Sega enjoyed a good moment in the spotlight late this summer with the release of Sonic Mania, the 2D return to form that the series has been long overdue for. That’s not all the Sonic we’ll be seeing this year, however; Sonic Forces is due out later this month, hopefully to similarly impact the 3D line of Sonic games. Ahead of the release of this game, Nintendo has opted to give Sonic the spotlight in this month’s new rewards.
Though there’s nothing here that’s strictly new, several Sonic games from across the Wii U and 3DS have been discounted by 50%, and a series of other digital awards have been made available, too. Here’s what’s up for grabs:
Platinum Points
– 50% discount on 3D Sonic the Hedgehog (3DS) – 150 Platinum Points
– 50% discount on 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (3DS) – 150 Platinum Points
– 50% discount on Sonic Generations (3DS) – 750 Platinum Points
– 50% discount on Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U) – 750 Platinum Points
– Wallpaper – Sonic Forces – 50 Platinum Points
– November calendar – 50 Platinum Points
– Sonic series: Sonic Style 3DS theme – 100 Platinum Points
Gold Points
– 50% discount on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (3DS) – 110 Gold Points
– 50% discount on Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (3DS) – 110 Gold Points
– 50% discount on Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal (3DS) – 150 Gold Points
– 50% discount on Sonic Lost World (Wii U / 3DS) – 110 Gold Points
What do you think? Will you be picking up any of these? How long do you think it’ll take for Switch rewards to show up? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Sonic Boom discount is not good enough
Japan got this in there my Nintendo rewards and some physical rewards as well which consisted of breath of the wild posters. I was hoping that would happen for North America to but apparently not🤧.
These rewards aren't bad, but I'd replace Rise of Lyric with one of the Mario & Sonic games on Wii U or 3DS, and the 3DS version of All-Stars Racing Transformed with the Wii U version.
All I got was the theme, aka the only thing you fully get from spending points, would be a shame if one of those classic games that everyone should have already became 100% yours after using points on it.
These discounts can’t erase the all the bad ju-ju from yesteryear, Sega. No but seriously I wish that we could get some 100% discounts with our points... I already own some of these but the ones I don’t I’ll have to look up what the price comes to with 50% off. I heard some of those Sonic Boom games aren’t THAT BAD. Or maybe .... AS BAD when compared to other Sonic games...
MyNintendo still sucks a royal donkey. Hopefully whoever is in charge pulls his head out of his donkey and listens to some fan critiques.
Offering 50% discounts is more like it. It's an improvement on past offers anyway.
I was sent my Just for you birthday offers yesterday.30% off 10 Wii U games that I already own and 1 VC game. What's funny is even if I did want to buy the Wii U games again just for the sake of it the system wouldn't let me as I had originally bought them through the Eshop.
Those two 3D Sonic the Hedgehog discounts are mildly tempting since I have been wanting to try one of the classic games...hmm....
Nice to finally see some Sonic related rewards! Too bad I can't use any of them, since I already have all the games.
Why is Super Smash Bros not includes in this joint? I mean everyone knows Sonic is what made that game stand out.
@samuelvictor Any recommendation mate? I really liked the Lost World demo on 3DS so maybe I'll get that one.
@Tyranexx Do it. I would myself but I already bought both of them along with a bunch of other Sega 3D Classics when they were on sale for around the same price. A few bucks plus 150 worthless platinum points each is great considering the job M2 did bringing them to 3ds.
The 3D effect really works well on these games and even if you don’t care for the 3D effect it’s a great price to have these games portable. I even finally beat Sonic 1 with all the chaos emeralds mostly due to the portability factor.
Now hopefully they decide to release Sonic 3/Knuckles. A few more sales on these ones couldn’t hurt the cause. And finally, everyone please stop buying Altered Beast.
I wish this had the prices before or after the discount, like if Generations is cheap enough I might get it but I don't feel like checking...
Debating on getting fire and ice or lost worlds on 3ds but also habe a ton of switch games to get
@roy130390 Don't it starts off good and ends poor with some levels reaching up to 18 mins for me. Out of the 3DS games Ive played (which is all but Racing Transformed) Fire and Ice and Generations are the better of them. Fire and Ice is the best Boom game and is like Shattered Crystal but much better. Generations while nowhere near the level of the console counterpart was worth my 20 bucks. Both are 2d games (even modern stages) but they work well and are good fun. If you dont like the 2d stick with Lost World but Im warning ya it gets REALLY grueling.
Remember last year when these games went on sale at a better discount and you didn't have to spend MyNintendo points? https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/11/nintendo_marks_sonics_25th_birthday_with_digital_sale_in_north_america
Is there a single person here that gives a crap at all about MyNintendo?
@invictus4000 I do too.
I buy all of my games digital, so I appreciate the variety of discounts that Nintendo provides us through MyNintendo. I have redeemed and downloaded probably 75-80% of the offers that MyNintendo has featured ever since its inception.
I already own Sonic Mania, but it seems stingy not to include it in this list. Even a minimal discount would've been adequate.
@OorWullie Happy Birthday! Or birthday month anyway, have a good one.
3D Sonic the Hedgehog is great, BTW, you can't really go wrong with that or Sonic 2, providing you don't already have them of course.
Surprised they didn't go for a 75% off Rise of Lyric.
@invictus4000 I do because i despair how awful it is compared to club nintendo. It's just lazy and it seems Nintendo don't actually care what people think about it
Hahahah November calendar?! That will be so useful!
I've got the first 3 Sonic games on DS. Never could get into the 3D platforming ones.
Here's a idea, why not give us one of the DS Sonic games like Sonic Rush.
"remember when they gave us Wario Ware DS? "
@invictus4000 I got the entire Castlevania collection on discount thanks to MyNintendo. That was around the time Castlevania the animated series was brand new on Netflix.
So yeah, MANY do care about that service.
Could it be better? Hell yeah it could be better.
@Tyranexx I got both of them in this promotion. They're really good.
The "Sonic Lost World" (for Wii U) discount was tempting, but I could buy a used copy for just a few bucks more and not have to worry about further cramming up my flash drive with another large digital purchase.
I think they just had Sonic discounts not long ago, no coins needed.
@chiefeagle02, @eSocrates: Thanks for the feedback! I'll pick up one of the two and play through it, and then if I like it enough I'll grab the other!
Why no damned Switch discounts or free content for my points. This new rewards program sucks as we all knew it would. Club N rocked and I got so many cool collectibles over the years that were never generally sold, greatly increasing their future value. I would rarely even take software discounts saving points for the good stuff. My Switch purchased points are 100% wasted as I don't want poo for WiiU or 3DS. Give us Switch rewards big.N!
Complete garbage.
@samuelvictor Thanks for the recommendation! I do have Sonic 2 from the 3D classics collection so I'll go for Generations or Lost World.
Nice song btw, congratulations!
I'm more interested in the Platinum discounts rather than the Gold discounts lol
