Another high-profile Nintendo Switch release has been leaked onto the internet nearly a week out from its launch.
This time around it's Mario Party Superstars, which officially arrives on the Switch on 29th October. It follows on from the leak of Metroid Dread earlier this month.
If you are trying to avoid any spoilers, you might want to refrain from searching this game on social media - as images, video footage, the game's soundtrack, and even the game itself appear to have been uploaded. Some are already supposedly playing the title on Switch and via emulation.
Our Mario Party Superstars review goes live next week. If we hear any developments about this latest Switch leak, we'll be sure to let you know.

You shouldn't announce these things, It's just adding to the problem.
Okay so I get the warning about spoilers for games like Dread but Mario Party? What is there to spoil? It's Mario Party.
I don't mind this being out there early as I want to hear as many opinions as possible to determine whether or not NDcube have botched it before I commit my NSO voucher.
@BenAV very poor take - the sooner it's out the less revenue will be generated for the actual creators.
More opinions for us is better. Nintendo is a business, I dont care about their bottom line.
@Lordplops That's not my problem.
@BenAV literally in the exact same boat.
@Lordplops Oh no, I hope poor Nintendo doesn't get bankrupt because of this
@mariomaster96 no, but NDcube might get shut down and their staff might lose their livelihoods, but it's OK, at least we'll all know if the game's crap or not yeah? Cool.
How does this even happen? Someone 9n the inside must not like their employer.
@Lordplops That's a bit dramatic, isn't it ?
@Lordplops
The people who pirated it wouldn't have paid for it anyways, so no money lost.
@Lordplops At least in your unrealistic hypothetical scenario, we might get to see a different studio take over the series.
@Lordplops You really think Mario Party is going to sell so poorly that NDCube gets shut down? Lol, SMP sold over 15mio copies despite not offering much and I assume MPS is going to do well too
Also you really think people should rather buy this game and end up being dissapointed than waiting for impressions of other people to see if they might like it? Wth? Especially since people who wait for other peoples impressions are the ones who wait for reviews anyway
@Lordplops eh I'm sure you'll keep the poor indie company afloat by buying their overpriced services.
That being said, I'm just hoping to hear about things like performance and just how much content is available. Still kinda hopefully there's one more board you can unlock.
Really hoping this one will be the home for a series of DLC throughout the Switch lifetime, rather than having another cartridge to buy 3 years from now.
@Lordplops surely that will only be an issue if the game is bad though? And if it is that bad then surely it’s hardly much of a loss in the hypothetical scenario they get shut down because they definitely won’t have had a great track record with games in that case
@Lordplops And? Why should i care? I am not a shareholder so this isn’t my problem.
It's just a bunch of old mini games not that big of a deal
Since yesterday.
@Lordplops Really nothing to spoil here, Nintendo already showed 80-90% of the game off already.
Removed - disrespecting others; user is banned
@Lordplops as far as I am concerned this should be dlc for the first Mario party I bought on switch. So I’m not too concerned if they lose out on some money. I too would like to know if it’s actually good versus being disappointed after buying it.
Lol thanks? Now I know I can go download it I guess, weird that you guys keep reporting these leaks to alert me, be sure to let me know about any future ones 😂
@BenAV Aren't NSO Vouchers like..totally dead? I thought they were removed from existance a year ago
One could hardly consider footage/images from a party game to be "spoilers."
There's no story, plot, or deep lore to have spoiled in a Mario Party.
@BeautyandtheBeer unlockeable boards, characters and modes. Which minigames are in (there are more than 100, we've got proof. We don't know how many more.)
And of course general things like changes to boards, how everything plays, etc.
You can't spoil Mario Party. End of story.
@Sahnec That's so bad! I love it! 😂😂🤣
@sixrings it's 5 new boards and 100+ minigames (because they don't count stuff like item minigames.)
Now you're just being unreasonable!
(Although I do agree they should do DLC for these games! )
@garfreek is that a … Power Glove reference?
@Edwirichuu Some regions like NA have stopped them for some reason but not everywhere. Japan, Europe, Australia, etc. all still offer them.
@Lordplops I'm pretty sure game companies do this on purpose. There's almost always a leak a week or two before release. It adds drama and gets people talking. Pretty much free advertising for the game.
@ValZ They announce fighter pass 3 for Smash during the end credits! /s
@mariomaster96 u do realize Nintendo company came out in 1889 and it's 2021 I do y think money is really a issue to them
@garfreek Isn't this just a collection of old boards and games though?
Knowing about different boards, games and the like is hardly going break any experience or ruin someones fun.
I guess if it does somehow do that to someone they can just very easily not look for that. It's not that hard.
Wow... Talk about a harsh crowd 😅😅
@Darkyoshi98 u do realize this is sarcasm?
I will never understand why people say things can't be spoiled in a party game.
Not only story elements can be spoiled. People want to discover things for themselves, so if there's any fun things to unlock in this game or whatever, it CAN be considered a spoiler if they're told about it before they had a chance to discover it for themselves.
That said, I doubt this game has much of anything in terms of unlockables. I hope to be wrong, and that there's at least one board unlockable.
It’s a stretch, and surely an unpopular opinion, but I can only hope this total disregard for supply chain security just ends up in this being the last Mario Party. Perhaps it’s because I joined the party late (pun intended), but I can’t understand all the fuss about this series. Sure - the mini games are fun, but the overarching roll and move mechanism just brought me back to the time I had to play Candy Land and Snakes and Ladders with my young child.
The pirates are partying way too early... BOOOOO!
Oohhh noooo! They spoiled everything, they wrote that mario party has mini games!! Nooo its ruined 😂
And it even has a dice!?
Mario party ia just that mario party.
@CupidStunt NintendoLife mentioned they will have their review out next week, so I'm assuming they and most other press already got their review copy. I think it's safe to say someone from the press leaked the review copy.
@BenAV it is once games start to get seriously performance breaking anti-piracy software. Which has already happened on pc for example.
This happens with literally every major switch release. Why do we keep bringing attention to it? It doesn't help anyone and may encourage people to pirate since is so easy.
What surprises me is that both Dread and Mario Party both work perfectly with SX OS. Other third party titles, from a few months ago, have been released that require firmware 12 which means they arent compatible with SX OS, yet Ninty's first party games still only require firmware 11 (ie SX OS compatible). Bit of an oversight, considering they made a point of suing Team Xecuter members yet their valuable first party franchises still havent been patched to make them SX OS incompatible.
Lmao so much pirate sympathizers here as expected. Anything for free vidya. “It’s ok because others will buy it” is such a hilarious mentality that shows what is wrong with society since this kind of parasite take applies outside Vidya all the time in society in the form of “It’s ok someone else will pick up the slack”.
I would like to know if it's any good, do we need a second Party game this year and is it worth the price of a new AAA game.
So don't worry about an embargo just tell us.
@lyle_catcliffe It is now! 😂😂😂
@Lordplops It’s a game that uses old boards. This was not anyone’s baby. It’s a cash grab. Nothing wrong with a cash grab, but this game isn’t going to be something that people talk about for years to come.
Already aware this will be under the tree on Christmas Day. Looking forward to it.
@Arawn93
Yes, it's ridiculous, I'm not even criticizing them for being ok with pirating the game.
But if you're gonna do it, at least don't try to come up with stupid excuses as to why you have the rights to pirate it.
Removed - inappropriate
@CupidStunt that’s exactly what I was thinking. An insider.
@BenAV Just like another studio took over Mario & Luigi RPG when Alphadream went bankrupt?
There's no rationalising piracy.
@Dr_Lugae Having no Mario Party at all would still be an improvement over NDcube's efforts so far though. Hopefully this one should be a step in the right direction for a change.
It's not like I'm pirating the game myself. I just want to know if the game's any good before I buy it and just couldn't care less if they lose a few sales which will likely be pretty insignificant anyway.
@BeautyandtheBeer especially with this one, that shouldn't be too hard no!
But not knowing about the mini games was always fun, so I'd recommend that to everyone!
All of the poeple saying this is good, are just wring
@RabidCanuck yhea, it may just not be for you. I like it like I like board games. There's a bit of planning, there's a bit of luck and it all balances out because of the minigames.
I like the board giving a proper incentive to winning. I always loved the artstyle and music (till the soulless ND cube games).
It's probably the same as someone buying every Grand Turismo, or yearly fifa game.
@garfreek Fair enough, and you’re probably right; it’s just not my taste. I’ve got a fair sized (over 300) board game collection so plenty to choose from when I have that itch, and Warioware Get it Together when craving mini games.
Promoting theft/thievery because you've already "been there and done that" isn't anything to be proud of.
Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this.
I mean...you're probably not wrong
The v1 unpatched Nintendo Switch is still the king!
Spoilers? Its Mario Party, not only that its boards from 20 years ago what is there to spoil?
News like this makes even more people pirate the game.
The rate things are going, I think "Switch Game Doesn't Leak Before Launch" would be more of a story.
@RabidCanuck It's not exactly an unpopular opinion. Mario Party isn't everyone's thing, and it wasn't helped by the fact that there have been so many games in the series, many of them mediocre.
The thing with Mario Party though is that it's more about what goes on off-screen than the actual game mechanics. Get a group of four friends who are into it in a room, watch fortunes change, temporary alliances form and break, people stabbing one another in the back from turn to turn, and it's a vibe. That's always been what multiplayer gaming is about for me.
@ATaco Reminder: That is probably a joke.
