I've just tried the Kirby demo, it's as fantastic as i knew it would be, love the new a.i friend mechanic, i can see there being some fun puzzles in the main game using it, and the graphics are beautiful, after so many portable Kirby games it's kinda weird seeing the little blob in crisp HD goodness, but a good weird haha can't wait for the game to come out now
It's a good idea for there to be a demo of Kirby: Star Allies. This game needs all the help it can get. I must check when the next big new 1st first party Switch release is. I don't think there is one, we've probably got to wait until June and E3 at least to find out, Kirby and the likes won't light up the charts.
If you want a laugh, check out footage of RTO 2. But don't buy it, it's rubbish.
Oh cool, grabbing that Kirby demo. Will get the game when I'm less broke, primarily for the multiplayer. Does anyone else feel like Kirby isn't truly worth full price, though? Paying the same price for Kirby and e.g. BotW or Mario Odyssey just seems odd to me.
I already downloaded Outlast the day it released,haven't played it yet though as I'm wanting to finish Layers of Fear first. Started that last night and man did it strike fear in me. My skin was tingling all the way through and several times it gave me the fright of my life. Amazing experience.
Detention I had already pre-ordered and I just bought Sengoku 2 as well. The Final Station I'll get in the next few days.Starforce is another definite purchase but that can wait for now.
I downloaded the Kirby demo and I'm glad I did. I don't like it and won't be purchasing the game now. It's clearly not meant for single player and the 30fps it runs at is very obvious and off putting.
Super curious about "The Trail: Frontier Challenge" but won't purchase until I see a few reviews.
Definitely getting "Mulaka". Reviews so far have been positive on the whole despite some bugs which the devs are aware of and patching.
Interested in Damuscus gear but perhaps some footage and reviews first to check out.
Still busy with Dragon Quest Builders, personally. I'm always up for a good Arcade Archives title (particularly looking forward to the Data East ones) - Double Dragon was great, but the more recent ones have been a tad too old for my nostalgia zone.
Whew! My shoulders are aching from carting around all that shovelware... Not a great week for the Switch - even the sales are underwhelming. But a Kirby demo is a nice surprise. I'm pretty sold on the game anyway, but I'm looking forward to giving the pink blob a whirl.
Nothing for me today, phew, got enough to be going on with!
@Dom You missed on Super Toy Cars, which releases tomorrow at 9,99€.
I feel sorry for the dev, regardless to the game's merits.
@SuperCharlie78 Look under special offers
Omg with this 1 euro discounts !! Lol ... only Nintendo do this
Of course Europe gets a Kirby demo when NA doesn't.
@Dom Yeah, it's there. But it releases tomorrow, no reason to not include it in the week line up along with the others.
Not that I care too much tbh, but I think it would be fair to edit and give it its visibility. This way it seems it's a doscounted game like the others that have been out for months.
Kudos to Nintendo for having a demo of KIRBY STAR ALLIES. I think every 1st party game should have one (I'd love one for all games to be honest). Lovely treat for my son when he got in from school. I had recently put the game on the 'to-buy later' category but as a vote of thanks for giving us a demo I may revert back to getting it Day 1. Seriously, amazed we still don't have demos for games like ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD and MARIO + RABBIDS KINGDOM BATTLE. Both games are to some degree an acquired taste for many and I guarantee both would sell even more if folks had a chance to try them.
Also, not to be a pedant but there is only one Neo Geo game in this update. The post description suggests a 'flurry of Neo Geo ports'. SENGOKU 2 is the ACA Neo Geo game from Hamster. The other game is STARFORCE an arcade game in the Arcade Archives series. This game has nothing to do with the Neo Geo.
Nothing for me except the Kirby demo, I am gonna pick up Slime-San later since its still on sale though so that should keep me busy.
WHY IS THE KIRBY DEMO UK ONLY
I HAVE SO MANY ESHOP ACCOUNTS NOW
@russellohh I've downloaded it from the Italian eShop...
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Great games this week. No need to wait until June. Stop your nonsensical negativity.
@Krull There are at least 5 great games there this week. Look better next time.
@russellohh The Kirby Demo is not UK only. It is also in the rest of Europe.
@Cosats His post wasn't event really negative. If you disagree with his statement, feel free to provide an example of a big 1st part release slated for prior to E3. I love my Switch, I am not disappointed whatsoever with the amount of quality software, and I think there's plenty of smaller titles and indies to keep me busy until the next big release - but that doesn't somehow invalidate the statement that there isn't a big 1st party release in our near future.
@roadrunner343
I mean, Kirby is a big game. As is Mario Tennis Aces. And even if they're ports, so is DKC and Hyrule Warriors.
These are games that sell millions. That's pretty big to me.
@JaxonH I suppose - Kirby is big, but it's definitely not one of their largest IPs. It seems to sell well, but not outstanding - again, I don't really think that negates the comment that Kirby needs all the help it can get right now. Still, his original comment was the next big game after Kirby - and to be fair, I forgot about Mario Tennis. Hopefully that one is good, after the turd that was on Wii U. As for DKC/Hyrule Warriors, they may be great games, but it's hard to get overly excited as they are ports of old games. Nothing against those games, and if you've not played them or you love them enough to double dip, have at it - but I think the original point was pretty clearly focused on the next big new 1st party release, which is pretty sparse right now.
@roadrunner343
Well, right. It's certainly no Mario or Zelda.
But the only games Nintendo has that big are Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash, Pokemon and Animal Crossing.
That's enough for 1 at system launch and 1 per holiday season for a 5 year lifespan of the system. So naturally, the in-between is going to be Kirby-level games.
@JaxonH I won't disagree - like I said, I'm perfectly happy with the amount of smaller titles we've been receiving. However, the original comment was the next big title after Kirby - which there isn't one that I can think of, apart from Mario Tennis like you mentioned. There's not really anything on the horizon that I'm dying to play.
As for "big" games, I'd also toss Metroid, Fire Emblem, or pretty much any new IP Nintendo wants to throw out there. The Kirby games, regardless of their popularity, have always felt like lower budget titles to me, and they never receive the same marketing push as some of the other series.
Lol, stupid Reggie. You can't hold back the Star Allies demo on a region-free system!
Why no NINTENDO LIFE review for Mulaka yet?
Why does Radiant Historia, a remaster, have DLC? : /
I may get bridge constructor
@Cosats Yeah, maybe I was a little harsh. That's five subjectively great games, though. The indie horrors seem decent and there are some respectable ports, but nothing really flicks my switch this week. Am I allowed to say we've seen better release slates over the past 52 weeks?
@BensonUii It's comments like that from people like you as to why you don't deserve Wii U ports on Switch.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
RTO 2 seems to be an unofficial remake of Aliens on the Commodore 64. I haven't watched any videos, but saw a few pictures and it's almost exactly like that game. There are two different Aliens games on C64 and it's the UK one, not the US one.
The original game was hard as hell but I enjoyed it quite a bit so I'm a bit interested to try this too.
@The_Pixel_King Totally agree. Where's the review?
Wow there is some pure stinkers building up on the eShop now..... Spot the Difference..... can you spot my indifference?
Oh sure, EU gets the demo and we don't.
...too much crud, not enough star players. Nothing in there to make me consider splitting time between it and monster hunter.
I think we're in a low profile towards e3 the coming months.
Very interested in Mulaka. Might hold out on a review though and hopefully then I can save/earn more with the changes to gold points.
Heard quite a few worrying comments about Kirby and the framerates online. People saying it’s very sluggish. Really hope this isn’t the case
@roadrunner343 There's more games coming April 20th with the release of Labo. Giant Robot looks great and has been in development for years, the fishing game looks like fun, the motorcycle game seems to have tons of content, and that whole thing is likely to sell like gangbusters.
I want to pick up The Final Station, but we are also getting New Game plus in Xenoblade this weekend. So year. That is what I am getting.
The amount of dross building up on the eShop is getting unmanageable. I check it out once every 1-2 months and there’s far too many mediocre games to trawl through to find the gems. Please Nintendo, give us a ‘dump’ tab or a trash can
@Nintendo_Thumb I disagree quite strongly. I hope it sells like gangbusters, because it's an interesting idea, but I think it's priced far too high for that. The fact that it's cardboard, rather than a more durable plastic, also makes the high price hard to swallow. Everything I've heard so far about the games have basically said they were cool, but felt very limited. It remains to be seen I suppose, but I would still hardly consider a highly expensive, niche product aimed at kids (Cool as it may be) to be comparable to a large 1st party release.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The next big first party release is Labo, if you don’t include Hyrule Warriors. But Labo is not for me. Not sure when Mario Tennis is coming.. but it will probably come in April or May.
@roadrunner343 Well, I can't argue with that. If you don't like kids games rated E for everyone by Nintendo like Mario, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Wario Ware, etc, I'm sure you wouldn't like Labo either, but, I've rarely been disappointed in their 1st party kids games myself. I'm curious, where you heard that it was limited, as, from what the hands-on tests that I've seen from CNET, Engadget, and Kotaku, it was quite the opposite, in fact, I heard someone say that there was more there than they had time to play, and that they had just as much fun with it as their kid. Who did you hear from say that it was limited?
@Nintendo_Thumb It really has nothing to do with not being interested kid-friends games, or games rated E. There's a huge difference between Mario, Splatoon, etc... (Which I love) and an extremely expensive, toys-to-life type product designed specifically for children. I'm sure there will be adults that enjoy it of course, but I think it's pretty clear this is an expensive, niche product aimed at children - not a major 1st part release that is targeted for everyone, that also happens to be kid friendly.
As for the hands on impressions I read, they've been overall positive - but the commonly cite the high price and durability concerns. As for the games themselves, that's what I have read was somewhat of a limited experience. I believe it was on NVC podcast where I heard that. Even in the other, more positive hands on articles (Like Engadget's or Polygon's) they are referred to as mini-games, which implies they are a more limited, targeted experience - not a full blown release.
EDIT: Should have also mentioned, that they did say the Robot game was a bit more feature complete. For $80, that's to be expected though, in my opinion.
Downloaded STAR FORCE, Damaskus Gear and the Kirby demo.
"A Hole New World" wasn't on my radar, but I felt like playing something new, so I checked out the eShop and it caught my eye immediately.
I beat it in about 2 hours, most of which I spent on beating the final boss. Graphically, the game is pretty good, the animations and backgrounds are nice and so is the music. I wouldn't really call the game hard - it's actually quite forgiving (restarts you where you died, game overs send you back to the last checkpoint you passed) and the only really tough part was the final boss.
Unfortunately, the level design is a bit lacking and the upside-down gimmick is underused in my opinion. But still, not bad, I don't regret getting it. Wish Joymasher would port Oniken and Odallus: The Dark Call to the Switch (and hopefully the upcoming Blazing Chrome too).
