After another week of non-stop Nintendo news and drama, it's finally time to spend a weekend relaxing with your favourite games. As ever, the team at Nintendo Life will be aiming to do just that, too, with rounds of football, first-party megahits, old-school platformers, and even the odd "saucy" game or two taking place this week. Check out what we're up to, and then let us know what you'll be playing in our poll and comments section below!

This weekend I shall mostly be carrying on with my FIFA 18 season, along with a couple of other beauties. I finally got round to getting Lumines Remastered, and it is an absolute treat. It really scratches my Tetris style high score puzzle itch with that Mizuguchi audiovisual finesse. I also got The Messenger and it is another indie darling. Slick, super satisfying platforming, a healthy dose of self-aware humour and that soundtrack... My goodness me, that soundtrack!

This weekend, my goal is to go back to all of the unfinished games in my catalog and finally try to get through them (or, at least, close to it). The games I’ve shamefully picked up, played for five to ten hours, and then abandoned are beginning to pile up - along with my guilt. They include random titles such as Pokémon Ultra Moon, Detective Pikachu, Super Mario Odyssey (don’t judge, I sank about 20 hours into this one, just haven’t finished it yet), half of my Nintendo Labo kits, and the Champion’s Ballad in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The older I get, the worse this habit of mine is becoming. If anyone has tips for better follow-through on games as an adult, they’d be greatly appreciated in the comments!

This weekend I'll be saying goodbye to NBA 2K18 as I finally get my hands on a review build of NBA 2K19. Expect the next couple of days to be filled with dunks and three-pointers as I try and take my beloved Timberwolves to the top of the mountain. Look out for the official verdict on Nintendo Life next week.
I'll also be going back to Yo-Kai Watch Blasters on 3DS, completing Patrols and trying to fill my Medallium up because I love Yo-Kai and there's nothing you can do to stop me.

This weekend I hope to have three games on the go. First up, Yooka-Laylee – as a Banjo-Kazooie obsessive, I was delighted when my Switch code arrived but I got distracted after dying a couple of times in the swamp world and it joined my pile of shame. Oxenfree is also in my backlog – the characters got on my nerves in the first twenty minutes but I want to blast through it.
The last game – if it even is a game – is a bit saucy. A couple of months back a clutch of Japanese-only “love-likeness pseudo-talk” titles appeared on the eShop and the blurb alone seemed worth the low price of entry. “A little embarrassing, in a conversation that pounding, romance skill UP!” the eShop promised. Well, quite. Curiosity (plus some unused gold points) led me to download Pure / Electric Love “What Do You Want?” – Eri Kitami. Purely for academic analysis, you understand. Yes. Important journalistic investigation. Ahem.
Next!

As will likely be the case for some time now, my spare weekend hours will most probably be spent playing Hollow Knight. I don't seem to manage to set aside quite as much time for gaming as I used to, so my playthrough of the game is trudging along at a very slow pace; people tell me there's upwards of 50 hours' worth of content to get through so I could be here for some time!
Elsewhere, I might spend an evening sitting down with something good for multiplayer. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and FIFA 18 are among the favourites in the house, so one of these could well be finding itself back in the Switch's cartridge slot pretty soon. I've been lazily rewatching the Pokémon anime most nights, though, so I'll have to actually peel myself off the sofa for once to switch the games over. The horror.

Switch - Hollow Knight
Wii U - Wind Waker
GC - (Leftfield) Vexx
I'm surprised nobody's voted for Pure / Electric Love “What Do You Want?” – Eri Kitami in the poll yet.
Another weekend focused on online games as the doom known as Nintendo Switch Online approaches. Also some XB1 for Master Chief Collection.
Going to get my Mario Rabbids on😎 Just got the gold edition 💪Is it any good?
Splatoon 2, what else!
Next week i hope Spider-Man but im addicted to Splatoon:)
Switch- Freedom Planet, Super Mario Odyssey, SNK Heroines, and Mega Man X collection(-4).
PS4- Yakuza 6, Street Fighter V, Fighting EX Layer, and King of Fighters 14.
Got the bad ending in Hollow Knight, but have everything I need now to tackle the final big bad. Just want to complete my charms collection (one to go), and then I'll probably say goodbye to this amazing melancholy adventure. Or do some of the expansions, if I can't bear to say goodbye. Ready to move on to something less twitchy, though. Kirby or Octopath, probably.
This weekend is, 'try to clear my backlog a little' weekend. So i'm going back to Night in the Woods and I am Setsuna which I stopped playing for some reason. If I clear those, i'll probably just play some more N sane trilogy.
Just finished my playthrough of the entire Mega Man Zero Collection on my 3DS as I felt compelled to revisit Z1 and Z3 in particular after beating the X Legacy Collections. Finally buckled down and unlocked Ultimate Mode in Z3 too.
I've been playing The Adventure Pals this morning, picked it up a while ago and enjoyed what I played... till I got distracted by the mighty Hollow Knight and Fortnite and forgot about it to be honest... anyway it's a fantastic little game, my son joined me when he got up, love the drop in drop out couch co-op! I'm sure I'll play some Fortnite too, and my son is playing Octodad for the first time on his Switch right now. Have a good weekend.
As I patiently wait for my Switch to return for repair, it seems I am continuing my trend of playing AC-NL every day for a year. Today celebrates the end of the first month.
@Deckard_2 haven't played it myself but my son loves it, I have a nephew who has put a lot of hours in to it too. Enjoy!
@Deckard_2 played it with wife we love it!
Into the Breach has totally taken over for me. Might do a bit of FIFA as well.
Twilight princess hd Wii u
Mario tennis aces switch
MH: World (PC)
MH: GU (Switch)
Spider-Man (PS4 Pro)
I'll try to finish my main party chapters on Octopath Traveler this weekend. Already managed two of them and I'm pretty overleveled already so it shouldn't be too hard. Besides that I'll probably play some Picross 3D round 2 I picked up last weekend along with some demo's (MHGU and Megaman). Maybe I'll even try out Destiny 2 I got with my PS+!
Monster hunter generations ultimate. You dont need anything else
Monster Hunter Stories - Just started this one couple of days back and I just got a Yian Kutku. I'm not that big into Monster Hunter but Stories is more traditional turn based RPG so it suits me better. It's fun.
Pokémon Crystal - I've been playing Crystal with my sister for a while now. We are both currently in Kanto with 4 badges. I think Gen 2 still holds up really well although Kanto is mostly there for the surprise factor for new players.
Pokémon Shuffle - UX stages. Currently on stage 254.
Arms, its party crash time!
Okami HD
I recently started playing Bravely default. Loving it so far! Still on chapter one so still a ways to go!
I'll probably be spending some more time with my crippling Minecraft addiction.
SNK Heroines and Broforce.
Two awesome games that were released this week, yet were not included in the poll. Instead you include games that came out last year.
Wow it's amazing how your readers have no interest in playing the same games as you guys.
For me I'll be playing MHGU
I'm playing Animal Crossing on the Wii and Wii Fit U on the Wii U.
Just started Spider-Man and hoping to finish Yoku's Island Express on Switch. Would have got Dragon Quest if it had released a few weeks earlier. Can't wait for new Tomb Raider next week.
Dragon Warrior 7 on psx. Love this game! Would like to see Switch version. Not the 3DS but the psx on switch
Finishing up my New Game Plus play through of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in preparation for Torna.
@Alucard83 3DS version is better. In virtually every way.
Not sure I'm going to find much time this weekend, but I did squeeze in some Hollow Knight last night and have only got 5 hours in, so I'll carry that on if I get the chance.
@SuperWeird They include the games they were playing, which was the point of the article, not the most recently released games or something.
I’m moving house on Monday so not much. In my downtime I’m beating up helpless bokoblins in BOTW and pretending they’re all rip off mortgage providers & solicitors. It helps.
Victor Vran, Into the Breach, Battle Chef for me, Western 1849 and Battle Chasers with the kiddo, and maybe some Metal Slug for us as well. Waiting for Wasteland 2 and Time carnage to unlock as well.
I'm playing Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on my Switch. I bought The Messenger on sale, but I haven't started it yet. I'm trying to hold off, because I like to TRY to finish one game at a time. I frequently fail at that and sometimes then I get derailed and don't finish them. That being said, I don't think that'll happen here. I really like Ys VIII (pronounced Eece, like Fleece, not Ease).
This weekend I'll mostly be playing: Hyper Light Drifter, Stardew Valley, Celeste, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Gone Home on Switch.
@Alexface you’re in for an amazing ride. I prefer the sequel but both are great. Really hoping a HD remaster compilation comes to Switch.
@MartyFlanMJFan Awesome! I'll look forward to it as soon as I get back from work🙄
@quinnyboy58 Awesome. Can't wait.💪
Well while I spend all weekend in hospital with my poorly son ... My switch will be getting hammered ... I shall be playing Hand of fate 2 , Paladins , and a bit of fortnite later with the kids as they sit at home on the pc ... Thankgod for crossplay !!!
Still going through xenoblade chronicles 3d (almost 50 hours in and level 70 and the story appears to be getting to the end but I am hopping for at least 25 more hours). Just finished the messenger and have to say what a great game. People should not sleep on this one (behind shovel knight, Celeste and hollow knight but still great even though could be a little longer).
Also waiting for my copy of Ys VIII to arrive this week
@Glitchling78 good luck with the move, take it out on those Bokogoblins, I like that!
@Do-_One I hope your son is feeling better soon.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (PC)
@Deckard_2 Yes, loved it. The DK DLC is fun to finish once, but has a low replayability level.
@Do-_One Very sorry to hear that. Hope your son is doing okay.
I'll be hammering and fighting my way through Dragon Quest Builders. I'm on the third town now and everybody thinks I'm the legendary Bodybuilder. Lovely game, I'd like to try and finish it!
Also playing a little in the ARMS Party Crash amd whatever multiplayer my kid wants to play.
Switch - SteamWorld Dig 2
PS3 - Portal 2
Wanna hopefully complete both games by next weekend when supposedly there'll be a Gamestop Pro Day (so I can get the extra trade-in credit).
@MartyFlanMJFan ahhh thanks !!! He is quite a poorly boy so in and out of hospital a lot ... the misses let me treat myself to a switch as the rooms never got a telly !!!! Best purchase ever this little beaut I must say
@austin_voigt Thanks !! He is quiet poorly ... but I get to game so always turn a negative into a positive
between Zelda botw, Mario odyssey and Mario kart, gonna mix in some stardew valley 😂
I’ve just Started freedom Planet and I think it’s fantastic. Also probably be on omega ruby
As per last weekend:
This week I will be mostly playing:
Pokémon SoulSilver
Nintendo Land
@Deltath opinion dear. I don't like the zoomed in camera in game. On world map you get at least some space. The walls are coming towards me in towns. Too much zoomed in and it's less charming. I still prefer the 2D version any day. Psx ftw
Prime 2
Other M
Fortnite
Sparkle 3
Labo
LM: Dark Moon
The lack of monster Hunter is disturbing.
Pokémon Ultra Moon, Ultra Sun, New Leaf and Pokémon Crystal. On quite a Pokémon playing streak.
Octopath Traveler. Just picked it up a couple days ago and I'm hooked!
Still battling through Dark Souls 3 on PS4.
Trying to finish Shantae and Thimbleweed Park on Switch then onto Hollow Knight. Really want into the breach and hyper light but have so many games to get through and not enough time.
Oh and just got Spider-Man- God knows when I’ll find time for that.
I’m still chipping away at Okami. I thought I’d finished it but apparently not.
The Pinball FX3 Williams announcement has inspired me to dust that off too.
Also blown the dust off Lego Marvel 2 to play with my boy who started school this week.
I did it y’all! My ten week game break is over. Now I’m back!
Playing ARMS and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe again, I’m realizing how beautiful the games are, even in handheld mode. No, especially in handheld mode. Because of handheld mode’s intimate nature, it’s very easy to get immersed in the game you’re playing and notice things you’ve never noticed, especially after becoming unfamiliar with it because you didn’t see it for ten weeks.
Of course, with a birthday comes new games! I’ll be playing Crash Bandicoot, the Labo Robot Kit, WarioWare Gold, Hollow Knight, and more.
Everyone have a God-blessed weekend and a fantastic day! 😃
Looking to finish Golf Story if I can. Also a few runs of Enter the gungeon. After a few hours play over the last month I can clear the first stage most goes, but only reached the second stage boss a couple of times. I'm not great at it but enjoying it loads.
If I have time, maybe some splatoon 2 or paladins as well.
No update from half the staff this week? And did we ever find out what was happening with shiryu? Miss his reviews and comments.
Just picked up L.A. Noire last week still working on finishing it on the switch, maybe some paladins switch, and probably mostly spiderman on ps4 i just got it lol
Every sunday we play in DOOM and every monday in Mario Kart 8: Deluxe. Feel free to join.
I want to finish Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before the DLC arrives, 60 hours in so I still have a long way to go.
Been playing Gradius 3, R-Type III and Yoshi’s Island.
@Krull without spoiling too much, what does it mean by ' bad ending?' Does that mean you technically beat the game but can go back to get more items/ defeat more bosses if want?
Still hollow knight. 12 hours in now and starting to make some good progress. Got a little frustrated last night though playing the soul master boss. Not so much the boss, but having to back track all the way back to him when I'd die. After some cursing and nearly throwing my switch, I decided to turn it off for the moment and start on Hyper Light Drifter. I must say, I was a little turned off the first 20 minutes but it's looking better and better as each minute passes in the game.
Ps4: Dragon quest xi. Couldn't wait another year for the switch version.
Switch: octopath traveler
Finally finishing Hollow Knight, then proceeding the god master DLC. After beating it got Guacamelee 2 then Dragon Quest XI on my backlog. Thinking of fitting Hyper Light Drifter in there... But I don't know yet.
It’s all Monster Hunter for me.
Taking a break from God of War on PS4. Started playing Hyper Light Drifter this morning.
The correct answer is Broforce. After a terrible day of work, loading that up and giggling at all the puns and very explosive gameplay....its the game my inner child needed. Definitely going to play more this weekend.
Probably just Hyper Light Drifter. This is mostly a movie weekend for me.
I am playing "Candy Candy In a Wonderful Pink World" and "Ultimate Sweet Rainbow Horse Racing".
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Dragon Quest XI. I'm obsessed with this game 🙃
Im home all weekend, Switch taking a break
My struggle continues as I reach a 75% completion rating for the Adventure Map in Hyrule Warriors DE. I almost beat all the levels in Cucco's Fury, too; I just need to do Giant Battle 3 and Survival Battles 3&4, but before that, I need to raise my pecking clucker a good few levels. It ain't doin' a lot of damage at level 70...
1. ARMS (Switch)
Party Crash Event. I will use Byte & Barq for the event.
2. Cooking Mama : Sweet Shop (3DS)
Finally, All recipes unlocked, All World theme mini games unlocked. Now, just only collect some money from Cake shop to unlock Clothing, furnitures, decorative stuffs, etc.
3. Dance Dance Revolution Extreme Japan (PS2)
Playing some songs, facing with Paranoia Survivor MAX as Final Stage songs so far.
4. Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix Japan (PS1)
Play the game on my PS2 Slim. Just play some songs to unlock Unlockable songs on DDR 3rd ReMix Mode.
Paladins
Hollow Knight
Splatoon 2
Rocket League
Octopath Traveler
@Do-_One: Hey, hope your son gets to feeling better soon! Way to turn what could be a negative experience into a more positive one!
Dead Cells and Into the Breach on my Switch. Spiderman on PS4.
Then I have to play Alan Wake and Uncharted 3, as part of a mini series we're doing for our podcast.
It's a wet weekend in my neck of the woods as my region of the US deals with the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon. It's ruined some plans for today, but at least I can spend that time gaming!
I'm still hacking away at Dragon Quest V. I think I'm near the end due to some story developments, but we'll see. XD It's a very charming remaster that clearly has had a lot of work put into it.
If I manage to finish the above, I think I'll revisit Ocarina of Time 3D. I still need to play through the Master Quest side of the game.
@Deckard_2 it’s amazing really words can’t do it justice to how great this game is
Paper mario on the wii u
I'm still playing The Messenger - what a game! I have loved every minute of it so far. Platforming perfection. The boss battles are great fun as well.
I've also picked up Metal Slug and Fatal Fury 2 in the SNK sale. Atooi's sale reminded me I need to complete Mutant Mudds.
I’m doing two long days of driving cross country, so I really won’t be able to play many games. Assuming I get home early enough on Sunday night I’m going to participate in the ARMS Party Crash, because I have yet to miss one. I hope it all works out.
Broforce, Into the Breach, and I also managed to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 again. It had fallen by the wayside because I always get distracted by other games like Binding of Isaac, but I forgot how much fun it really is. It's worth going back for anyone else who picked it up upon initial release.
@Glitchling78 I'm moving house on Friday... hopefully. Useless solicitors can't seem to get their act together, so i feel your pain!
@Tyranexx ta matey !!! Gaming is a good release
Picked up a physical copy of Victor Vran today. Hopefully I'm in for a good time.
@Do-_One that's lovely it's giving you so much pleasure, I hope you're son is able to join in the fun too at times. Tell him his friends at Nintendo Life are thinking about him!
Paladins is my main online game. I also picked up Hyper Sentential and Tumbleseed on sale.
Dragon Quest XI, some Dragon Quest XI on the side and a bit of Dragon Quest XI thrown in for good measure.
Nba 2k19 for the switch , Spider-Man for ps4
I'm trying to finish Assassin's Creed Origins (50 hours in) before Odyssey comes out. That game is great. Plus, the graphics in 4K are unreal on the Xbox One X. I picked up Spider-Man. I've been playing Divinity Original Sin 2. The Mega man 11 demo. Xenoblade 2. Metroid 2 Samus Returns. You get the gist?
Grinding out some stuff in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before the Torna DLC drops
Playing The Messenger, mostly. It's not as good as I'd been led to believe, but it's still fun. Gotta finish Hollow Knight, too.
Monster Hunter and PRey :3
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for me. How are you guys NOT playing this? I have to finish it up for a review
I am finally buckling down and focusing solely on Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. The 1st time I tried playing it, I was also trying to clear out some of my 3ds backlog, and I just didn't get into it as much. Stopped about 20 hours in.
This time, however, for some reason, I decided to start over and it seriously has it's hooks in me. About 45 hours in, and I think it is a wonderful game.
@baller98
I’m loving it on the switch. No patches needed this time around. Subtly improved graphics and lighting over last years version. It’s Smooth. It’s tops last years for me
I own pretty much all Switch games (I need to email Nintendo and ask if I can just buy a subscription to get their library as since you can only buy one game at a time it does certainly take a while). Tonight I’ll be playing Gone Home and maybe some Pokémon Sun 2 or Moon 2. Haven’t decided yet.
Games are too big and plentiful these days. What human has time for them all?
dragon quest XI while i patiently wait for the direct
On switch I'm playing Hyper Light Drifter amazing game btw some Splatoon 2 and on PS4 pro Spider-Man obviously.
The Messenger, Into the Breach and Lifeless Planet. Great Games so far. Messenger is almost over, Into the Breach needs just one more Squad to be completed and Lifeless Planet (maybe I'm the only one who loves this game) needs maybe two Hours more to watch the end.
Another weekend dedicated to Octopath. I am at level 50 about to finish Ophelia Chapter 4. I have all the Shrines and the other characters are in Chapter 2. I hope it does not get too easy after this.
I’m bouncing back and forth between Splatoon 2 and Okami. I still need to work on Hollow Knight too. I have to work all weekend so I doubt I’ll play anything though.
Wish I had a PS4 so I could play Spider-Man (and Shadow of the Colossus / Red Dead 2).
@Lonewolf82 Almost home time to smash some of this game💪
Hyper Light Drifter! After anticipating this game for so long it’s a joy to finally jump in.
Surprised it’s not mentioned more around here. It deserves the love 🤠
Hopefully I’ll get close to finishing Tropical Freeze. Also going to get my 100 tiers in Fortnite ( only 1 away!)
Switch — Octopath Traveler
PS4 — Battlefield V Beta
Xbox One — Battlefield V Beta and Monster Hunter World
I also picked up Spiderman but I want to get as much time in the Battlefield V beta as I can.
Youre friendly neighbourhood (marvels) spiderman.
Spider-Man obviously I'm already at more than 50% completion, so I might be able to almost wrap it up this weekend.
Taking a Switch Break currently, trying to finish Dragon Quest IV DS and Persona 5 on the PS3
DRAGON QUEST XI and I have a blast : D
Long time reader first time commenter...
I have been playing through Axiom Verge after recently picking it up on sale and also Street Fighter 3.
I’m super interested in King of Monsters from the ACA Neo Geo sake but all the reviews make me wary even though it seems way more like my kind of game than the others on sale.
On PS4... Yakuza Kiwami 2, Spider-Man and the First of the North Star Lost Paradise demo. On Switch... Mega Man 11 demo.
Homework
@Deckard_2 It`s an amazing tactics game. The best of all is, the Rabbids are actually fun in this game. I`m in the fourth world right now
I`ll play FM 2018, FIFA 2018( just re-downloaded it ), and probably some Mario + Rabbids( I want to finish at least the base game so I can buy Octopath and grow old finishing it )
I am looking forward to Diablo 3 so much I have purchased and am playing Victor Vran. As well as more Mariokart and Dead Cells.
Soon Doom on Xbox one, and Dead Cells/Binding of Isaac on switch for me. May pick up a few things that are on sale on the Eshop as well.
I'll be playing Flinthook actually, since my Limited Run Games version of it just arrived earlier this week.
This comes after a satisfying Pokémon Go session today.
WarioWare Gold on 3DS, which I don't know why but barely any store had the game in my country and I just could find it now, and Earthbound on Snes mini.
Supaa Waifu Faitaa!! (I mean, SNK Heroines)😅
Spider-Man (PS4)
Destiny 2: Forsaken (PS4)
Victor Vran Overkill Edition (Switch)
@Brewsta
Victor Vran is a ton of fun. Some of the challenges are really tough as well.
Although underused, I like the wall jump ability to reach higher areas. It reminds me of how much I want a new Lara Croft isometric game as well as the first two ported to Switch. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was already ported to iOS, so hopefully it happens.
Fortnite on Switch and Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma on PS4. Maybe a bit of Here They Lie on PSVR if I want something spooky
Why the heck is MHGU not on this list!? It just came out guys and I'm sure a bunch of folks here are playing it like me!
I'm also finishing up Axiom Verge and Wolfenstein 2 this weekend.
Why is Xenoblade 2 not in that list
I'll be trying to get through Oxenfree as a managed to snag it for $5 on sale a while back. I'm like Gavin in that the characters are a bit annoying, with Melissa kinda being a bit of a b-word. Still it's only around 3 hrs long and I heard the story is pretty good.
Afterwards I'll try to continue playing Splatoon 2 and finally finish the story mode or I'll just continue playing wario ware gold. Is it just me or is anyone else having mike issues with that game?
Some Splatoon 2!
This week will be the continuation of Octopath Traveler and the addition of... RiME? Yes, RiME. MHGU was in my GameFly queue next, but was too low a quantity, and RiME was next. It was only in my queue because I wanted to see for myself what the game was about. I'm aware of the bad, the non-sense before it's release, etc., but I want to see for myself. And I must say... chooooopy! HOLY COW!! By and far the worst aspect of it. Other than that, the serenity of it, respectable puzzles, and this "what is this place and where am I going?" feeling allows me to push past it's faults, so I'm decently enjoying it so far. I'm aiming to have it completed on Sunday and send it on its way.
PC - Hollow Knight and Yooka-Laylee
Switch - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
3DS - Animal Crossing (just started over with my brother)
However, my Spider-man PS4 Pro is coming in the mail Tuesday night and Shadow I have Shadow of the Tomb Raider pre-loaded on my laptop, so I'll have more games to add to this list soon!
Replaying
3DS - Zelda, A Link between Worlds
I had forgotten how great it is. Uses the 3D really well.
Some Octopath Traveler on Switch and the new Operation: Grim Sky for Rainbow Six Siege.
Almost finished Epic Dumpster Bear on Wii U, neat game. Also getting close to finishing Go Go Kokopolo 3D, great game.
Spider-Man of course. Fantastic game so far
Hollow Knight - finally earned an ending on Friday evening, ( 76%, 37hrs) but lots left to explore it seems.
Dead Cells - love the play loop.
Octopath Traveler - Beens bouncing around between stories, but I might try to focus on one to completion moving forward. Don't seem to have the levels to just focus on one.
Switch: Okami HD/Octopath Traveler
PC: Mass Effect 2
@nintendobynature There are technically three endings to Hollow Knight, but really it comes down to a bad ending and a good ending. Don't want to give too much away but, like Castlevania Symphony of the Night, if you don't have certain items by the time you go to meet the big boss, you can play through to the end and never realise there is something more.
@River3636 I can't wait to get that game! I got YS 8 , Xenonblade chronicles 2, and I bought shining resonance and haven't even played it, but physical versions are my bane! Screw digital! Hope I can get gold story.
Anyhoo, this weekend I'll be trying to finish YS 8, and get along in hollow knight plus paladins for sure! Anyone needs a great paladins player hit me up. I play all roles but prefer support and tank.
@Krull hmm, I never played symphony unfortunately. So not really sure how that one works. I'm not a completionist by any means. I have done some upgrades and gotten charms and all that but, when i get to the big boss, will i know? And secondly, do the credits roll indicating you beat the game even though there is more to be Had? Sorry for the list of questions. Im just not used to a game of this size.
@Thaswizz I was in the same boat buying Shining first. I only played about 10 hours of Y 8 and beat a few indies in between. I will always go back to a Ys game they are awesome. Octopath is great but it is a commitment like Xenoblade which comes out in a month.
Rocket League, Into the Breach, Videokid, and Lifeless Planet.
Definitely not playing Splatoon2 this weekend, or ever again until cloud saves support it. Pointless otherwise.
Into the Breach for me. This is a great strategy game for those looking for an Advance Wars type game (you can't build units in this game like Advance Wars, but the strategy of using the units is similar and a TON of fun!).
@River3636 I love that they're doing a physical release for xenoblade torna but if you have expansion pack it's free. I'm still buying it Shining Resonance case is beautiful so is my collectors Xenoblade, I'm trying find collectors for Octopath before I buy it cause I know I won't get into it until I finish Xenoblade, and YS 8, that not even mentioning I am Setsuna which I'm like 30 hours into. Then fire emblem x persona and first xenoblade for wii u I stil, have to start their let alone finish! So many games not enough time, love that I can take YS 8 with me to work because I can do few missions or farm materials quick, just really fun game. I've been playing on hard whole time and it gets rough
@B238ben I love advance wars, there is an upcoming indie looks really similar though they name escapes me. I'll be looking into the breach , and the messenger. I loved all ninja gaiden games, I still have first one for my nes! Love my old nes even if I have blow on cartridges haha
@Dang69 Unless bringing it different houses how is it really going to affect you after not having it all along? Yeah it should I agree, but it's still great game and fun as a mofo:)
Bought Into The Breach earlier this week - it’s so good. Managed to get all the way through and beat the game now though so probably won’t play much more.
Also picked up Skyrim but I just seem to die every time I meet anyone (probably less than 1 hour into the game) - any tips on how to play the game early on would be much appreciated as it’s not clicking so far.
@SterlingEyes Early on is tough , but focus on destruction magic as their spells there do good damage early on and through out their gzme. There is actually a way to enchant your gear enough give you infinite mana once you level up enough, magic combine with a bow and melee weapon is a good way to start. Have hundreds hours on my Xbox and can't wait get switch version just no time.
Hope you have fun! If you enjoy magic make sure you go magic guild in northern area, quests help you learn new spells and interesting area in general. Expansions are both great too, dragon one gives you whole new continent
Hollow Knight- Switch
Back to the Future 30 Ann.- X1X
@Thaswizz I love strategy games. Recently the Switch has been great for them, including Bad North (real time strategy and a lot of fun), Into the Breach, and is the one you are thinking about Wargroove? That game looks amazing, though I have not seen a solid release date yet. If you are interested in another amazing strategy game check out Steamworld Heist, a turn based strategy game that is a ton of fun. The HD graphics on the Switch are a huge improvement over the 3DS version.
Still playing Octopath Traveller, also been spending some time on Into the Breach. Btw to the older guy buying games and not playing them - I feel your pain! Only way round it I've found is to only buy one game at a time and until it's complete don't buy anything else major! Ofc I stick to this rule ALL the time lol
The main multiplayer games I play online with friends are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Worms: WMD, both on the Switch. I will probably play both this weekend. Other than that, I hope to get some more practice in on Smash Bros for Wii U this week/weekend, since I got back into competitive playing for the first time since February. If I wanna be good at Ultimate, I have to keep improving at Smash 4 to maintain my techniques and stuff. Not everything will transfer over, but some will along with most character knowledge and fundamentals...and I'm rusty on all of them.
@B238ben Yep wargrove is it, looks amazing, and I love more traditional games like Regalia and mercenary saga, also intrigued by civilization 6 release. I'll check out bad north as I haven't heard of it.
Mario Sunshine for me!
I'm playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf again like it's my job. Also played the final boss again in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword yesterday and will put some hours into Metroid Prime 3: Corruption tonight. Great weekend of gaming here!
Probably just Pokemon Go.
Fortnite
Spider-Man (Ps4)
And man this game is my favorite superhero game of all time, and it is my favorite Ps4 exclusive as well.
Okami HD on Switch, cleaning up some sidequests before tackling the end. When I'm done with that I'd like to get back into Megaman X Collection, to be another one of those, and clear Octopath Traveler at last before more bigguns arrive later this months, chiefly the Torna expansion to Xeno2 which I intend to get physically.
@nintendobynature Yes, the credits will roll on Hollow Knight regardless of which ending you get (though you can reload your last save). The bad ending is not a bad place to call it quits, but there are some specific items and places you'll need to visit or revisit to get the other endings. You'll know when you're heading to the final boss area - it's the same regardless. When you beat it, you could then look up to see how to get the other endings. There is a point of no return for the bad ending, but not the other two - and I don't think you're missing much if you naturally go beyond that point (and well done if you did!).
@Thaswizz because it my Switch bricks or etc any more time I put in the game will be for nothing - it's not something I'd want to do again from ground zero
I finally brought a PS4 so will be sinking some time into that (Spider-Man) and still making my way through Hollow Knight on the Switch.
@Krull thanks, that helps. I'm kind of ready to finish it so I just wanted a feel for when I'll be close! Appreciate the info!
I've been playing
Mega Man V
Final Fantasy
Zelda 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Housework. The heatwave finally ended, so I'm gonna do some well-overdue vacuuming.
I'm also gonna try to fit in some Dragon Quest XI, Warframe, Paladins, and the Battlefield V Beta. Possibly Tekken 7 as well, now that the DLC finally went on sale, so I can get the Bowling Mode that they ripped out to sell back later as DLC...I am a consumer...
Been giving my 3DS some attention this week, and I've been getting really into Mario Picross of all things. Midway through the game, and there's a good challenge to the puzzles.
Otherwise, enjoying the Party Crash in ARMS. Picked Byte and Barq for this one. Dr.C is a great fighter, but unwieldy to use if you're new with her, and Barq tends to be hard to utilize to his fullest without experience. It's a toss up.
@Dang69 I understand that and it's a valid worry, but if you played it since release I don't see how this would stop you? I mean I get it because I've lost save files for games that cost me hundreds of hours, but splatoon is a game that can be just fun no matter what. It's not like a long rpg where you waste so many hours, but they progress is important. I I lost all my rainbow six data on Xbox and it made me stop playing, so I know what you mean. There really is no reason such a well seasoned game won't support it
Hollow Knight it is for me! Each new quest you conquer has a meaningful bonus with its completion. I just love exploring the game's world, even if I get stuck far more often than I would want to!
@Dpullam I know what you mean I lost almost 2000 gold like twice and I couldn't stop playing , it's such fantastic word to explore, Reay is a treat of a game.
@Kenology yep, I'm enjoying mhgu tremendously and will be playing a lot of it in the foreseeable future!
@Dpullam Hollow Knight is great. I think I'm well and truly done with it now but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it, despite some frustration early on.
I just got into Pokemon Ultra Sun. Good stuff!
@Kang81 yeah I am really enjoying it and the challenges (just beat the broodmother). The hexes that can increase/decrease the difficulty are a very clever idea
@Do-_One When my little brother was in the children’s hospital for about a year, he found videogames to be a great tool to help him get through it. Hopefully someday your son also finds joy in gaming! (not sure how old he is - maybe he already does)
Dead cells, can't get enough of it, been playing for 2 weeks straight. And some light starcraft remastered sessions on the pc
Ys Viii is keeping my attention this week. Super digging the electric guitar soundtrack
After many many years of putting it off I'll be starting Okami at last!
Ys VIII, a true hidden gem
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy and Spiderman.
Pretty much played Mabinogi and Fallout: New Vegas throughout the whole weekend
I'll be back on my switch in a heartbeat when Pokémon Let's Go releases.
@UmbrageHill I think it is worth that price. I bought it today as well. I used to play it on SNES (I believe) and I liked it. Haven't played it yet, but it is always a fun little time suck.
Monster Hunter Generations ultimate, I'm taking it slow right now, was meant to get spiderman during the weekend but this place I went didnt have it in stock
@xpromisedx No Spiderman love?
@SuperFamBros not yet. Might get it in a sale sometime. But for now I try to grind g rank in mhgu and sometimes play bad north or into the breach if i power up my ps4 i would go for the forsaken expansion but i have no internet connection at home atm
Completed Yoshi's Woolly World and Captain Toad over the weekend, now for Pikmin 3! Seriously enjoying some excellent Wii U games.
@SoIDecidedTo I decided to pick it up and it’s a lot tougher than expected but i like it! I hope they have more Neo Geo sales
I'm on a road trip and decided to only bring my 3DS with me. I'm doubling down on trying to beat the game that seems to never end: Shin Megami Tensei Apocalypse.
@Romanian_Prince Nothing quite gives off classic vibes like that game, at least for me!
@Dpullam Same, that’s one of my childhood gems. It’s a shame that a few levels induce absolute rage.
@Romanian_Prince Can't argue with that. It is so hard to find a game that is perfect from start to finish. As long as the good outweighs the bad right?
@xpromisedx Lol Nowhere near G rank, just on verge of breaking into high rank on village quests though (Haven't played it for nearly a week because of Spider-manm its too good).
@SuperFamBros well i could transfer my progress, so I had to do 2 quests and were in g rank already. I am almost gr3 now. Played almost exclusively solo, which is really hard because quests are always for 4 players...
