It was back in Nintendo's April Indie Showcase that it confirmed art of rally, by Funselektor, is heading to Switch eShop. Originally a popular release on Epic Game Store, it'll land on Switch and other platforms with all of the previous DLC and the upcoming Kenya expansion, so there should be plenty to do.
The good news is it's not far away, confirmed for launch on 12th August. You can see some game details, and the Switch-specific trailer from earlier in the year, below.
- Progress through the golden years of rally in Career Mode
- 61 iconic rally cars from the 60s to the 90’s, Group B, Group S, Group A
- 60 rally stages in Finland, Sardinia, Norway, Japan and Germany
- Daily and weekly challenges with leaderboards
- Photo and Replay mode for sharing screenshots
- Ghost racing: Push your limits and chase your own best scores
- Vrooooooooooooooom 🏁
Will you be getting into gear to play this on Switch?

Awesome. Been looking forward to this one! Fancied it for a while but feels like a portable game to me.
This makes me so happy!! The game is very appropriately titled as well… the only other title I think would work is “This is Rally.”
It looks gorgeous and I am 100% buying this. I just hope it controls well because it sure as hell looks beautiful.
I'm excited for this one too
Day one! I have GPU but I’ll 100% be getting this on switch.
I love Driving games… and this looks amazing
The 1st trailer seems misleading. The camera is more dynamic/cinematic, and the view behind the car is much closer. However, the Switch trailer shows a distinct camera position pulled far back ala Rush Hour for PS1 or Mantis Burn Racing. Will the camera be fixed there, or will there be multiple camera options?
The low-detail indie ‘look’ is not for me, but it’s great to see more racing games on Switch all the same.
I just got Absolute Drift on my Switch and have been liking it so much. While playing it I've imagined how great Art of Rally will be while assuming it would be released in 2022 or something. I hope it runs at 60 just like Absolute Drift does. This is so cool!
Depends if it's a $4.99 game or a $19.99+ game. Definitely not if it's a cheap throw away garbage experience.
Looking forward to it, but shame it looks like it'll have the same graphical limitations as the Mac version, with no spectators spilling on to the track and diving out the way as you approach.
@onex The first trailer shows footage from the replay modes, if I remember correctly. There are multiple camera options while you're driving, but they're all static chase cams.
@twztid13 I suggest you go read the pc reviews. $4.99 is an insult to the developers!
I have this on PC, and only recently picked it up too. I found the initial PC demo a turn off, as well as the visual style.
Decided to give it a chance on sale, and I wish I would have purchased for full price. The visuals grow on you - once I experienced the 'golden hour' in this game, I was sold. But it was the gameplay and overall vibe that really got to me.
The controls are weighty and sublime, and the vibe and soundtrack are perfect.
I hope there is an option for right-stick acceleration and braking on Switch - Art of Rally may look arcade, but it definitely leans more on the sim side of things... and analogue acceleration and braking is pretty much essential.
Amazing game, once that I wished I had jumped on sooner! If the Switch port is good, then it's a definite buy for arcade and sim racing fans alike
@kobashi100 great, i will never buy a $4.99 game. Waste of my time & any developers, imo. I realize there's an audience for those things, but it's not me. I didn't realize it was out anywhere yet, but see it's coming to game pass soon, so i will get to play it there. Game pass definitely makes me spend less money on switch. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, especially for Nintendo.
@twztid13 I'm releasing Rush Rally Origins on Switch on the 19th August at $6.99. Are you saying the cheap price tag puts you off buying it, even though all the RR series have such good praise? I've basically priced it exactly the same as the mobile version because I believe it is unfair to hike the price on switch because it is a "proper console" when it is exactly the same game!!! I want people to have a great priced premium product whatever their device!!
@olut Thanks, Of course I don't mind! I'm not sure what is next to be honest, there are lots of ideas being thrown about!
If you like RR3, certainly pick up Rush Rally Origins, it is slightly more arcade like, but still has that Rush Rally 3 feel!
@Brownmonster yes. An artificial price increase would put me off just as much, tho. I'm not interested in mobile like experiences on my consoles, personally.
@twztid13 Thanks! So I'm all about making "proper" games regardless of what device they are on, I can't stand the classic "mobile like" experiences that you speak of either! With Rush Rally I tried to prove that full racing games can work on mobiles and tablet, and succeeded, Both Rush Rally 3 and Rush Rally Origins are also suited to the Switch, I've just chosen to keep them priced the same as I don't believe in hiking the price just because it is on a console! Anyway give Origins a blast when it comes out and I'd be keen to hear what you think!
Hopefully Nintendo Life will have a preview/review of Rush Rally Origins some time soon
Best leave this thread to Art of Rally stuff now, I don't want to steal their promotion time from them here
Appears to have promise but need reviews.
@Brownmonster really looking forward to this game and appreciate the price at £6.99.
If its anything like your previous games we are in for a treat.
