Hades

Another busy old week has flown by, with Nintendo revealing a new Monster Hunter Switch console and an Animal Crossing amiibo card rerelease, and PlatinumGames telling us we should probably forget about Bayonetta 3 for a while, so let's take a step back and chat about our weekend gaming plans.

Members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

This weekend I shall mostly be playing Hades, if I manage to squeeze in any gaming. I recently bought Doshin the Giant for GameCube and want to try that out at some point, but the god of the underworld grabbed me recently and I haven’t been able to play much else. Great game.

I also picked up Sushi Striker (the 3DS version) brand new for just 6€, so there’s an outside possibility I might fire that up. But probably not. Hades FTW.

Cyber Shadow! I've had the icon staring at me since Tuesday but haven't been able to put the time aside to properly get stuck in. Everything about this game looks right up my alley and judging from our review, it sounds like it delivers! Even the "may feel a bit short" criticism sounds appealing, I'm in the mood for a quick flick to occupy the weekend.

I've also slowly been chipping away at the Nintendo DS version of Chrono Trigger whenever I get a spare moment, perhaps if I finish Cyber Shadow prematurely I'll be able to make a proper dent in this.

I just can’t stop playing GameCube. Def Jam Vendetta reminded me why I really love AKI Corp. games while I am still finding solace for speed in XGIII: Extreme G Racing's TRON-like bikes. Still playing Wrestling Empire's career mode (I was rebranded “Ruthless Gold” a couple of nights ago) and I’m gonna give Touhou Spell Bubble a chance. A very strong eShop week means I will also tackle Project Starship X, Redout: Space Assault, Bezier: Second Edition and the superb Olija for good measure.

My game of the week is Cyber Shadow! The inclusion of ninjas also shortlists this amazing NES era platformer into my GOTY candidates. An utterly superb video game experience no one should skip on, more so if you weren’t around when the original Ninja Gaiden trilogy was released on the NES.

Hey folks! Hope you're all doing well. This weekend, I'll be diving into Turrican Flashback. I love a good retro title, and despite being a blatantly incomplete collection, this is one that I'm confident will keep me busy for a good while. Heck, I've been playing Gunlord X on the Switch for the better half of 30 hours, so bring it on!

I'll also be booting up Scott Pilgrim: The Game. I bought it on release day, but up until now haven't had an awful lot of time to play it. It also transpires that after not playing it for nearly a decade, I'm absolutely rubbish at Scott Pilgrim. So there's that… have a good one, all!

I've been (as usual) putting a few more hours into Hades this week. I'm about to hit 200 hours, which might be the first time I've ever managed that in a game that wasn't Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, or a massive RPG! When I'm not killing dads, I've been giving Olija and Heaven's Vault a go. I finished Heaven's Vault on the PS4 twice already, but I just love the linguistic gameplay. Besides - I can promise you it gets better on new game +!

Thanks to a recommendation from Liam Richardson over at our sister site, Push Square, I started up Paradise Killer recently and it’s happily satisfying that Phoenix Wright/Suda 51 hole in my heart. However, it seems there is a boatload of high profile game demos taking up space on my Switch like Monster Hunter Rise, Bravely Default II and Balan Wonderworld. Oh, Balan, how I had much higher hopes for you, but after playing through the first world of the demo I feel fairly dissatisfied and might just move on. Thankfully though, I also have tons of cyborgs to slice up in Cyber Shadow!

As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...
