Mario Kart VR has been a thing in Japan for a while now, but the concept has only recently made its way to the UK, with Namco Bandai setting up a unit at Hollywood Bowl inside the O2 in London this month.
Simon Davidian paid a visit and shares his thoughts in the video above. As you can see, it looks like jolly good fun, even if it is a little limited in scope - you can't select your character, for example, and are assigned one depending on which unit you pick.
Weapons are physically thrown using your hands, which naturally makes the whole thing feel a little bit different to the 'normal' Mario Kart - Davidian likens the experience to a 'tech demo', which seems a fair conclusion.
The other catch is that it costs £7.99 per person to play, or £24.99 for a group of four people. That's a lot of cash, but then again this is a pretty unique proposition.
Let us know if you'll be making the trip to the O2 to play it by posting a comment below.

Wow, I wanna play this!
I tried a mario kart racing in which the carts you sat it where on a track and moved back and forth with turns, vibrated with bumps. It was 8 person at same time and you all had your own screen. Not vr, but almost. It was awesome. I would love to play mario kart at home, with maybe the Labo kit and vr...
I just got the PSVR and so far find it pretty amazing, so I’d try this out for sure. Bring it to Vegas or LA!! Would be a natural fit!!
@Anti-Matter Do you like anything besides shirtless anime boxers, and DDR? haha.
@Richard_Atkinson OR: imagine this in a bar, and the waiter walking up to the players every time they stick their hand in the air, thinking they want to order a drink...
