This week has been packed to the brim with exciting Pokémon news, angry Zelda fans, and pretty much everything in between, but we've finally reached the weekend. As such, it's time to relax, gather round, and chat about our weekend gaming plans. Feel free to read through our entries below, vote in our poll, and then tell us about your plans in the comments below. Enjoy!

A bit of a weird one for me this weekend, as I might end up spending any free time playing through demos rather than actual games.

The Cadence of Hyrule eShop demo has come just in time - I've been on the fence about buying it since it released so this should give me a chance to see whether or not I'd like it enough. Also, the Mario Tennis Aces Game Trials offer means I can get a proper look at the game's single-player content for the first time. Before it came out, I was feeling pretty hyped about the solo stuff, but then once it had released I just wasn't as interested. Let's see if it can persuade me into a purchase.

This weekend I plan to give the new Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker VR experience a go - and still plan to play a bit of Fire Emblem: Three Houses & Dragon Quest Builders 2, among some other standards I always have on hand (still trying to finish collecting all of the Korok seeds in Breath of the Wild, like the completionist I am…). Should be a fairly calm gaming weekend before the storm of late August/September hits!

While perusing the eShop sale I managed to snag both the Mutant Mudds Collection and Elevator...to the Moon! Turbo Champion’s Edition for considerably less than the price of a decent pint. I’ve played a little Mutant Mudds before on 3DS and the sci-fi comedy action of Elevator to the Moon caught my eye when it was announced back in February. It was originally a VR game, so it’ll be interesting to see how it holds up on Switch. The comedy of an Arnold Schwarzenegger soundalike screaming instructions at me was too tempting to pass up at an 89% discount.

Is the Summer of Switch the very best video game Summer ever? Why, yes it is if we consider the onslaught of new amazing games flooding the eShop. This weekend will be spent with Vasara Collection, #RaceDieRun, Subdivision Infinity DX, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, The Messenger, Fantasy Strike and whatever quick sessions of Dragon Ball FighterZ I can sneak into the rotation.

My game of the week is a bit of a cheat this time because it is not out yet: FAR: Lone Sails is an incredible, lonely and desolate journey I urge everyone not to skip upon release. I just can’t stop thinking about it and whatever the journey will throw at me next. Look forward to it!

It’s more of the same for me this weekend. I’ll probably start off with some Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and then move onto Super Mario Maker 2 or Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

There are a few fighting games in need of my attention as well. Of course, one of them is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the second is Dragon Ball FighterZ. Janemba was added in earlier this week, so I’ll definitely be trying him out at some point. I might even give the Mario Tennis Aces game trial a go if I get enough time.
