Review Terranigma (Super Nintendo)
Does the final release in Enix's Gaia Trilogy hold up?
It was during the 16-bit era that the action-style role-playing game began to take off. Instead of using the turn-based battle system found in most traditional RPGs, many developers were putting the player more in control of the actual battles in an attempt to broaden the appeal of the genre...

Guide Best SNES / Super Nintendo RPGs
Flame spells at the ready!
The expansive software library of Nintendo’s 16-bit powerhouse wasn’t short of any of the most popular genres of the '90s, and perhaps least of all RPGs. Intense strategy, whimsical adventure, tear-jerking goodbyes to characters you’ve spent months with… the SNES has it all. And that makes compiling a list of ten...

News Terranigma Artist Kamui Fujiwara Releases Special Movie For 27th Anniversary
"The planet had two hearts..."
If there's a Nintendo console that's absolutely loaded with stellar RPGs, it's the Super Nintendo. This little system is filled to the brim with classics from Squaresoft), Enix (prior to merging with Square), Nintendo, Capcom, and tons more. Terranigma, from developer Quintet, is one of the standouts, despite not...
Feature Artist Kamui Fujiwara Talks Terranigma Amid Drive To Resurrect Classic SNES RPG
"It means the quest is not over, right?"
Terranigma is a SNES title that holds a special place in the heart of many an RPG fan, which is remarkable when you consider that it was only released in Japan and Europe, and bypassed North America entirely. Part of Quintet's loose RPG trilogy (which also includes Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia),...
News Some Of The Original Terranigma Team Want To Revive The Classic SNES RPG
Digital re-release or remaster, we don't mind...
Despite only seeing release in Japan and Europe, 1995's Terranigma is regarded as one of the highlights of the SNES RPG library, and copies change hands for startling prices on the secondary market these days. Sadly, the game has never been re-released in any form, but that's something that some of...
News 23 Years On, And We Still Can't Believe This Classic SNES RPG Didn't Get A US Release
Time to celebrate with a new remix album
On December 19th, 1996, Terranigma was released in the west. Quintet's final SNES release and part of a loose trilogy which also includes the superb Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia / Time (and ActRaiser, if you're feeling generous), Terranigma ranks as one of the best RPGs to grace Nintendo's 16-bit system...

MSU1 Magic turns Quintet into full orchestra
Like everyone else we love the whole SNES Mini thing, but with a total of 21 games we also had to accept that many big names would be missing in action. One of biggest third-party producers missing is Quintet, which is surprising considering its incredibly prolific output during the SNES years, which...

This really is a wonderful game. Shame it never got a US release.
IMO, the fact that not a single Gaia game is available on VC is the service's single biggest crime. Where's Soul Blazer, already?
I replayed this a few months ago and it's still amazing, one of the top 10 SNES games for sure.
I agree with all of you. I own all three Gaia titles for the SNES, and there is absolutely no reason these amazing action/rpgs shouldn't be available on the VC since Square-Enix has shown no interest in remaking them for any other console.
I had a friend remove the regional boot check on a Terranigma cart for me so I could play it on my US Super NES console. I think I'm also going to review these other two custom carts I have, Star Ocean and Secret of Mana 2, which both have the English translation on the carts. I'm working on the artwork and screenshots now.
Terranigma is one of them games that many people havent heard due to its non us release. Its a great little RPG by little i mean massive. The gameplay in this game is huge and goes from the creation of the Earth to the death of the planet. The story is really moving and the ending does have an effect on your if you have a pashion for RPG's. This game should definitely hit the VC but in the mean time you should keep an eye out for this on cart. You may be hit with a high price range as this game is pretty hard to come by and is seen as a highly collectable game cart. I am currently playing through this again and reliving those childhood memories that will stay with me throughout my life.
Terranigma's been at the top of my most wanted list for some time now. The music I've heard from it (I probably shouldn't have listened to music from games I haven't played, but I currently cannot import) was breathtakingly beautiful and amazing. What I've heard of the plot also has me very intrigued.
One day, I hope to import this game (via regional cable, if possible). I heard tons of great things about it.
