WarioWare Get It Together Switch

Another week of 2021 goes zipping by like a zippy thing in Zippy Mode — a zip, for instance — and we can but look back on the events of the past seven days as events dropped into the fast-flowing river of Time. Treasured memories, like that time when some Nintendo fan turned their N64 into a Switch, or when the Special Edition Pokémon Dialga & Palkia Nintendo Switch Lite was announced — remember that? What about the time when Brendan Fraser was playing his Switch before meeting a fan over Zoom? All those moments lost in time, like tears in rain...

After a busy week it's time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

This weekend I am review-free for the first time in a while, so I'm going to go back to my long-term project: The House In Fata Morgana. Also, Minecraft. I'm making a cottagecore village; the latest addition is a Cartographer's House that's more of a Hobbit Hole kind of thing. I'm really proud of it — it's a shame it's not real and I can't live there.

Firstly, the WarioWare demo is very good and everyone should play it! I need to save some energy for the main game but it's put me in a Wario mood. I haven't replayed Wario Land 4 on GBA in well over a decade and I'm curious if it's as good as I remember. The GBA lacked a traditional Mario platformer to call its own, so Wario not only helped fill the void but gave us a bit of variety.

Sticking to older handhelds, I'll also be pulling out the DS, one of our projects next week on the video side relies a little bit on Another Code (Trace Memory in NA). Both Another Code and its Wii sequel Another Code R are incredibly underrated games, hopefully they can get a little more recognition over time.

I've got a fairly quiet weekend ahead of me, so I absolutely plan on continuing with Axiom Verge 2! Whether I get it done or not is kind of up in the air at the moment, but I'll give it a good shot. I'm also in the mood for a good horror title too, so I might boot up Little Nightmares, or possibly even Resident Evil for the billionth time.

I'm also kinda tempted to download No More Heroes ahead of the new entry, but I just remember trying it out back in 2007 and not liking it all that much. Hey, maybe it'll be different this time!

This weekend, I’ve got some odd plans. I recently really got back into… Super Mario Odyssey? I had previously beaten the game many moons ago (pun intended) - but still have a lot to collect, so I began playing it again last night out of boredom, and remembered it’s AMAZING. Definitely going to continue in the coming days.

I’ll also probably play the WarioWare demo to death - because it’s goddamn incredible. Lastly, I keep plugging away at Paper Mario: The Origami King, because it’s great and I’m only about halfway through (I think I’m subconsciously dragging it out so that it never ends). And there you have it — this weekend, I’ll be fully immersed in the Mario universe. Wahoo!

Hello. This weekend I’m gonna be blasting through a few different bits and pieces for review, including the return of the daddy of modern FPS shooters, Quake. It’s been a long time since I’ve gibbed and fragged my way around the dingy corridors of ID Software’s classic, so I’m hoping I don’t get beaten too badly once I’ve cleared the campaign chapters and hit up some frantic multiplayer action.

Elsewhere, if I get time, I’m gonna be diving into some more Axiom Verge 2. I absolutely adored the first game, for me one of the very best Metroidvanias on Switch, and so far this sequel is absolutely managing to live up to my heady expectations. I genuinely have no idea how Thomas Happ does it. Have a good weekend, whatever you’re up to or playing!
