We live in a world where Mario Kart, LEGO games, and an actual LEGO Mario exist, yet LEGO Mario Kart does not. But what if it did?
Over the past few months, YouTube channel Banana Pictures has been creating a LEGO Mario Kart project, taking everything that makes Nintendo's hit racing series tick and giving it a colourful, blocky makeover. The game is intended as a concept demonstration – Banana Pictures says that it will never be released or distributed in any way – so be safe in the knowledge that this is simply someone having a bit of fun.
To showcase the project and its progress, a series of videos have appeared. You can give them a watch for yourself below – we particularly like the SNES Donut Plains recreation in the second video.
So, what do you think? Does seeing this proof of concept make you want a real, Nintendo-made LEGO Mario Kart series? What about other Nintendo LEGO games?

Don't really see the point, to be honest... Mario Kart is already a fun, colourful, cartoony game, so a Lego version doesn't really seem much different.
Oh jeez, it’s Lego Racers. That still haunts me.
Maybe a Lego mario skin fot mk9 but a full on game? Nah
dont give them ideas just give us Mario kart 9!
Now I know it would look creepy as hell.
Eh, handling looks off.
Kinda like the new Ribbon Road track though (including Xbox One boxes)
What If Nintendo Made A NEW, NORMAL Mario Kart Game?
This gets an absolute NO from me.
The LEGO tracks don't look great, even the excellent LEGO Racers didn't try to make everything look like it was LEGO.
Just have LEGO Mario as a playable character in MK9.
It's weird seeing everything made of Lego, even the official games don't bother with that.
-but as an amateur project it's pretty nice
I'd much rather see Lego bring back Lego Racers, that was one of the best games of the 5th gen consoles and the sequel for PS2 while not as good was still a solid release.
One course would be cool.
Give me a new Lego Racer!!
It's very cool to see someone make this for themselves, it looks like they put a lot of work into it too! That being said, I agree, it is kind of unnecessary for it to be Lego. Still neat to see though.
Mario Kart + Forza Horizon = Mario Kart World.
Make it happen, Nintendo.
@nessisonett Curious as to what you mean by “haunts me” lol. I had the N64 version and it was okay in my eyes but nothing special.
Actually building your own car does seem like a next logical step after antigravity, so this actually seems like a plausible crossover.
@1031Gamer I have vivid memories of that game when I was a kid. Not good ones.
They could add a Lego dlc like Forza had a big Lego expansion
What about Mario Kart Live Home Circuit - Lego Edition.
This lego thing is getting out of hand
The only reason I'd oppose this is because I'm pretty sure the main developer would be TT Fusion and not Nintendo EPD. And as much as I liked Lego City Undercover, if all the Lego games run like that one (specially the Switch version) then it would crash at random points and suffer some framerate drops from simple visual effects. So, no thanks.
It would be funny if they added LEGO Mario & LEGO Luigi to Mario Kart Tour
the new rainbow road looks as though it was taken from Pikmin 2.
either way the Lego Mario Kart videos makes me want Nintendo to release more Lego Super Mario sets; as well as new characters and content for Mario Kart Home Circuit. Mario and Luigi are not enough.
