Well deserved.
NintendoSoup did a more complete translation of Sakurai's speech. After watching the video I believe that one was more accurate.
Yay, LABO !
Cardboard is the Future.
Brilliant work, Sakurai-San... here's hoping it gets even better in the future!
I'm surprise Red Dead Redemption 2 didn't win one for excellence.
Well deserved, I do like who Labo is the special child that they had to make an award for so it didn't feel left out
Aww love the Blue colour, I miss it.
Picked up two Labo sets last week and my girlfriend an I are having a blast building the stuff
But what does Special Price mean?
Sakurai talking about how his work is for Iwata just shows such a deep determination and respect, it brought a tear to my eye. I really wasn't planning to pick up Smash for Switch, because I still play the Wii U version. But now, I think I will go get it.
what the hell is 'megido72'?
Deserved! It is the biggest video game crossover ever! A game where Mario, Link, and DK can meet up with Mega Man, Ryu, Solid Snake, Cloud Strife, Bayonetta and Banjo & Kazooie and duke it out with each other!
And who knows which character can also make the cut! I mean, we are living in a world where someone like Sora (KH) can get it, or even Crash Bandicoot, Lara Croft, Rayman, etc.!
@RareFan
Anyone of those would be more deserving than Bayonetta imo. She just sticks out for me.
That same translation quoted Sakurai as saying that non-gaming characters (like Iron Man and Goku specifically) have no place in Smash. I’m surprised that wasn’t mentioned in this article.
@Sandro89
Yeah, Bayonetta kinda got in because Nintendo wants to promote this franchise. I think without Nintendo this series would have died out with the first game
@Sandro89 @RareFan Bayonetta really almost been cancelled for an unknown reason but the first game was among the best hack and slash games I saw and Bayonetta 2 was even better, it’s only problem was being released only on the Wii U that didn’t give it a chance to sell to well, I am hyped for Bayonetta 3!!!!
Congrats to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon Quest Builders 2, and Nintendo Labo!
Also congrats to Kingdom Hearts III. Hopefully we see a Switch release at some point!
@RareFan Bayonetta was a highly requested character by fans.
Total class act.
@Anri02
I first must see the official ballot results.
@Anri02
Yeah just like Doom Slayer and Master Chief but I would have the same opinion on them. It's not that Bayonetta is a bad game or character. For me it just doesn't fit with the likes of Mario and Pikachu and whatever else.
Wow thats alot!
Congrats sakurai and your crew.
maybe someday, the smash bros team might have more awards than me.
Nice, really glad Sakurai and the SSBU devs. got the recognition they deserve.
That is so beautiful. Thank you both Sakurai-san and Iwata-denka.
They say great smash is built on the shoulders of giants. Not here. At Aperture, we do all our smash from scratch. No hand holding.
I'm no psychiatrist, but coming from a bunch of eggheads who wouldn't recognize the thrill of danger if it walked up and snapped their little pink bras, that sounds like 'projection "THEY didn't battle to the death, save the universe, or battle evil. No sir, we did! It's you and me against the world, people! I like your grits! Hustle could use some work though.
