Nintendo has shared a list of the Switch's best-selling titles so far this year in its home country of Japan.
The list was detailed in the company's free winter edition magazine that was posted last week (thanks to Perfectly Nintendo for the spot) and covers all physical sales between 30th December 2019 and 1st November 2020. It doesn't include digital sales, but does count any sales made through console bundles and the like.
If you keep up to date with our regular chart updates, you'll probably have a good idea of the games that have made it into this list. It features plenty of Nintendo's own evergreen hits:
01./00. – Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo) [20.3.2020]
02./00. – Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo) [18.10.2019]
03./00. – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo) [28.4.2017]
04./00. – Pokémon Sword and Shield (The Pokémon Company) [15.11.2019]
05./00. – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo) [07.12.2018]
06./00. – Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Nintendo) [05.6.2020]
07./00. – Super Mario Party (Nintendo) [05.10.2018]
08./00. – Super Mario 3D All-Stars (Nintendo) [18.9.2020]
09./00. – Minecraft (Mojang / Microsoft Japan) [21.6.2018]
10./00. – Splatoon 2 (Nintendo) [21.7.2017]
According to the latest chart figures, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has now shifted a whopping 5,974,018 physical copies in Japan alone, helping it to sit comfortably at the top of the list above.

They should do one for non first party titles, that would be the interesting one.
Ring Fit Adventure is really great, and it deserves it!
Oh yeah ACNH. I haven't played it for a while and I've missed two birthdays. I should really get back to terraforming my island.
Other than Club House Games and SM Party my son and I own all of those between us
No stoppin animal crossin.
Ring Fit Adventure dethroned Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ?! 😲
Well, I guess it surprises nobody that Nintendo have like, 9 out of the top ten games. I hope that third party games are selling well too.
@Anti-Matter not in total sales, this is just for sales so far this calendar year.
Pretty standard “new system owners” list really. Hopefully next year will be more diverse since it will be the second year for those owners.
Wow, Japan has bad taste.
(With that said, we in the West probably don’t have the most deserving games on top either...)
A really depressing list if you have owned a Switch for more than a year....everything is either recycled or older than a year except ACNH.... great for Nintendo finally but not so much for the fans.
Didn't expect Clubhouse to do so well. Nothing against it, it just kinda seems like filler.
@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah, I agree with your assessment, but by then we’ll have a whole new crowd of new owners...
Side note, I hope Odyssey can keep pace with BOTW. I mean BOTW is a great game, but... come on, it’s Mario! lol (great reasoning, I know)
Poor Paper Mario - don’t feel it deserves to be beaten by the likes of Mario Party, or even a three-year-old Splatoon 2 (as good as that game is).
Shows what a poor year this has been for Nintendo releases when most of the top 10 sellers are older games.
Oof, 2020 was a weird year for nintendo based on all of those old games on this list. On a positive note, 2021 is already looking pretty stacked with third party titles so whatever nintendo brings will just make the year that much more interesting
I was going to ask how Splatoon 2 made it on this list, but then I saw Mario Party higher up the list and figured that I wouldn't bother myself on the why, because it'll just hurt my head.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not sure about Mario Party, I prefer portability in my games, but Splatoon is great.
I just don't think it's "top 10 sales" great, after more than 3 years on the market.
I have 4 out of the 10 games.
I basically have all 10 games listed on there but ANCH and Pokemon where the two I played the most so far.
