E3 has finally begun with EA's 'Play' conference, and FIFA 19 has now been officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch.
The game was already expected to arrive on the console thanks to some recent comments from the game's producer Andrei Lazarescu, but this is the first time we've seen official word from EA itself. The game will feature an all-new standalone UEFA Champions League mode, as well as Career mode and Ultimate Team.
The game will be available to purchase at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop worldwide on 28th September.
Will you be diving into the Switch's second helping of the beautiful game?

Good sign of support, even if it is just FIFA. Wii U only got one IIRC.
Yeah, it's great that FIFA 18 got the World Cup update and now FIFA 19 confirmed for Switch. Very healthy sign for the system.
That's great but why not bring Unravel 2 to the Switch? It's the perfect platform for it and I would expect it to out sell the PS4 & Xbox versions.
Now where is Madden ‘19 (smirks)
Acts surprised
But they haven't fixed the first one on the switch?
guess nintendo won e3 this year ,
thanks EA
Looks like EA doesn't have any faith in the Switch. I wouldn't of minded Sea of Solitude.
@Monkeyofthefunk real strange decision not bringing unravel 2 to switch. Honestly can't understand that one
Why no livestream here? I'd have much preferred to chat with peeps on here, rather than the toxic chat on Push Square.
You would almost think they actually read internet comment threads and we straight up make their business decisions: “ea sucks” “ea doesn’t support Nintendo “ “etc”
why not Unravel?
Like expected EA sees the Switch as a FIFA machine and nothing more.
Unravel 2 would be perfect because of co-op but nope.
Luckily there are other good publishers seeing the switch being worth it, EA is going futher on their "destroy gaming" path.
@siouxrunner15 what wasn't fixed??...I have Fifa 18 and it runs great
EA all I want is Madden and NHL on the go is that too much to ask?!
That’s great.
@Nin10outof10 According to EA...Yes. Got a Nvidia Shield? lol
Not even getting Unravel or SOS, lmfao.
So irrelevant.
Can't wait for Dom's soapbox over this one
I’m not surprised but I am disappoint we aren’t getting at least one more game from EA. Guess it is what it is. At least we are getting a FIFA
That was literally in the only Switch-related announcement from the conference. We didn't even get MADDEN 19!
@kobashi100 Exactly. The first didn't sell well on Xbox or PS but was a very good game and would do well on Switch.
I was hoping for The Sims to be announced for Switch.
I thought Madden would come this year. Oh well, saves money for me.
Still waiting for NHL on Switch! Still playing 07 for PSP.
Soccar support...meh. EA sucks
I remember when I cared about EA.
At least I think I can remember back that far.
Great gowns
EA exemplifies the wall that separates Nintendo from the rest of the games market. We really aren’t playing the same game, are we?
Utter bunk. Madden would do gangbusters on Switch, and I'm pretty sure Unravel would do well too.
EA run by crack monkeys confirmed.
@cyrus_zuo SSX 3 was the last time I gave a hoot.
@Switchitup It does run great but not being able to play friends online is really frustrating. With 19 launching the same month as the new online service, there can be no excuse if it's not in there this time.
@Iggy-Koopa I agree. It doesn’t even make business sense anymore. Almost feels like they genuinely hate Nintendo
"The beautiful game" what's so beautiful about it?... it's just a football game, big deal.
@OorWullie ok I see your point but they did see before Fifa 18 come out that the switch version wouldn't have those missing features...your right tho Fifa 19 better include online this time around
@cyrus_zuo E...A..sports...it’s in the game.
Your not the only one.
But that was a long time ago.
Wait see what online looks like. I need to be able to play with my cousins or no point in buying it.
I cant believe they didn't do Unravel 2 for Switch.
Amazing news, no surprise anyway. The only question left is if is it going to be a complete version as for the other consoles. Will I go all in again? Not sure, maybe just wait for FIFA 20.
@Agramonte I was amazed they didn’t do Burnout paradise as well. Such a gap for racers on the switch it would def sell well. Unravel 2 is indeed bizarre. Seems tailor made
Meanwhile the two games that stole the show, the indie ones, are not coming... Shame.
EA's conference suuuuuuucked!
Yeah I’m not over the top with great support because we got two fifas. Show me something else EA. With that being said can’t wait to see the switch version and if they did indeed upgrade graphics. Probably still no clothing physics.
Let's hope EA put more time into this one
@Paraka Yeah... Sea of Solitude.
@Mr_Pepperami Yeah, I do not get it. And Sea of Solitude? it had no logos on the trailer - so maybe Switch?
Honestly - if the Switch does not get neither but gets another half-baked $60 Fifa - they brain dead.
@Agramonte yeah, it doesn’t even make business sense. There are some real gaps in the switch’s library of games that EA could fill. The obvious one is the sports games but their indie titles surely would sell well. Don’t know the figures for Fe but I’m pretty sure it did well. I’d even say throwing a dead space collection on the switch would be a good idea and surely fairly cheap
@Agramonte EA seems to be full of odd choices.
Sure you get FIFA 19 but nothing else. We havent even bothered attempting Frostbite yet. FIFA doesn't have online friend matches and we blame Nintendo but every other game on the system manages just fine. Oh a free trial for everything but Switch because....why?
Inb4 the port gets features stripped like past Nintendo iterations have been
It's over. EA already won E3.
@cyrus_zuo last time I loved EA was when they had tons of good games for the Genesis. The hate started when they ignored the Dreamcast. That said, I still can’t resist every Battlefield game that has come around and Battlefield V will be no exception! Today I still hate them now for mostly ignoring Switch. FIFA alone is not acceptable enough Switch support to me!
Wow, I wasn't expecting much from them but only Fifa?
As I bought the 18 I won't buy it again this year and probably the next one so it will take a long time for EA to see my money again.
RIP Pro Evolution Soccer now that EA has the licence to Champions League PES will be irrelevant to most. I loved the Master League from PES 5 and that's my favorite football game and until 2010 I was all PES but after that they lost me. And now this happens, I had my doubts Konami wouldn't even try for that Champions League renewal also EA got that money and Now PES will have to go crazy creative and innovative now. It's Konami, so personally I think this is the beginning of the end for PES.
The Switch is never getting a Madden game. Or an NHL game.
@Agramonte - It has the logos of Xbox and PS4 in the post announcement stream. No Switch.
Watch EA blame Fe for that.
I was surprised to see Unravel 2 skip Switch! Given the success of nindies, I can almost guarantee that it would sell best on Switch!
@Paraka Oh, that sucks... thanks for the info.
Uhh that video is the PS4 version? Where the Switch video?
@Kuhang @Mrtoad
konami is dying.
it only hangs barely on 1 lifestring.
metal gear.
don't look supriced if microsoft is gonna buy this company within 2 years.
btw great news about fifa:)
unraveling 2 will also come out.
On a side note, that conference represented everything that I hate about modern gaming, from the rationalization of the subscription model to the dudebro pro gamers, to the obnoxious female host at the beginning of the conference. There were no real surprises (seriously, why is Fight Night such a hard series to revive?), and it seems to reaffirm that EA is one of the most soulless companies in the entire industry.
If this does well I can't see any reason why they won't give us a hockey game, I was sitting in the pub with my mate talking about how good EA was back in the Megadrive days, we had Madden, EA Hockey and FIFA. Great software and good times. Now look at them.
Boo for no Burnout Paradise Remastered Switch port.
I didn't watch it obviously but judging from the derision the EA Conference has been met with online, I'm not sure I missed much. Still, FIFA 18 was good on Switch so a new one is good news.
Had a quick look at the Anthem demo and....wow. AAA Gaming is doomed if thats the future. Derivative and dull.
Looking forward to MS tomorrow now. They've a lot to prove. Bethesda could be good but not in the middle of the night.
at lease konami will have two games, that is more than EA can say for the switch.
Not just a re-skin? Also after online service launches will you be able to play against your friends?
@WiltonRoots
ice hockey and american football games are not that popular outside the U.S.
i would rather see a NHL game, It's a more international sport. almost everybody outside the u.s find american football boring, not so much for the game itself but for the idiotic tactics and breaks. its very slow and boring.
you have to be a born american to be raised with the sport, its in your culture i understand.
NHL on the otherhand has rules and tactics that fits in more worldwide sport and are easier to understand, also much more pace.
its a popular sport in russia, and skandinavian countries.
i myself as football(soccer) fan found those games enjoyable.
but first the switch will have to sell millions more on the american market, before they make a nfl game for the switch.
same goes for pga and NHL.
Talking about PGA.
do you think anybody is going to make any worthy golf game again?
i miss tiger woods pga so much.
the last great golfgame was pga masters 2012
@OorWullie it's gonna be there mate
Surprised that other EA indie game was not announced for Switch. Hopefully it does
@WiltonRoots the variety of games EA had on the Genesis was amazing. Really is a totally different company now. They have no passion anymore and almost seem on autopilot. It’s all business. Such a shame
Side note. Loved NHL on the Genesis. Used to love using the rewind feature when I scored a goal. That siren was the ultimate rub in
@Mr_Pepperami
its just pure business.
nowadays ea don't need other games.
they earn enough money with fifa and dlc.
a shamefull company it has become.
mind that if you work for that company like 30 years, how boring it must be overthere.
my hate against them started with pga masters 2012, when all of a sudden they removed all content from the xbox live store, and ps4 network, because of the tiger woods scandal.
after that released that turd of a game rory golf. with all mayor golf licenses striped.
and now we dont even have a choice to buy another game then fifa.
they are monopolise everything.
@electrolite77
Yeah, I saw nothing in Anthem that interested me outside of the Iron Man-esque flying. Last year, I was looking forward to Anthem as Bioware's return to glory after Mass Effect Andromeda's failure, but now it's pretty clear they're just making a 3rd person Destiny clone with flying that (hopefully) won't have the same content issues as Destiny 2.
When your crowd audience is pretty much only clapping for the announcement of "No lootboxes + Only cosmetic microtransactions" in Battlefield V & Anthem, you know the expectations are set comically low.
@dimi
Online with friends has been confirmed for the Switch version.
Graphics are much better too. Gameplay appears to be much closer to the Frostbite versions of the game.
No Journey mode, though.
@westman98
i played all mass effect games, i dont find adromeda a failure, it was just hard to life up the high expectations of the previous games.
it was a great game, it could have been better worked out, but bad game no.
lets face it, the mass effect series with shepard is one of the best game ever produced. i played alot of games the last 30 years, but nothing comes even close in this genre.
how can you ever do better then that.
still andromeda is a recomended game, if you never played the previous game.
@Inkling Yup. Wii U only got 1 Fifa, 1 Madden, and 1 NBA.
@Monkeyofthefunk I'd like to see that and Sea of Solitude.
@Agramonte
They confirmed you can play with friends online.
Also says it looks a little closer to the other versions this year.
https://press-start.com.au/news/nintendo/2018/06/10/fifa-19-on-nintendo-switch-has-online-friendlies/
all i hope for is a new worthy PGA game.
don't care for what system.
all licenses, all country clubs even the highlands course.
but at this time any good golfgame is welcome, even mario golf.
its a pity there is only one good 3d golfgame out there.
@Banjos_Backpack
i was thinking of buying the game too, but like you say, all these negative comments are holding me back.
so you think i should buy fifa18?
i don't care about the journey mode btw.
Seems insane that unravel 2 is not coming to Switch, reminds me of Sega and that Genesis collection..
Fifa 19 apparently looks closer to the Xbox version than Fifa 18 did!
well I guess it will make the Switch shelf at the store look fuller. Even if it does collect dust.
@JaxonH SOLD! that is all I cared about... that info just made my day. TY!
I'll probably need to wait this year. September is crazy with games.
Lack of Unravel 1 or 2 on Switch is disappointing.
Sea of Solitude looked the most interesting of the games shown. It seems the have the most creative ambition, if that makes sense. I'll be keeping an eye out for more on that and hoping it gets a Switch release.
Unravel 2 and Anthem were also pretty eye-catching in contrast to the sports games I will never be interested in. I respect Anthem's mission statement of trying to blend a stronger story into a multiplayer game, if nothing else.
All in all, a good warm-up for the rest of E3. EA came out with more interesting projects than I thought they would.
I don’t think anyone was actually expecting any announcement beyond FIFA.
As far as I’m concerned EA can all but disappear. I’m not even buying FIFA. The only thing I want is for them to lose the Star Wars license.
I could think of one more EA Game besides FIFA being shown and revealed at the Nintendo presentation. I think it was pretty obvious that it makes no sense for EA to show between all the graphical big hitters a switch port or something.
Maybe Nintendo could sekure one special deal for something... Sims port or something.
There was also anannouncement of Fifa 18 getting a free trial "across all formats", which I was interested in until I looked iylt up and it seems to only be PS4, Xbox One and PC...😐
No.
Of EA’s entire conference, the biggest news for me was Respawn working on a Star Wars game where you actually play as a Jedi. I know it probably won’t come to Switch, but that’s why I have PS4 and Xbox One
@electrolite77 I've seen videos of Anthem and nothing about it interests me, it's just another generic western third party "AAA" game that so many people here clamour for, mech suits, guns, stubble, rubble, foliage and shooting, but in third person rather than first. It's the same old games everyone had on the PS360 but with a better paint job.
@PALversusNTSC Yep it's been a while since I've had a good golf game myself, my last one was Mario Golf on the Gamecube.
@Mr_Pepperami Yeah. I wasn’t expecting anything but FIFA so I’m not disappointed. It just seems stupid on EA’s part. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo also hated EA. I’ll be disappointed if Square, Bethesda and Ubisoft have nothing to announce for the Switch.
While I’m not likely to pick up any game from EA not named Battlefield anyway, only one game for Switch was surprising. How hard can it be to build the non-online-multiplayer games with the Switch in mind?
The Nintendo Switch is doing fine without all these triple pay,er I mean triple AAA titles on it.
I everybody wants these games by a Ps4 or an Xbox One...simple,if people are buying a Switch so it caters for these types of games they are always going to be disappointed.
The Switch console will be pushed on by Nintendo's own games and first party publishers,the indie titles will also help out along with a few ports of older triple AAA games.
Now as the Switch's userbase increases we may see some exclusive content from third party publishers,as there will be a bigger financial incentive.
I would say there will be more EA announced for Switch yet - like Unravel 1/2 and Sea of Solitude.
I think this is Nintendo intentionally asking companies to hold information back for their own reveal. I'm sure they did this last year too, to some extent. My guess is we'll hear of one or two EA connected releases in the Nintendo Direct - and a few more smaller ones in a less dramatic way over the next week.
Don't expect much Switch related ANYTHING from the other conferences such as Ubisoft because I would say there is a Nintendo devised plan of action working in the background here to only reveal bigger titles on Tuesday - Fifa is the exception because it's EA's main product.
But rest assured the Switch is a large part of the market now and companies like EA won't ignore that for basic business reasons. Finally lets not forget EA didn't really show many of their cards anyway - just the most obvious.
Bloody boring conference from the point of view of the Nintendo 'type'.
Does anyone know if fifa 19 on the switch will be getting authentic Prem, Bundesliga and la liga gameplay like they get on Xbox and PS4??
No Command & Conquer, No Burnout, No Madden for Nintendo Switch. I guess EA hates our MONEY!
@Meaty-cheeky No guarantee that those would sell well enough to justify production costs. Madden isn't really that popular outside the US, whereas FIFA is pretty much a worldwide phenomenon. Command & Conquer is more well suited to the phone, it would be pretty hard to monetize it well enough on the Switch to warrant the resources necessary for a port. Burnout might do well, but the Remaster didn't exactly light the world on fire on the PS4 and Xbox One. It's a solid remaster, but I doubt it massively helped EA's bottom line. It only topped sales charts for a short time, and that's because the biggest competition it had was Kirby Star Allies.
It's not always about companies not wanting our money. It's about whether or not they think they can get enough of our money to justify spending theirs.
@brunojenso Unravel 1 has been confirmed that it will not be ported by one of the developers in a tweet. I don't believe he said anything about Unravel 2. Basic gist is that it would cost them too much to port it over because they're a small company. EA would have to give them the money to do the port, and they have not done so.
