While I'm a sucker for physical editions of games, I can't justify buying a physical version of a game that I downloaded for free on my phone.
......... AMONGUS........................................................ SUS................................................................................... kinda sus ngl
@Samuel-Flutter Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Also, I don't like the game enough.
That's great for those who want it. Hmm... among us is essentially a multiplayer game where you probably would want to have it digitally.
I think Among Us is in major need for more depth and replay value such as a single player story mode and expanded multiplayer modes. Bigger maps are not as fun to play on as the smaller maps.
Why is there a steelbook for among us
I know people like to collect or whatever, and that’s fine…but outside of that, I’m really struggling to understand what the point of an expensive physical copy of Among Us is. It’s a ridiculously cheap game that’ll be unplayable once the servers go down and it takes up like no memory.
As Among Us is basically unplayable if they shut down the servers one day, a physical version just doesn't make sense to me: A major point in buying physical, is that I actually own the game and that I'll still be able to play it if —for one reason or another— the digital version gets removed. But this aspect of preserving a game just isn't true with physical copies of online games, as the physical copy is useless if the servers were shut down...
@Delycache I think in this case, the game is purely an excuse to sell lots of tat in a box.
Mira HQ implies that among us takes place in the same universe as Xenoblade X. Perhaps the impostors are Devinians?
Never been a fan of publishers offering "physical" copies of games that run off servers. Nothing lasts forever and those servers will be turned off eventually.
I want it so bad but I already have it on the switch.
@Snatcher If you want it that bad I don’t see why you’d let the $5 or so you spent on it already stop you.
Didn’t this game die like a 2 weeks after it got popular? And why would I buy a collectors edition of a game that is free to play on mobile? This just seems like a blatant cash grab before thier game entirely dies.
@Krambo42 Maybe your right, BC I do really want it.
@Snatcher Yeah. I’ve thought about stuff like this before. It’s easy to say “eh, I already own it, that stinks, I would have gotten this instead”, but if you really think about it, it’s just $5 you spent months ago. Don’t let it stop you from getting what you want!
@Krambo42 Ya I think I might pick it up, Still need to think about it, As I'm trying to save as much as possible for sep.
Edit: I looked and it says its coming around dec I think it might be a place holder but that means I don't have to pick it up like right now, I'm totally going to get it tho.
As much as I am a hardcore physical dood, I echo the sentiment that publishers really needn't bother with physical releases for cheap internet-based games that won't be playable in about a decade.
I suppose if it were a particularly large game that would benefit from a 16GB/32GB cartridge, I could understand giving customers the novelty of a physical release that eases the burden on their storage, but otherwise... meh.
I guess this would also benefit players who would like to share a single copy of the game in a household, so I suppose there is that too.
90.00$ for a free game? 0_0
I like my physical games but when it comes to these really small indies/games that I can get for a few bucks digitally this is just a bit silly. Plus this game is online only which makes it even worse. 20 years from now this will be a coaster.
A $3.50 game just became $30+ I never thought this would get a physical!
Echoing others sentiment towards this getting a physical release, even though I got Tetris 99 physically. I at least got 12 months of NSO and it offers the Big Block DLC offline.
...But why? It's a fun game but I don't really see why it needs a physical edition.
Memes aside, its always a nice thing to see more options for those who would like to support and didn't have any possible way before
What a weird release. It costs about £3 for the game.
@Delycache never played among us. I know it is $5 on Switch. Is it possible to play local wireless between switches? So if they did shut down the servers you could still play head-to-head...
@Silly_G even if folks were in the same household...for switch players it is $5 (or less if on sale) for each player if bought digitally...still comes out less to buy digital for a household of 6 switch units which is $30 or less. I used 6 switch units as the example because...
the lowest collector's edition is $29.99, + shipping and maybe some tax for only 1 switch.
