Another busy week has been and gone, this time bringing with it hints at SNES games coming to Switch and the revelation that Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma teased the upcoming Zelda: Link's Awakening remake years ago! Well...

As we've finally reached the weekend, it's time once again to sit back, relax, and chat about our gaming plans. We've done that below and we'd love for you to get involved via our poll and comment sections below. Enjoy!

Following our list of the Top 50 Nintendo DS games last weekend, I ended up hitting eBay in the dead of night and landing myself a very reasonably priced cherry DSi XL to compliment my white DS Lite. It came with a few games, but I’ll probably give Club Penguin and Dora’s Cooking Club a miss. Instead, I plan to sit down with Elite Beat Agents and one of the Zeldas. I know the DS Zeldas aren’t the most popular, but I’ve got a real soft spot for Spirit Tracks and its excellent soundtrack.

I also have Chrono Trigger sitting unplayed on the shelf, but that’s a bit too ambitious for my hour or two of free time. One day, one day…

The other day, I dug into my old 3DS library and suddenly remembered that I had a long-forgotten backlog of semi-completed games on that system, as well... This weekend, I have resolved to go back to the wonderful world of dual-screen action and tackle them, because they came before the Switch, and I’m a fan of chronology. Bear in mind, many of these games were purchased in my youth - and more nostalgic than cool now. Top of the list are Ocarina of Time 3D; Super Mario 3D Land; Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon; and Pokémon Moon, X and Alpha Sapphire. Should be a decent walk down memory lane before the deluge of new Switch releases begins next month!

Part of me has been missing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate recently - I don't think I've really played it at all over the last few months - so I might spend just a little bit of time jumping into some online games to get completely annihilated.

Elsewhere, my partner and I have been looking for a co-op RPG adventure to play together, without all that much success. Essentially, I'm thinking Zelda: Breath of the Wild but in co-op all the way through, where both of you can level up, adventure and so forth and keep your stats throughout, but without the entire system being stupidly deep and challenging for someone new to the genre. A Push Square friend recommended The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse - so that might be our best bet - but any other ideas are very welcome!

The Summer of Switch is at last entering the final, long stretch and I can’t recall a time in my life as a gamer that I leave you all with such a luxurious backlog in my luggage. That’s right, another 11 months collaborating with Nintendo Life have come to pass and this weekend will be a rather long one for yours truly.

I usually fall back to retro gaming during this time of year, but I doubt I will be able to do so this time since I’m deeply invested in Fire Emblem: Three Houses' storyline, the sublime Astral Chain is right around the corner, plus Daemon X Machina is already lurking ahead to take over my life.

My game of the week is YOU! Yes, you, Nintendo Life community member who appreciates all the hard work me and the rest of the gang put on the table every single day to bring you the latest, greatest Nintendo happenings. We will probably meet again around the time Link decides to wake up...

This weekend I’m planning to spend more time with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. In between this, I’ll likely be playing the same lot of games I’ve been enjoying now for the past few months. These titles include Super Mario Maker 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.

I could probably spend a good six months on each of these titles, but unfortunately, I find myself trying to play the lot of them all at once. It’s going to become even more difficult when Astral Chain arrives at the end of August.
