I'm buying the physical version of Spyro but that still counts as a download amiright?
Astral Chain and Spyro for me this week. Busy weekend inbound.
Pre-ordered physical copies of Astral Chain and Spyro.
I still can't tell if the physical version of Spyro requires a download for the content or not.
But if it does then that's a hard-pass on the physical version.
Bubsy and spyro is my 2 pick ups preordered both
I'm in the same boat as @Aurumonado in that i buy physically when ever i can. IMO @Dazza the Headlines for these bi weekly articles should be changed to What Do You Plan On Buying This Week or something like that. As to include everybody not just digital buyers.
Shouldn't Final Fantasy 8 be on this list for the 3rd as well?
@RupeeClock I heard the game is 15 gigs and the required download is 10+ gigs
@Aurumonado
It's one of those things that needs definite confirmation, I don't know if that falls upon Nintendo or Activision, but the latter has some shady business practices like launching a game without micro-transactions and adding them in later, so they can garner positive reviews and stronger launch period sales.
I don't trust Activision to release an uncompromised product.
@RupeeClock Yep, they've gone downhill over the years, as many of these floundering companies try to find ways to survive.
@Mr_Muscle
As I understand it, it's mostly the top executives getting too greedy and trying to squeeze as much money out of a game as possible to either pay themselves more or please investors, not thinking of the consequences for the company or their staff, or customer satisfaction.
That's certainly no way to run an entertainment business.
If I had unlimited time and money, I'd absolutely nab Spyro and Astral Chain.
As it stands, I'm going to work on Fire Emblem and various games in my backlog until Dragon Quest XI S comes out.
Astral Chain physical for me. Can’t believe I’ll have that tonight. It’s felt like forever for this!
Astral chain for sure. Spyro has me intrigued but I'll have to wait for a while as there's no time to play it. Between astral chain and creature In the well out next week I'll be busy .
I played Astral Chain yesterday. The combat is surprisingly clunky for a Platinum game. I wouldn't have guessed it was them if I didn't already know and if not for their logo at the start. I'm really enjoying the unexpected RPG elements like light character customisation, side content and playful, quirky hidden things like the toilet fairy. Looks really good for a Switch game too.
@RupeeClock A download for the last two games in the collection is required. The boxart on Nintendo UKs site just says "Internet Download Required" (https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch/Spyro-Reignited-Trilogy-1576500.html), but the German Amazon has the full info:
"Erfordert den Download von Inhalten! Spiel 1 auf der Spielekassette. Spiel 2 und 3 muss aus dem Internet heruntergeladen werden!"
My backlog is currently at 100+ games but I DONT CARE. I need Spyro and Astral Chain. I am more of a collector than player at this point..
Spyro for me. Glad I waited all this time instead of getting it on PS4.
@KJ85
So frustrating, but thanks.
If they can't get a complete physical release for the game, then I'll pass. It's just not a proper release otherwise.
@Dazza Wasn't Decay of Logos delayed until September?
Where is Lord of the Rings Adventure Card game? I was looking forward to diving into that today. Their post on Steam seems to suggest that it is coming to all current gen consoles today.
Can’t wait to pickup my physical copy of astral chain tomorrow morning!!! Beyond excited, can’t believe tomorrow will finally be the day, heh.
Astral Chain physical though will pick up Spyro later in the year.
I'll definitely be picking up Spyro if it requires a download or not. Seeing as the disc requires a download on Xbox and PS4. I wouldn't hold my breath. (I waited long enough to play it). If I don't get the Gears 5 One X console then I'll pick up Astral Chain.
Wasn’t the Lord of the Rings Card Game supposed to come out today too? Not surprised though since it’s been delayed so much already.
The Bubsy game interests me actually because of how great the Bit Trip games were. I’d love to see them “save” the franchise
Buying Astral Chain tomorrow. Also I can recommend Agent A having played it on android. Terrific puzzle game.
Very much looking forward to FUZE4. Had a little back and forth banter with the dev and they were ace.
I’m hoping I can get my little one into it, show her that games are made by people who have studied, it takes discipline and thought but is also fun and rewarding.
I hope NL do an in-depth review!
Isn't the North American version of The Ninja Warriors out this week? I don't see it in the feature.
Mario Kart Tour looks awesome... IF it were a legit Switch Game.
@RupeeClock I mean, even if it does require a download, I'm still sure that it'll take less pace than downloading the entire thing
Definitely picking up Astral Chain this week, then Final Fantasy VIII Remastered next week. Spyro and Bubsy sometimes later this year, I still had to finish Crash and Klonoa first.
I can’t fight the hype to play Astral Chain
@Aaronnnnn
That isn't the point, the point is physical preservation of the game once the Switch's eShop servers eventually go offline, and all digital content becomes inaccessible outside of unauthorized means.
Astral Chain physically for me.
I got Spyro on PS4 as a Xmas gift last year so I don't feel the need to double dip. Still need to finish it though.
Getting Astral Chain and Torchlight 2 for sure. I miiiiiight try Spyro since I've never played those games before. Had a N64 growing up and PS1 games really didn't age well.
@link3710 Yes it was
Too broke to afford any new games, but I'm still plugging away at Fire Emblem, so it's no biggie. I've only just reached the endgame of my second route!
@Aurumonado It does on the Switch, I am pretty sure the other versions are all on the disc.
@Justaguest Seriously dude. So many free and cheap games go on sale and I pick them up. In addition, I play nothing but smash and splatoon so I never get a chance to get to my backlog unless the game is really good. Which in my case Persona 5 is my brand new game I have had for awhile lol
@KIRO I can assure it is a excellent piece of software, have had it for some days now and it is really a labour of love.
@Crono1973
Only the first game was on the disc for the other versions.
Isnt ff8 remaster coming out on tuesday as well?
Heave ho is the only thing I need right now. Perfect co-op game for me and my friends
@RupeeClock I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but for spyro, isn't the download for the physical game just kinda like a day one update? (like, no download through the eshop) Again, sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm just wondering
@Aaronnnnn
No that's an entirely fair question.
The understanding is that the Spyro remastered trilogy physical release has a mandatory download to play the second or third games in the trilogy, because much of their content is not present on the game card/disc.
Which means if you have the physical game but no way to download the data in the future, you only have access to one of the three games.
@RupeeClock ohh, ok that makes sense, thanks
@Kiz3000 It's been delayed on Switch.
@Grumblevolcano What? Really? Where have they shared this disappointing news?
@Kiz3000 I saw a Nintendo Everything article about it, the delay is apparently to this fall.
Astral physical.
@Ron22 This is why:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/08/the_ninja_saviors_return_of_the_warriors_gets_a_delay_in_north_america
Though if you honestly can't wait that long, the game will be available on the UK eShop tomorrow probably with the same amount of contents you'll get if you wait for the NA version anyways.
Great week. Astral Chain, Spyro and Torchlight II for me.
@Aurumonado Oh,so it's DRM thing. That sucks.
Going to be all over Astral Chain, and I'm interested in Torchlight II as well.
I'm on the Spyro/Astral-Chain train. Physical. Cause i like my games hard (cased).
I’m in the uk and read some reviews on astral chain, especially one from the newspaper the Independent, and they really crapped all over astral chain!? They said it becomes very repetitive and boring? Personally going to wait before I buy just because I want to clear my backlog.
Astral Chain is preloaded & I'm also interested in Decay of Logos, but will wait for a sale.
Pacific Wings has a demo. It seems like a decent time waster imitation of 1942 and pretty cheap.
Probably gonna nab Astral Chain physical and I might just download Spyro. But I have no idea when I'll get to either of them. Still have a bunch of games in my backlog.
I'll get Spyro eventually but there's just too much i really, really want in September.
@Chunkboi79 Exactly. I do that too. They all get shoved aside while I play the "big" games and then get on eshop to strip it of all the discounts. Bad habits lel
@Justaguest What are you working on at the moment???
@Chunkboi79 Three houses completly sucked me in so just that really:). Before that it was all about Mario maker and Terraria which I couldn't stop playing.
@Justaguest I actually never picked up fire emblem because I got kind of bored of the series after Fates. However, it sounds like everyone is falling in love with it so I might have to jump into it again
@Chunkboi79 This game feels like something else though. I think it deserves the attention its getting because they tried something new with the series and it's working. If I am about to get bored of fighting it pulls me back in by doing stuff at the monastery. I have already put in 50+ hours and that rarely happens for me. If you are in the mood then get it:)
@Justaguest Will do! I just picked up Astral Chain which will sink all of my time at the moment. I am a big Platinum games fan boy lol However, I am glad to hear that it's doing well and you're enjoying it! I'll probably ask for it around Christmas!
@Chunkboi79 Astral Chain is very good. Its so different from anything I have played so I am not surprised about your interest in it. I hope you are done with the game before Christmas so you can get busy with FE:)
@Justaguest Man September just destroyed me with games lol That's actually a good time table for me, I'll probably ask for it for Christmas! Especially with Iceborne out now, Monster Hunter is up there on my favorite games of all time.
But Platinum games are amazing and unique developers, I always love their games. I truly hope they port wonderful 101 to the switch!
@Chunkboi79 Monster Hunter is my absolute favourite:) but I cant run it very well and I want to play through it with better visuals. I am putting it off till I get a better machine. Ill check 101 out if it gets ported.
@Justaguest Do you have it for PC? I personally really didn't get into GU on the switch at all. I also can't get over how debuffed the insect glaive it on the switch version which is why I don't play it lol
@Chunkboi79 Yes. Sorry to hear that. I tried to play all of the weapons. Making more and more elemental variants then I found out the element is not a big deal and lost interest entirely..
@Justaguest Yeah the elements are pretty down played in this rendition. I did get pretty upset recently when the Drachen Armor turned obsolete due to Master Rank Armor. I personally find all of the weapons pretty boring outside of the insect glaive. That's just cause I can fly through the air like an anime super hero lol
@Chunkboi79 It always sucks when you find out you poured your time into something inferior. Now I am in a mood for MH again. I am about to buy a new computer lel
@Justaguest Oh nice! It is always fun to get a new toy. In addition, I don't know if it is limited time or not but Monster hunter basically released an armor set that should carry you through about 60% of the base game so you don't need to grind for early game armor!
@Chunkboi79 Thank you but I am the rare grinding type who likes to kill everything there is to claim that last rare piece which is so hard to get like the rath gem etc. so no issues playing it the hard way with me. I just hope Ill be fast enough with my purchase to get to play World with people still interested in the game.
