Indivisible has been high on a number of gamer's wishlists for a while - from the creators of Skull Girls it raised over $2 million in its Indiegogo campaign, and has since earned plenty of hype from initial demo builds. Now it's been confirmed for Nintendo Switch for a simultaneous full release with other versions in 2018, and will come with a lovely physical retail edition.
Initially the unlisted video was shared by Dystify, which has also been posted on the game's official Tumblr page.
It certainly looks rather appealing; is this now on your radar?

"Is this now on your radar?"
Yes. Yes it is.
Funny how the first part (fullscreen) is 60fps but when scaled to switch is 30fps...
Wow that was gorgeous! Really digging the aesthetics.
It looks alright.
@crackafreeze and overworld uses something similar to the old school Prince of Persia games. ^_^
Let's hope skullgirls will come to the switch too.
I've played the ps4 exclusive indivisible prototype demo and that one was awesome!
Well this has made my list of games to buy
I tried a beta demo or w/e of this on the PS4 some time ago, I recall not being very impressed at all.
I haven't heard of this game. The art style looks gorgeous! Gotta keep an eye on this one.
Was thinking before of buying it on PS4 now I'll get on the Switch instead so I can enjoy it on the go.
@crackafreeze from what I've played of the PS4 beta, it seems more along the lines of Valkyrie Profile - a turn-based system per se, but party members are mapped to different buttons so the battles allow and pretty much revolve around simultaneous combo attacks. And that's one of the game's biggest selling points for me just like it was in Valkyrie Profile. The art style and the animation (I hear the opening alone was boarded by Titmouse and animated by Studio Trigger) certainly look like my cup of tea as well.
Valkyrie Profile says good morning.
Ive been following this very close for about a year now, it's going to have the Hyper light drifter as well as shovel Knight as secret characters, even that T-Rex guy from Super time force
I really dont like this trend of pre ordering through their own website, its so much easier to just focus on amazon when it comes down to check my preorders.
Looking good! Nice to see them expand their repertoire. The NS is shaping up to have a nice RPG library already! (Well, starting next year, anyways...)
@Juma009 Until it's closer to release time, it's impossible, it's crowd funded. Don't have to give Amazon any money this way, which isn't a bad tradeoff.
Looks cool! Always down for more love on the switch
Those animations are sexy. I'll buy this game just because it's so damn pretty.
Awesome! But not sure if it's something I would actually buy.
Must buy
I knew I recognized this game. It's the one that has a bunch of guest characters from other games. People like Shovel Knight and Shantae.
This looks interesting. An "RPG" but with what looks like a 2D platforming overworld and battles that seem to not have menus? And the art style is excellent. Definitely on my radar for physical, and I know 505 usually publishes quality so I'm guessing it will be polished on arrival. Not going to preorder this far in advance (and can't find preorders) but it looks great so far!
Physical? Oh yes please. Day one purchase now. Give us skullgirls on a cart too.
I think this game looks great, and from what I've seen from mentions of those that have checked it out it's looking to be pretty good. Definitely was on the look out for this. I was considering this for PS4, but if it's getting switch release that changes things.
I'll buy the physical copy if that is available day one.
@-Green-
Uh... no.
Oh cool, I was hoping we would get this game.
Nice. I'll be buying this for my switch.
@Fazermint I'm pretty sure it is.
Indivisible? Wait, didn't the Game Grumps play a demo of it? They did! It already looked fairly interesting back then. But now? Well, you can count my interest as piqued, that's for sure.
This looks great, but where is Rime?
Played the PS4 beta over a year ago, it was very basic. They'll have to have done a lot of work to get me to buy it.
Combat just felt boring.
I remember following this a while back.
Yes, a Switch release lands this firmly on my radar.
This looks amazing, great that its physical too.
Skullgirls is a cult classic- I ordered the Limited Run Games physical version for Vita (still waiting for release though).
Anything from those developers will be on my wishlist, especially with a physical release... And it gets a special edition too? Shoot
Interessed on PS4, very interessed on Switch.
505 Games also the publisher for Portal Knights, so if they can bring this game into physical retail, No excuses for not porting Portal Knights into Switch in Physical retail. Make it happen, 505 Games !
I just played the beta demo on my PS4 and as good as the game looked for me, the battle mechanics...were not. It's not so bad when you're attacking the enemies with a plethora of combos, but when defending it is an entirely different story. While it isn't so bad when you have two members to keep an eye on, more than that is just a mess for me. Your party is placed in a "diamond" formation and it is near impossible to tell who your enemies are going to attack and as a result, timing my maneuvers for shaving off damage taken is challenging for the wrong reasons. It's even more annoying that pressing a button to have all four characters guard from attacks consumes a "Mana" gauge of some sort and unless if the battle system was actually well-designed, the fact that having all characters guard to consume mana is just bad game design.
The Mario & Luigi games were far better than this and with Paper Jam, you have three characters to keep an eye on, but the difference with PJ is that the enemies give you enough confidence to know what the enemy is going to do and who to attack, plus a button to have all Bros guard doesn't consume anything (aside from shaving lesser damage taken, but eh).
Overall, I would say Indivisible had promise and its overworld mechanics were something special, but the battle mechanics (as far as the beta goes) are what truly brought the whole experience down for me. Unless if the defensive mechanics were fixed up, I'm gonna give this one a pass.
Very cool looking. I look forward to a review.
I wasn't smitten with the concept at the time of the Kickstarter, but it's been steadily growing on me. Looking forward to seeing how this comes out.
@StephenYap3
How long is it until the full release on PS4? It's cause for concern if a central feedback loop doesn't feel very good at this point in development, but there's always a change that combat worked really well but has been broken by a the introduction of a new feature that just needs fine tuning here towards the end.
Backed it some time ago, immediately changed my pledge to Switch Version!
I just placed an order for the physical Collector's Edition on the Switch!!! This game looks awesome and I'm loving the art style. The gameplay is exactly the type of game I like to play. Looking forward to this one and happy to support a studio like this by pre-ordering a physical version! So many cosplay ideas too, I really want to dress as Dhar!!
Looks like another flash-a-like.
Where are all the textures?
Not for me.
@Drac_Mazoku I live in Canada too and I didn't get charged double for shipping (not that any costs were applied now anyway) but still, my order came to $75.98 - which was $59.99 for the game and $15.99 for the shipping. So I don't know why you'd be charged $90. I did my order today.
I loved Skullgirls and it's art style so I'm feeling it for Indivisible
@-Green- There are also guests from Hyper Light Drifter, Transistor, and even Skullgirls (Lab Zero's first game)
Looks great. Why add platform gameplay, bloody hate platformers, the rest of it looked fantastic. Still it could be worth a purchase if I get a switch
@Drac_Mazoku I hear you on that. I'm on Prime as well and definitely prefer to get a pre-order discount and free 2 day shipping. Alas, looks like for many of the indie/crowdfunding studios, they simply aren't going that route. Heck, even that newly announced Lost Sphear game from Square Enix is only putting the physical version on their own site. I hope this isn't becoming a trend either.
Any diehard completionists should take warning from the beta/demo for this game on PS4: while the base game is a nice enough romp, the devs went out of their way to pack in ridiculously difficult secrets as well, requiring damn-near frame perfect semiblind jumps (on a system with unavoidable wireless controller lag, mind you), using a multilayered hidden mechanic intentionally designed to feel like it's crossing over into bug territory rather than feature, and featuring a brutal battle that pushes the player's reaction time to the breaking point.
Basically, the devs have a sadistic streak a mile wide, and they're not afraid to sneak it into the game as a "bonus."
I was hoping for a turn-based RPG (I by far prefer them to action RPGs), but this still looks pretty fun! I'll keep an eye on it.
Looks good, but must be engaging too, we'll see.
sold!
I think this could be enjoyable in the same way Child of Light was. Hopefully the quasi-turn-based combat feels as impactful as it did in the trailer, and that the side-scrolling traversal has a point to it.
@gcunit If cel animation doesn't appeal to you, fine, but this artwork and animation isn't anywhere near the typical whipped up simple fast Flash artwork you're denigrating. Plus, the pedigree of the team that made the solidly-regarded Skullgirls suggests that the game will be much deeper than the poorly made median of the Flash game pile.
Anyway, looks like it has a good chance of being a solid game, just seems sad to give it an automatic pass based on a sweeping prejudice towards a particular art style.
Nice art style, but sadly only in 2D, so no thanks.
This looks pretty good. I like the pseudo South Asian theme, that's not touched in a lot of games today.
Very pretty, 2D still has a place in gaming.. there is more to having fun than polygons.
Finally another 2D game that doesn't have a pixellated or simplistic style. The previous one was Muramasa for Wii,nine years ago.
So why are you calling this an RPG?
@StephenYap3 It sounds like you did t understand the battle system to begin with, despite playing the prototype which explains the basics of things. Your characters that are targeted by enemy attacks flash before the attack, so you can in fact react and guard with the correct characters.
The mana gauge is a simple risk versus reward system. You build mana by attacking normally. You can spend it to guard your characters to protect them more from damage, or to do special moves, which help you in other ways (some even outright heal you). At the end of the fight, your leftover mana is converted into health.
I get that maybe you didn't enjoy it, and perhaps it could be better explained, but I'd recommend trying it again before spouting "bad game design". These developers are quite talented.
Haven't I seen it before? Looks nice though.
@greengecko007 ...okay, perhaps "bad game design" may be pushing it.
But still, I did not like the game's battle system for one bit, especially the Defensive mechanics. Sure, the character(s) that flash are indicative to being the ones to take the heat, but that only gave me just that one nanosecond to press the right button to guard and just about 80% of the time, I end up kissing the ground because of how annoyingly abrupt the cues are, not to mention that Ajna and Razmi (coming from the demo) can switch places depending on which side the party is at in a battle, which also annoyed me since I have to switch gears on where to land my thumb to bring out the best results.
I am aware of the Mana system being a risk-and-reward feature, but still does the Mana HAVE TO BE CONSUMED through guarding? Sure, the Mana has to be consumed some time, but when I'm in a pinch and about to be Game Over'd while not having enough Mana left to dish out a strong attack from all the guarding I had to do from a stampede of enemy attacks, what can I do? I'm basically dead right there! As I said before, the Mario & Luigi games had the better Defensive mechanics since all enemies gave you enough confidence and time to react, not to mention that they show their attacks and displayed brightly on what they will do and who they will attack. Sure, the Bros dodge attacks instead of guarding unlike the turn-based Paper Mario games, but still...
All in all, I do see where the Skullgirls developers are going with the battle system and as good as it looked in concept, some of its mechanics still need work, in my opinion (I feel that this game would work better without the turn-based battle system). If you (and others) like it, then that's no problem for you guys. I mean, if it works for you guys, it works for you guys. To me, aside from the satisfaction of chaining together combos with your party, the battle system just isn't for me, regardless of how many times I retry the demo...but even then, I've seen worse battle systems (Yo-Kai Watch. Ugh).
@StephenYap3 It sounds like the main thing you don't like then is simply the difficulty. I haven't had any issues whatsoever, and the only time I was anywhere close to death in the prototype was the 2 bosses. But people are good at different things. As much as my friends talk up Binding of Isaac, I have never been able to get past the basement levels consistently.
