Update [Sat 24th Jul, 2021 19:05 BST]: A developer diary of the upcoming 'Echoing Void' DLC for Minecraft Dungeons has now been released. This next content update will mark the end of the Arch-Illager narrative and will also be released alongside an additional free update on the same date (28th July).
Original article [Tue 13th Jul, 2021 02:30 BST]: Mojang has announced a brand new DLC expansion for its hack & slash Minecraft Dungeons. It's titled 'Echoing Void' and will be arriving on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, on 28th July.
In this new DLC, you'll face some "bold new enemies", collect even more legendary gear, make your way through a bunch of challenging missions and put a stop to untold threats which lurk in the same dimension as Endermen.
In addition to this DLC, there'll also be a free content update released alongside it. This includes a handful of powerful enchantments and also a new "maze-like" mission - Gaunlet of Gales.
"This gauntlet can be accessed through your mission map and contains challenges that require everything from wit and cunning to endurance and determination. I lack all of these skills, but I’ll still give it a shot!"
Last but not least is the announcement of an Ultimate Edition. This will also release alongside Echoing Void and is the best way to experience all six DLCs at a lower price.

Minecraft Dungeons
Announces Echoing Void DLC
New Free Update
And Ultimate Edition
Arriving on 28th July
For the Nintendo Switch
And maybe you'll even be able to finish an entire level without crashing after this patch!
@Einherjar You got that right. However if you are playing single player I discovered you can put the system in sleep mode and wake it up and it starts right up. At least it has for me every time so far. Playing online I haven't tried it.
@Spoony_Tech I eventually gave up on it.
Between its frame pacing giving me headaches and nausea and the constant crashes, the issues far overshadowed any enjoyment from it.
I still have a slither of hope that it will be fixed one day but yeah, it's nothing i want to invest time into anymore.
Whenever a patch comes out, i see if i can finish a level. if it crashed, it's put on hold until the next patch.
And it's a shame really, i actually quite liked it.
@Einherjar It can be really frustrating for sure. The main reason I got into it was so my son and I could play together. we had one sessions where it froze 3 times in a row and I'm talking 30 minutes plus into a game. The only good thing is you get to keep what you collected up to that point items wise.
@Einherjar Its so bad, I rarely ever feel bad after playing games but this one made me need to lay down afterwards. I want to play it because it was actually fun. I may have to try it on a different console.
@Arckadius Yup, i rarely, if ever, have any issues with bad framerates, but MCD's stuttering is exceptionally bad.
It's not unplayable (I played the 360 port or Warriors Orochi 2 back in the day, my tolerance for bad framerates is pretty high), it's just a frequency that actually makes me sick.
And from what i've heard, it's stuttering on Xbox as well. Haven't heard anything about the PC port so far.
I thought this game already had an Ultimate Edition…
@NintendoWiiDS It did, but then they announced 4 more DLC packs after that.
I'm playing on Xbox One S with my son. It's a little janky there, but apparently much better than Switch. Buying games like Dungeons, Ori, or Cuphead on other systems would hurt my brain too much due to blaring "Xbox Games" boot logo.
Anyway we like the game alot, despite many bad design choices: DLC levels are too long to replay, Ancient Hunt gear offerings are a pain, and Raid Captain banners make levels unplayable. We play anyway, despite the issues, but I hope they keep refining the experience.
Gotta re-fire up my games since I reloaded them on a 1tb card.
