Way back in September last year, Danish developer Playdead confirmed the heart-wrenching and award-winning puzzle-platforming of Inside would be making its way to Nintendo Switch. Well, we've had to be patient for a good nine months, but that wait is almost over with Japanese games mag Famitsu confirming the game will arrive on the Nintendo Switch eShop on 28th June.
The same report also states Playdead's seminal platformer Limbo is also due to drop on the same day, marking the first time the game has appeared on a Nintendo console. It should be noted that these dates are, at least for the moment, Japan only. Should Playdead clarify a solid western release date, we'll update this story immediately.

RIGHT
ON
Been looking to play Inside ever since I was at the Danish Game Awards last year and the game cleaned up and took the trays home.
Great games , but I don't see a reason yet to double dip, and owned them on PS4/Vita for a while (beaten them both) so ... will really wait and hope for a humblebundle or 90% sale ...
So Gunbird 2 tomorrow, Mario Tennis on Friday, Lumines on Tuesday, Inside and Limbo on Thursday and Wolfenstein 2 and Crash Trilogy on the Friday. Bloody expensive week ahead for me! What a week of releases that is though. Has the Switch had a stronger single week of releases than that? I don't think it has!
Any news on unexplored?
Hopefully they'll release the double pack for retail like what they did for the PS4 last year.
Having games like this available certainly doesn't hurt.
Where were these great announcements at E3 Nintendo!?
Loved Limbo and I've been waiting to play Inside
Limbo is fun, if the price is right I’ll get both
Limbo was great and I've been looking forward to Inside
And people say the Switch has no games...
@Kimyonaakuma
Most likely not available a full month in advance, like Nintendo are likely to have demanded.
Besides, everything revealed at E3 with nothing for the rest of the summer would have ben a little bland. Plenty of quality AA productions were announced for the eShop at E3 as it were.
Wow, both games are great! Just finished Inside on PC and it's simply brilliant.
Really recommended!
My wallet weeps.
I didn't enjoy Limbo at all. Beyond the cool visuals, I only found a mediocre game with underused mechanics and a pointless ending. It's main attraction seemed to be how many ways the developers could find to slaughter the main character.
Because of this, I have zero interest in 'Inside'.
But it's cool that both games are getting a Switch port, for those who want to play them.
I recently started playing INSIDE... And I thought Limbo was dark!
Very much a step up from Limbo, but much more disturbing. Probably because of toning down the supernatural elements (getting chased by hounds feels scarier than a giant spider leg somehow) and more human look to the child.
Each of those is mostly a one and done game though, I see no reason to get them on Switch when I have both on Steam. I might get their grandpapy though, Another World.
Both great games. No need for me to double dip. If you never played you should definitely buy both
I will not be getting either of these unless they are cheap. Already played limbo on PS3 and it’s one of the few games I felt ripped off buying. It was either $15-20 for barely 2 hours and not worth a 2nd play through. If inside is similar, I’ll be waiting for a sale.
I also fell into the hype for journey, and ended up not liking that either. Too expensive for a short game, that was barely a game.
Might get these now on Switch!
Everyone need to play Inside over Limbo at least in their life. It's a huge beast. It stay on my soul and I finished in at 100% more than a year ago. The gameplay, the deep ambience, the soundtrack are awesome. ADVISE: Play it in the dark, alone and with a pair of earphone.
I have always wanted to finish limbo on Steam... but for some reason I just didn't. Then on gog, I thought: "Yeah, I'll do it this time." If it being portable doesn't allow me to finally complete it, I don't know what will.
I played Limbo many years ago on PS3 and it still sticks with me... looking forward to finally playing Inside (can't believe I still don't have a PS4).
I think I have avoided all the spoilers... or at least I have forgotten them.
While I take these things with a pinch of salt, I saw that IGN had Inside at #1 on their list of the Top 25 Xbox One games.
Definitely picking it up.
@Pod Yes that's true, it would have just made the presentation more exciting if these were included in my opinion.
But I'm happy that these are coming soon regardless
I bought Limbo multiple times on various consoles and PC, and got Inside on PC last year, and both are awesome games. I might be tempted to buy them both again on the Switch, provided the price is right, but I'm not setting myself any expectations regarding price, as most ports of older games to the Switch end up getting priced like a new release, despite the games being already old, and usually discounted on other platforms... which make a purchase frustating. Unless it's a special edition with more content.
I'm in.
Two of the best indie games of the past few years. Own both of those on the PS4, but might be tempted to double-dip if there's a decent eShop sale at some point.
Only ever played the demo of Limbo but after seeing an article aimed at explaining the ending I knew it wasn’t for me as I like my endings to feel like I achieved something and know what it was. So watched the ending on Youtube and yeah, glad I saved my money.
As for Inside, tempted to do the same but if I know the ending, is there a point in playing?
Nice. I think Switch owners are really going to enjoy these games, particularly Inside--that game is polished to high Heaven.
@Fake-E-Lee Haha, nice. If only I could play anything other than the washboard...
Inside is wonderful.
Limbo, not so much.
Will double dip down the line I imagine.
Had Limbo on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Never got to finish it due to not having time to play it. Enter Switch. Will pick these up for sure.
Playdead has tweeted "Worldwide June 28", so you can update your story.
Both games are amazing, but if you have to choose just one, Inside is just phenomenal (even if a little easier than Limbo). One of my best ever gaming experiences.
I don't think I'll double dip though, but everyone who hasn't played these games should get them, can't recommend them enough.
@impurekind Indeed. I don't think I've ever seen better lighting and water effects, and everything implemented so seamlessly. It's like one continuously shot movie.
Interested in that Inside game
Never played Limbo, but INSIDE is one of the best world-discovery narratives I've ever played.
Inside is one of my all time top ten games, I'll definitely go for it again. Would love both packed on one cartridge.
They should release them both together as a bundle; purchasing them individually would be a bit irritating.
And people still complain about E3 Direct? This summer alone looks packed full, and don't get me started on all the stuff due in autumn. I mean, I, too, would have preferred announcements like these in place of the already released Sushi Striker and the Minecraft update (no, 20 minutes of Smash didn't put me off even though it wasn't even the best part of the direct for me), but that's Nintendo's business and I'm no more of a marketologist than the well-suspected majority of the couch advisors around here. And the release calendar looks more delicious by the week even on top of the whole backlog amassed to date.
Tired of Limbo already, is everywhere. Tried Inside on an iPad, though is beautiful not very optimistic on its gameplay on Switch or whatever console. I mean mechanics are so basic you just can play it with simple touch controls.
I hated Limbo, it's one of the few games that I really regretted spending $15 on.
Great news
Awesome! I've already played and completed both on Steam, but I'll probably buy them again just because they are so great. Limbo is definitely an all-time classic.
Everyone! You OWE it to yourself to play Inside! It's one of the few greatest games I've played this generation hands down!
Waiting for the Physical version...as well.
Looking forward to Inside. Always wondered why it was so widely praised. Now I can finally find out for myself.
Both are amazing games, but I've already played them and I don't feel the need to own them again - even on the Switch. I remember Limbo quite fondly. It was the early days of Humble Indie Bundle and I used to play it on my laptop during a particular boring political science lecture. Those were days ...
Anyways, I can highly recommend both games! Must plays imho!
Great games! I especially love the ending of Inside.
If you haven’t played INSIDE and love cinematic puzzle-platformer like LIMBO (also good) or ANOTHER WORLD and FLASHBACK back in the day, you totally should. IMO it’s the pinnacle of the genre.
