Following on from Masahiro Sakurai's showcase, Tekken's Kazuya is now officially available as a paid DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
If you've already purchased the second Fighters Pass, it's simply a matter of updating your copy of the game. Otherwise, you can buy the new character in a standalone pack for $5.99 / £5.39.
Kazuya has been made available alongside Version 12.0.0. The full patch notes are now live.
This character comes with a brand new stage (Mishima Dojo) and a whopping 39 music tracks (new and old) from the Tekken series. There are also some new Tekken-themed spirits that will appear in the Vault on the Shop menu.

And you still can't play Tekken on the switch!
Heheh; I never saw the ending of that last clip until now. Kirby’s freaking adorable.
I've been in the lab with him and he is pretty good to say the least. Like, that roundhouse to triple spin kick is very good.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Moonlit Wilderness and Infinite Azure
and tekken too I guess
@HollowSpectre At least you got Tekken Advance and Tag Tournament 2 with Mario and Luigi costumes
While I've never played Tekken, Kazuya sounds like an interesting character. I might pick him up later down the line.
Wasn't sure if Kazuya would land with me because of his heavy emphasis on inputs (not a huge fan of the Shotos but Terry is a top 3 character for me), but he's a ton of fun and easily justifies his place in the roster
@TheFrenchiestFry There's also Tekken Prime 3D on the 3DS as well. The game is good with smooth 60fps gameplay in stunning 360p SD, a roster of 40 playable characters from Tekken 6, and you get a free movie with it but the game is just a time killer title and had no story or movie endings. The only selling point for that game is the gameplay, online play, and the free Tekken animated CGI movie.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi is the online community for T3D still there or has it died off?
@PikaPhantom I have the same feeling the fighting game characters except terry for some reason. i was already a Terry main but i guess i'll secondary (or even main) Kazuya.
Penultimate is a word that exists; can't believe you missed the opportunity to do a Super Smash Bros PenUltimate pun, but then, this isn't Eurogamer.
No matter who the last fighter will be, people will be not amused. This will end nasty.
Glad to see any Tekken character in the roster. My fav fighting series.
Used Kazuya for a bit, pretty fun character to use.I like the stage and the little touches like his unique throws and combos.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi
I am afraid to destroy my 3DS with Fighting Games haha
Have Street Fighter 3D and i am only playing on easy to not having to be to demanding to the Hardware haha
Oh cool. A character I dont know but enjoyed using in Smash. Im gonna buy Tekken now. Oh wait. I cant. Free advertisement for Sony and Microsoft since you can only play the game using their platforms. Just give us Waluigi, Nintendo
@TheFrenchiestFry I suppose if I strap a portable car battery to my wiiu and Chuck it in a backpack it could be playable on the go...
For the LAST fighter, I'd actually like some more MARIO representation. Paper Mario perhaps.
I don’t believe it’s the last fighter. Everyone’s going to go home or onto a new project for a year or so and then they will circle back when people are thirsty again.
I don’t even understand how they can make a new smash after this. Whose going to buy a brand new game with Ramsay a base of thirty characters after having close to 100 in ultimate?
@RemyLeBeau_UK I literally came on to make the same point. Opportunity massively missed.
@gaga64 It's as dead as a ghost town the last time I play online on it. Maybe if you're lucky you could still find one or two person still playing it but I doubt any one is there anymore. I only came back to the game most of the time if I need to kill off some waiting times.
@Azuris Tekken and DOA are pretty much just button masher so you don't have to worry much in the way of knowing inputs and such. Only Ultimate Mortal Kombat DS, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II, and Super Street Fighter IV 3D that will required more skills from you. Ultimate Mortal Kombat DS was lame cause there are no training mode in that game to prepare you for battle so unless you're skillful the AI will pummel you to no end after match 1 as they are acting the same way they were from the arcade game and not the console versions.
Surely the last fighter will be Waluigi. Surely.
Updated this morning and took Kazuya for a spin. He's OK but I honestly would've preferred Jin. I am enjoying the Burning Town song with my Shantae mii so even though she's not "actually" in the game it's a nice consolation prize.
I get the impression that Kazuya takes some time to get used to but when you do he will be a powerhouse I can promise you that. As for me I'll stick to playing as Terry.
@HollowSpectre There's Pokkén.
@mmarkster Its more fun than most of the mainline poke games I suppose.
