Fans of Dodge Roll and Singlecore's gloriously OTT Enter the Gungeon will be pleased to learn that the game's madcap sequel is coming to the Nintendo Switch later today.
Forget dungeon crawling, Exit the Gungeon is a bullet-hell dungeon climber which sees you trying to escape the infamous Gungeon alive via a series of deadly elevators. Your weapon is constantly changing, and there's plenty of loot to pick up along the way, too – so expect things to be pretty unpredictable.
Exit the Gungeon launched at Apple Arcade last year but is coming to Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive later today.

Disappointing way to end the Direct.
Oh heck yeah. Didnt expect this.
I love Enter the Gungeon so I'm pretty keen to give this a try. Will download when it's available later, assuming Nintendo fix the servers and I can get on the eShop.
Edit: Okay well the eShop is working now and I bought it so problem solved.
@Ralizah Fantastic way to end the Direct.
Pricing the Gungeon?
This game came out on Apple Arcade last year, how can it be exclusive to Switch? I was hoping for some fun indie games like Toilet Paper Tycoon or Plague Inc 2, this is disappointing.
@Ralizah Thank god it's not a direct, then
I never did manage to finish the first game. only got as far as a few levels down. I should try get back to it at some point and put this one on the watch list until a sale maybe
@NoTinderLife Console exclusive..
Not sure if I will like this side scrolling direction compared to the top-down exploration focused direction they had with Enter. I might give it a go but it definitely doesn't capture my interest like the first game.
@NoTinderLife Console exclusive.
@Damo But Steam says it's releasing today on PC?
Also: what a way to end the presentation! I'm beyond excited to play it later!
@StefanN console exclusive
@NoTinderLife In the direct they specified that it’s a timed console exclusive.
Dang it, the article title made me hope this would an Elevator Action-like game.
God I would love Elevator Action Returns for the Switch.
Oh wait, I guess PC doesn't count as a console, so that makes sense.
@Kalmaro PC isn't a console...
@Kalmaro PC is not a console. So it will be timed on Switch and come to PS4 and Xbox at a later date
@Damo Yeah, that already dawned on me. PC is it's own beast.
@Ragdoll72 Yep, that makes more sense. I guess I'm used to seeing PC as a console ,even though it isn't.
I mean, it’s still not a console exclusive... I know it’s not super popular, but the Apple TV is a games console... and Exit the Gungeon is on it (and has been for a while).
@Ajent Would PC count as a console too then?
Actually, is there a definition on what a game console actually is?
If it's just a computer system plugged into a screen that you play games on then PC would qualify, as well as an apple TV.
Shoot, even a phone could count of we stretch the meaning a bit.
@Kalmaro I’ve always thought of a console as a significantly stripped down version of a PC. They’re all computers, but a console is something designed to specifically play games (although these days they also act as set top boxes as well - or in case of the Apple TV a set top box that also functions as a console).
A PC very much is considered a separate ‘platform’ because of how much more functional it is. In terms of what Apple TV can do- it’s practically the same as Xbox One and PS4.
@Ajent Alright, I can see where you're coming from.
Too bad this was the only drop today i saw. Sure hope that direct is happening next week because this didn't bring much of anything new!
@NoTinderLife really hoping for something better like Silksong info, Axiom Verge 2 info, any behemoth game, Environmental Station Alpha and Lisa ports
@PickledKong64 This showcase didn't really have much of anything interesting to me. All of the other ones had at least one thing that I was interested in, Cuphead, Axiom Verge 2, Untitled Goose Game, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I was really expecting Silksong to be that super interesting to me, but then it just never showed up.
Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure fans of the series will be happy.
Enter the Gungeon is such a great game. This is the announcement I've been waiting for, for a while now.
i wouldnt count apple tv as a console, gaming is not its primary means of existence. same goes for pcs. ps4, switch, xbox all however were designed to game before anything else and is their main use/intention.
@1UP_MARIO Check Steam, Exit The Gungeon released yesterday alongside the Switch port. I was surprised too.
