Nintendo's Game Builder Garage has been out for a few months now, and as we expected, people are now making some absolutely incredible games.
If recreations of F-Zero, Super Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda weren't already impressive enough, our senior video producer Alex Olney has now rounded up another batch of amazing games you might not have seen before. We've got Monkey Ball Garage, a Super Smash Bros. style game, another take on the all-time classic Tetris, and even more 3D platformers.
With so many great games being made for Game Builder Garage each day, now might be the perfect time to pick this one up if you haven't already. As we mentioned in our Nintendo Life review, it's a frighteningly powerful game creation tool that will help propagate a new generation of game developers.

Get out of the way banana mania, there’s a new monkey ball in town
I still have yet to pick up Game Builder Garage, but this all is making me want to finally take the plunge.
A much more humble game, but I’ll promote my own GBG creation:
Astro Joust: G-004-6LN-C5Y
Thanks 😊
This makes me feel inadequate.
This is just awesome. Kind of makes me wish I had the game so I could play other people's creations. I know I wouldn't be making any myself though.
@Dpullam It probably isn’t worth the full price just to play the games of others. You also have to complete the first game tutorial & quiz before you can download any games.
They should release a cheap GBG player (without the creation tools).
Runs smoother than Dreams on PS4.
It's really impressive to see what people make out of this "limited" tool. If you told me that was an official Monkey Ball game I would have believed it.
@Octoguy That looks pretty cool. Great job!
"Still"? It only came out two months ago, did you think the standard was going to get worse over time?
Wow. Just looking at those code spiderwebs makes my head hurt. And some of the art is also genuinely good. Seriously impressive
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Great job!!
I'm sorry, but how??! That's amazing!! It looks, moves and tilts in the same way.... I don't understand!! How can this be possible, and it only a few months too!!! WOW!!
It’s only just come out hasn’t it?!?
Surely we would be expecting people to create stuff over a few years no?
'Still'? I'm still working on my game lol. Wish I could just knock one out...but I have never made one before
I'm sure if I gave GameBuilder a bit more time (Eg, more than the couple of hours I have!) then I'd eventually get to grips with it.
But my oldskool BASIC style of coding doesn't seem to be compatible with he methods that it uses.
I find it really hard to code with select boxes, dragging lines to connect the boxes, and the like, when my heart just wants to whip out a keyboard and type what I want the thing to do!!
I'm more than comfortable with SmileBASIC, though, and with over 100 games written in that, I'm quite happy to continue down that path. (Obligatory link, because any time I say I've made that many games, someone always inevitably asks for a link! https://agameaweek.com/?Blog=9140 )
@Jayenkai impressive dedication !!
In GBG you are limited to like 512 objects and 1024 connections. However, you can launch another game from within the game. So I am certain that each of his levels are separate games strung together (which also allows you to restart from the current level). It is very creative and impressive.
You could do something similar for a level 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc. Or a collection of mini games.
I might have to get it lol
Just picked up this game when this video was posted 😆 My first project on it is making my own Tenchu level and even with this UI things get complex quick.
Ohhhh I didn't know you could make your own graphics. I'd totally written this off because for some reason I thought you were stuck with the Premade images, but now I'm interested again.
I'd be happy to make a simple space invaders type thing.
