Limited Run Games - of Harvest Moon chicken plushie fame - are back at it again with a new physical release, complete with a ton of goodies. This time, it's Shiren The Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate, also known as the winner of our "Most Long-Winded Switch Game Title 2020" award.
Fans of the roguelike dungeon-crawler can choose between the regular physical edition or the "Collector's Edition", which comes with a Mamel stress ball, some Miracle Dice, three art prints, and an art book entitled "Shiren The Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate: Compendium of Wonders and Ten Views of Wandering". We're really not kidding, that's actually what they chose to call it.
Both versions are available to pre-order between January 12th and February 15th. The regular physical edition will cost $34.99 (~£26) and the Collector's Edition will cost $75 (~£55).

Looks tempting any good?
Will this be any better than the Original PS Vita version?
Classic mystery dungeon action. I hope this release of the game has been patched. The Japanese physical release was pretty broken at launch late last year.
LRG are just doing a distribution of the US region physical release, you may be able to buy it elsewhere.
The more exciting news is that LRG are doing an exclusive physical release of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game.
Didn't Amazon Japan also have this?
@arrmixer If you like this type of game, then you could definitely do far worse than buy this game. If it's anything like the Wii game, which was highly entertaining (in my opinion), then it's an easy recommendation.
Here's a video:
Yes! Will preorder!
Still waiting for my Shantae games to turn up.
@ThanosReXXX I am reminded of Tangledeep. Have you played that one?
@COVIDberry No, I'm afraid not. But I've heard of it, though. Here's a gameplay video of the previous Shiren the Wanderer game on the Wii, which might give you a better idea than the trailer of the new game that I posted earlier:
And here's a review of the Wii game:
I added that because the gameplay in all games is pretty much the same, so from that review, you'll also pretty much know what to expect from the Switch version.
Thanks @ThanosReXXX I’ll take a look.
@arrmixer You're welcome.
@COVIDberry Having played both of them, the gameplay style is very similar between the two. Shiren is a bit more of a traditional fantasy setting. It's also pretty tough. I am enjoying it quite a bit, more than Tangledeep. The skill system is quite different, in that skills(abilities) are only used at night, when weapons are ineffective. But there are scrolls, seals, staves and other items that can be used in place of skills(randomly found, of course). I think if you are a fan of Tangledeep, you'll enjoy this one as well.
@ThanosReXXX Now I have regrets that I never picked up the Wii Shiren game.
@Batty5 Well, if you still have a Wii or Wii U lying around, it's still worth getting it.
On eBay and similar sites, the game is being offered for the most ridiculous prices, because it's kind of rare, but it is also still available for reasonably normal prices, from several sources. Needless to say perhaps, but only used games, obviously. New copies of this game, if they even still exist, go for anything upwards of $200 - $300...
Either way, here you go:
And there's also a DS game in the series. Plays exactly the same:

@dr-gorgo
Yes, but only slightly. It has some additional bonus content but is otherwise the exact same game.
Ooooh artwork may have to get the CE.
Just the regular edition for me. The season is too crowded, and the Special Edition budget already allocated. Definitely a game I have to have though.
@ThanosReXXX @Batty5 My thanks for your detailed responses.
Another Atlus RPG, I see... now I wonder how it compares to Etrian Odyssey. I have much patience for dungeon crawlers, to say nothing of skill systems, so I appreciate your recommendations.
@COVIDberry You're very welcome. It's an easy recommendation, far as I'm concerned, and even the previous game on the Wii is still available, as you may already have seen in the shop links I posted in comment #16, so if you're interested, and you still have a Wii or Wii U, you can also buy that one. The graphics are actually pretty similar as well, so you wouldn't even notice what version you'd be playing, contrary to full-on 3D games where the difference between a Wii and Switch version would obviously be VERY apparent.
