About a year ago Sam & Max Save The World was revived and brought to Switch, and the return of Telltale's game was rather good. Now publisher Skunkape has confirmed that it has once again teamed up with Telltale veterans to bring us a remaster of Sam & Max: Beyond Time & Space. It's not far away, either, arriving on the Switch eShop on 8th December.
It looks pretty good in the trailer, and some follow-up social media posts suggest that once again it's been carefully spruced up for a modern audience.
Some of us will recall this was part of the Telltale era of games that graced the Wii, so it's rather nice to see them return for current-gen players to enjoy.
Are you planning to pick this up?

Very nice!! This series has been on my backlog for a long time, hopefully I'll get around to this one sooner than later.

Ooh I loved this season the most, looking forward to replaying it!

Cool! Now let's get Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island over to the Switch.
@MrHonest Yeah I know the censorship is why I didn't buy the remaster before. I'm sure it's relatively minor but I never liked it when people try to "clean up" comedy like that, and I won't support such practices.
As we have seen recently with the GTA "definitive" trilogy, remasters are not always superior experiences.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People too
This came out in the Wii and it was a bit of ropey port even though it was a good game. I hope the Switch version of the remaster is well produced. I liked Sam and Max Season 1 Wii, this game on the Wii & Save The World Switch. Keep them coming.

Finally!!! Gonna wait for that Limited Run physical version tho.

@JayJ Being against censorship wasn't even a political statement, it was just caring about the things you like, and fighting to defend them was an honor.

@MrHonest What if it’s censored because the creators politics have changed? What then?
@faint well that’s their choice.
@MrHonest is it still censorship if the creators of the art make changes?
@faint Yes, self-censorship is a thing after all. It's not like this writing came originally from any game devs anyways, these characters and the writing originally came form Steve Purcell and his Sam and Max comic series.
@nessisonett Well it sounds like you have made your political biases rather obvious.
Always useful to take pause before conflating technical definitions and actual ramifications (removing any text from a work is technically censorship, censorship BAD, ergo it is always and wrong evil thing to remove any text from new versions of any work for any reason). It's niche entertainment media with original versions available. Nobody is being denied access to important truths here.
@CovidBarbie When we had 4Kids Entertainment censoring so many anime series, Sanji sucking on a lollipop instead of smoking a cigarette, the agents in Yu-Gi-Oh pointing their fingers instead of using guns, and Ash, Misty and Brock eating jelly-filled donuts instead of rice balls, I don't remember people who actually enjoy watching anime saying there are more important things to worry about.
I don't remember excuses like "4Kids Entertainment is a private company" either.
Looking forward to this! I'm glad Skunkape didn't alter any dialogue this time around.
@JayJ So, the creators of this game shouldn’t be able to change the writing if they feel different about it because of the source material? Is that what you’re saying?
@MrHonest I don't know what they changed in the game but I highly doubt the reason is either social justice or injustice people getting triggered.
@nessisonett I personally don't think the issue of censorship should be bound to any political affiliation, many people who oppose censorship stand on opposite sides of the spectrum. Either way, the only reason it matters to me is I don't buy the idea of erasing things from the past. If anything, we can look back on it as a window into what once was and see just how much we've changed.
Ah can't wait for this game!
Also, @MrHonest, lurn hoa 2 spel
@Ratchet916 so I guess you are totally against the British state for example when they systematically tried to erase all records of there crimes under the empire in Africa for example. People on the left don't want to erase the past. instead we want to see the end of this whitewashing of certain individuals who in truth were racist, slave traders, war criminals etc etc
@victordamazio Don't waste your time. Her main purpose for being on this site seems to basically amount to antagonising people and clamouring for moral high ground whilst constantly acting just as childish.
I assume the Limited Run release is inevitable, since they sold me this nice slipcase sized for 3 switch games.
I enjoyed dipping my toes into the series with hit the road, so I’m totally on board for this!
@kobashi100 I think you need to reread my comment for clarity, I clearly stated that I was opposed to any and all erasures of history. Also, I clearly stated that people against censorship stand on both sides of the political spectrum and neglected to mention where I stand in that spectrum myself, why did you feel it necessary to speak for "people on the left?" I'm simply speaking on the issue in front of us, changing the dialogue of a game. Unfortunately, the issue of censorship should be a non-partisan issue, but it continually gets hijacked in the world of politics.
OK while I like all of these other releases, I would absolutely LOVE it if the Sam & Max Poker games were released on the Switch. This category is sorely lacking on the Switch. And, the Poker games are my favorite Sam & Max games.
@HotGoomba Nope. Tell that to someone who cares.
@Multiboy2k Poker Night at the Inventory was great! But with Telltale being in the fractured state it is, and all the licensing that had to come together for those games (Half Life! Portal! Army of Darkness! Venture Bros!) I'm not optimistic for a re-release.
I loved the first remaster. Next year, we'll get The Devil's Playhouse RemasteredThis announcement came right after my mom's birthday!
Pedros: Did someone say... BIRTHDAY?
Olé!
Wow. That was unexpected.
@JayJ Eh? Steve Purcell just called, he wants his comic back!
@faint Well yeah because they didn't create Sam and Max. Just because somebody happened to work on a video game about the material doesn't mean they're entitled to ownership of the intellectual property and to change it around their ideals.
@JayJ How do you feel about Kubrick’s Shining or Teague’s Cujo? This game is their adaptation and their creation. Whomever owns the property rites signed off on their changes when they signed the contract and took the check.
@MrHonest I never said you had to care. Also I don't care, this is the internet, evryone spels thingz wronq nd dats ohkay.
Paging Limited Run Games
Love that they're remastering Sam and Max. I really hope they remaster the Tales of Monkey Island too... I'd love that to be on the Switch!
@HotGoomba I don’t care, dude.
@CovidBarbie Today something important to me, the next day something to you. You have to speak up while you can.
@FireRabbit I always find it to be an odd and puritanical stance to defend censorship in general. Especially when it comes to media, it always seems to come at the expense of artistic expression.

A game that actually deserves a remaster
@MrHonest well that's my fault for being nice to someone on the internet.
I have a feeling this comment will be removed, so I'm trying to keep this relevant and polite, but here goes:
I think if you're seriously upset about the removal of lines of dialogue in Sam and Max Save the World you're overreacting. You're basically saying that it's wrong on principle/slippery slope censorship. Fact of the matter is that a few words out of thousands were changed, mostly with throw away lines that ultimately effect nothing. If no one had reported the line changes you probably would've never noticed.
Furthermore Sam and Max have frequently been the subject of alterations. Remember the 90s cartoon? In the Sam and Max art books "The Effigy Mound' and 'The Age of S&M' (which I own) there are several notes from the tv censors asking to make alterations to the script or scenes (one of my favorites: "Page 2: Alright up to the honking, but please delete the "SPLAT! Mugger GOO splashes back onto the pantlegs of his intended victim."). TV censors (which are a thing that have existed for years) altered that, and many other, scenes. And we all ended up okay and nobody knew, because nobody watched the cartoon anyway. This type of thing is just part of the creative process, it's not bad or even usually political - WE are projecting that onto it.
Game changes =/= book burning
