it was good while it lasted.
Noooo! My Nahobino spiriiiiit!!!
It's kind of a weird theme for the final event. Doubly so because it's the only one based on stages, and there's a lot more they could have done.
Is it possible that there will still be new events alongside reruns?
Not surprising, I think Nintendo is eager to move on from smash for a while, I'm glad they aren't stopping the events completely
Nintendo released one final update for Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Nintendo also wrapped up Smash Bros DLC and Smash Bros events.
It feels like Nintendo is starting to wind down the Switch, and there's two years left in strong Nintendo support, at most.
And that makes me sad.
I'm not ready to shell out $300+ for a new Nintendo system yet, nor am I ready to let go of the console/handheld hybrid.
Well gives people a second chance to play. Not everyone is a day one player.
@CharlieGirl it feels like the end of an era. I think they are moving on from the first half of the Switches life cycle to the second. A lot of Pillars from the first 4 years are either going dark with major updates (Smash, Animal Crossing) being updated(BoTW, Pokemon, NSO/ SM35 content, Splatoon) or just being replaced by other IP(Kirby, Metroid Prime(one day) Advance Wars) seems like Nintendo is turning its eyes to the future with new titles and optimized(botw 2, Splatoon 3,Pokémon Legends, hopefully MK9 and another 3D Mario) sequels
They better make that one event where you got to fight with your amiibo a full on mode
@CharlieGirl I’m thinking they’ll treat the Switch like an IPhone and we’ll get another revision within 2 years. Something specifically for docked players. A power upgrade like the New 3DS.
They've milked this game for years and years. I can't believe they've kept it in the forefront since astral chain, fe3h, and dx machina we're unveiled.
Old events coming back after a game reaches the end of its content lifecycle? Sounds awfully familiar coming from Nintendo. I honestly don't appreciate it, but at least this time, it's not as bad.
I tune in more often for the events occasionally adding new spirits anyway - and I wouldn't be surprised if they lasted a good while longer since they typically aim to promote other new Switch releases. The game's attachment rate sure seems to encourage it, too. With stuff like BotW2, Pokemon Legends, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Bayonetta 3 (just to name a few known ones), the sky's the limit.
@SeantheDon29 It's why I went back to brawl not as many stages and characters I know, but there's more to do.
I really miss some more modes in this one. I hope the next smash game brings more modes back. At least a story mode in the style of subspace. I so loved the cutscenes, and adventure style mode.
And also the characters. I hope the existing characters get totally new moves etc.
@YusseiWarrior3000
Nah there def will come a new smash in the future. Smash is a system seller.
If its really over lol i am gonna grab a tissue and wipe those tears hahaha.
@Marioracer Melee's 'break the targets' will be missed greatly, as well as Brawl's 'coin launcher'.
@The-Chosen-one heck, I would've been happy if they would've brought Smash Run from 4 back with more stages and enemies from other Nintendo franchises.
I mean, let's face facts: WOL was nothing more than a giant, glorified Smash Tour map with Event Matches for the spaces and nothing anyone can say will convince me otherwise and it certainly doesn't compare to what SSE was.
@SeantheDon29 I whole heartedly agree.
As a late adopter of smash. About a month or so ago ive managed to collect half the spirits on offer (not including any from the DLC's) i wonder if i will still have the opportunity to obtain all of them or if there will be certain ones i 100% wont be able to get anymore. I wish i got in to it a few years ago.
@CharlieGirl Or they'd like people to focus on another multiplayer title from next year, like Splatoon 3?
Hoping to get the ones I slept on. I think there was some Mario Golf and No More Heroes or something. Either way... There's a long gap in my collection!
I think that we had less modes in this one because Spirits basically replaced them. Mission mode, Master Hand tasks and such wouldn't have made sense, too similar to what Spirits offer. And this one is the more customizable when talking about basic battles. And at least they added throughout updates the Home Run contest and the stage builder.
@Kidfunkadelic83 At the moment the only event Spirits that can't be obtained are the Mario Golf: Super Rush, No More Heroes III and Metroid Dread ones. I have no doubt that they'll be made available again within the next few months.
@Paraka How is Disney related at all? There's no reason to assume that they are somehow responsible for this, is there?
@SeantheDon29 to each their own, but I hated that coin launcher. It was fun at first, but as the primary source of bagging trophies? No thanks. Much prefer Ultimate’s Spirit battles for that sort of thing, even if the Spirits don’t have background text for each one.
@CharlieGirl Nintendo just said that the Switch will go beyond traditional console lifespans. It makes sense to wind down new content on games to focus on new games. They stopped releasing new content for Splatoon 2 and the Switch didn't die...
@Polley001 - You're smarter than that, it was just mockery. Considering Disney's track record for control, and being the last company involved and then all content stops.
I wish I had played a LOT more when all of the events were new, so this is perfectly fine!
I hope this means they will bring back the Sephiroth Challenge event. It would be so epic to do that challenge as Sora.
