As you might have heard, Pokémon Home is now available on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. As part of this launch, a new update (Version 1.5) has been released for the existing cloud-based service Pokémon Bank. This makes Bank compatible with Home.
To make the whole process a little easier, there's now a free one-month trial for the old service. This means you can transfer across applicable 'mon from past generations without having to sign up to the subscription app. This also includes the free use of the Poké Transporter. Here's the official explanation of how it works:
To commemorate the release of Pokémon HOME, we will make Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter available at no cost for a one-month period after Pokémon HOME is released. You’ll be able to bring Pokémon from various Pokémon series games using Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter. Once you've got your Pokémon in Pokémon Bank, you'll then be able to move them to Pokémon HOME!
Once a pocket monster has been moved from Bank to Home, you'll no longer be able to move it back to the Bank. Once this trial ends, provided you're subbed to a Premium (paid) Home plan, you'll still be able to move Pokémon from the Bank to Pokémon Home whenever you like.
Will you be taking advantage of this one-month free trial, or did you already have a subscription to the Bank app? Leave a comment below.

Whew! I’ve been wondering if I was gonna have to resub to transfer everything over
So, i have to update my 3DS Pokemon Bank first before transferring my Pokemons ?
@Anti-Matter That is correct.
So if I'm reading that right, after Bank's free month is over, then Home Premium will also cover the Bank subscription? Is that right?
One month huh? -_-
@OrangeSoda
Home Premium won't include a Bank subscription. They're separate subscriptions.
You might still be able to pull Pokémon out of an expired/inactive Bank if they were already put in there though, not sure on that.
This is great for people who just want to bring their favorites over. 3 dollars, do the transfers and call it done. Maybe mess around with the trading features for a few weeks.
Can't beat free, your the best Nintendo!
@bluesun Yep, that's right. It won't include a Bank sub, but you can still move 'mon from the Bank if you have a premium Home sub.
Totem Pokémon can’t be transferred over sadly kept getting a message saying they can’t be transferred.
Here's another catch besides Totems not being allowed. Any Hyper Training you did is reset when you transfer from Gen 7.
Honestly should just be free forever with Home releasing, but whatever, being free for a month is better than not being free at all.
@ToonStuff Agreed. It's not like they'll keep Bank around for that much longer anyway now that Home as arrived.
Also, I found the initial announcement of Home to be kind of funny. Sure I'm interested in the prospect of it, but the idea of "a place where you can store all your Pokemon and connect it will all future Pokemon games?!" Well, that's the way they marketed Bank and now look at where we are.
Wow, you're too generous, Game Freak.
