It's the start of another week, so we get a look once more at the download treats on the way to Europe; the information is later than normal due to a bank holiday in the UK, so at this point we only have the prices in Euros (a huge thanks to Daan Koopman for sharing his translation of the German press release). The treats on offer this week include a big-name retail arrival on 3DS, a much anticipated Wii U eShop release, a whole load of discounts and more. Let's get to it. [Update: UK prices now added]
Wii U eShop
Axiom Verge (Tom Happ, €16.19 / £13.49 until 8th September, then €17.99 / £14.99) - A title that draws inspiration from numerous classics and that caused a splash on other hardware, Axiom Verge finally comes to its 'home turf' (in Tom Happ's words) on Wii U. An exploration adventure with some handy usage of the GamePad is certainly one to watch; we'll bring you a review soon, but in the meantime you can check out our interview with Tom Happ.
Tetraminos (Sanuk Games, €4.99 / £4.49) - As you'd expect with a name like that this is a new spin on the classic Tetris formula; this budget offering is promising a puzzle mode with 50 levels, an Endless option and local Vs. play. We'll get to a review soon.

3DS Retail Download
Metroid Prime: Federation Force (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) – A title greeted with incredulity and frustration at E3 2015, and which has struggled to turn public opinion around since, finally arrives in Europe. It's art style and Federation Force cast may have dominated discussion, but underneath all of that is a shooter best-suited to co-op play. Actually we liked it quite a lot, strongly recommending it in our Metroid Prime: Federation Force review. Available from 2nd September.
3DS eShop
Chain Blaster (Joindots, €4.99 / £4.19) — The scrolling shmup genre is enjoying a mini-Renaissance of late, with Chain Blaster joining in on the 3DS eShop. In this case the focus is on precise shots to take out multiple chained enemies at once, with wildly firing as many shots as possible somewhat more restricted to tougher moments. We enjoyed this and gave it a recommendation in our Chain Blaster review.

cant wait to not play federation force
Axiom Verge is the only game of real interest there to me. But given its recent sales price on other platforms this looks way too pricey by comparison. The FreezeME discount is very welcome though.
Axiom Verge for me. I will get a physical copy of Federation Force eventually.
If I had the cash I'd download Fed Force. Looks like I'll be holding onto my £15ish eShop credit for a little while longer, though, as nothing else is really taking my fancy.
Oh.....no VC.....clearly some sort of direct or news conference is coming........hahahahaha
Axium Verge and FedForce physical for me.
Axiom Verge is way too expensive considering it's been out on other systems for a while now. Waiting for a real sale on that one and getting Federation Force.
Axiom!!!! It says £14.99 on Nintendo uks website
It is the week of Axiom Verge and Metroid Prime Federation Force.
Going to get both for sure!
Maybe I will try out Axiom Verge this week
Another rubbish week. Maybe they'll start making an effort again after NX launch
It's like waiting for a bus,ye wait for ages then 2 come at once.
No account system = no more full price eshop games for me.
Axiom Verge, I'll see you in the sales in a year or so's time.
Looking forward to playing some Federation Force
Will be nice to play "Federation Force" with local friends at last, but "Axiom Verge" is my pick ofthe week. Sadly I wont be with my Wii U until next Sunday, so... guess ill write more SNES reviews until then.
@Gerbwmu
Like I said before, no VC again this week is due to NOA having to constantly play catch up with EU.
Since we didn't get Puyo Puyo vs Tetris for some unknown reason I hope this Tetris clone is a good one.
Another week of. Nothing
Where are the my Nintendo rewards. All we blah
@kamikazilucas You're so cool and edgy. And such wit as well!
@tjhiphop im so edgy, me not buying a game
Federation Force physical definitely looking forward to the game! Plus the random Mousepad is nice.
Axiom Verge for sure, will get Federation Force someday in the future but Color Splash is a bigger priority as it's the last Wii U exclusive.
Nothing interesting, again. I won't be buying Federation Force as the demo was utterly abysmal.
Chain Blaster for me; been wanting for this for a while too! ill try out the demo first but I'm sure I'd be into it. Studio Mudprints did a nice little review of it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaQyFa_GzEM
Nothing at all for me this week. I'm still not interested in Federation Force, mostly because its main focus is clearly a co-op game, which I've found from experience often results in a lacklustre single player. Plus the visuals and Blast Ball also put me off the game.
@OorWullie or, ye wait for ages then one comes right when you light a Nibelsnarf.
Good week but just the Chain Blaster demo for me. I'm on a €20 a month budget this year and Sony has decided to give away a ton of old arcade games on PSN, so I already know where my money is going this September.
I'll probably get Axiom Verge as part of the Humble Bundle next year for 0,0002 thousandths of a zimbabwean cent.
I've already bought Axiom Verge on Steam, and FF is not my type of Metroid game.
@Dakt Swords & Soldiers 2 is terrible, not on the level of the original at all. Not worth it even at a discount.
What an awful week again. I'm really starting to think that the last game I bought for my Wii U was Splatoon over a 1.5 year ago. Wow so long with so little
On a somewhat related note, I wonder why only now we're getting G-Style games in Europe. Also, what have they been doing since 2014!?
@Lord - you didn't pick up Mario Maker, XCX, Pokken, Tokyo Mirrage Sessions, Star Fox, none of them? Man that sucks cause that means Wii U's games line up has been horrible for you.
@Gerbwmu Well, some Direct better be coming. That, or they plan to explain the NX on release day.
Getting Federation Force physical, and Axiom Verge when I have time to play it properly.
I'm gonna get the Retail Version of Federation Force.
It might not be a true Metroid Experience, but Next Level Games always delivered High Quality Titles, so I'm gonna give it a fair chance.
I would definetly get Axiom Verge, if i didn't already own it on PS4 and PS Vita.
Tetraminos trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nC4QXWvpj0
Actually looks pretty fun.
I love a good Metroid game, Axiom Verge it is this week!
Axiom Verge a defo must own for me this week.
You'd think after getting the Turbografx they'd build up a healthy selection of TG games on the Wii U VC in no time.
Come on Konami, even 3 a month would be serviceable....
@Lord Axiom Verge is arguably and widely considered Literally one of the very best games of the past few years Period that alone negates your comment mate as there really isn't that many times when a game of this magnitude appears on the eshop on a Monday TBF.
Nothing once again. It's not that FF looks bad but I'm just not a fan of the franchise and got too much to play atm.
Another abysmal week.
Nothing at all for me again. I like the look of FREEZEME but I'm buried in backlog right now so I can wait.
My Wii u is getting more play time than ever right now thanks to xenoblade x which I sat on since Xmas waiting for time to dig into it......brilliant game, I'm addicted!! I'm about 100hrs in and haven't even thought about getting a skell yet, there's just so much to explore! It's so good I've barely touched starfox zero which I'd earmarked as a pick up and play casual game, wrong!!( way to much concentration needed). No game drought in my house 😁
@Dakt Swords & Soldiers II is almost never not on sale.
Rivers of Alice looks interesting. Did it get patched though? There are some troubling words in the review.
Another pitiful week.
No VC = no fun!
Vic the Viking theme? I remember watching the original version in French when I lived in Germany as a very small child. Not remotely confusing for a monolingual English child... I quite liked the cartoon though.
These eshop releases... It's like they don't want my money really. Is it too much to ask for a steady release of SNES VC on the 3DS? Nintendo...
Yet another week without a Turbografx-16 game on sight.
@Samurai_Goroh That was quite funny.
@LemonSlice I don't see what's funny about it.
"Inazuma Eleven The Movie (Arait Multimedia, €3.99 / £3.59)"
3.99 .. hahah... wow ... well, so yea, if you feel like donating, you go ahead, the others can go to youtube and watch it for free.
@Gerbwmu I know you were joking, but you ended up being 100% on the money. Who knew.
@tjhiphop - yeah.....I really didn't see that coming......or did I?
Now if my joking prediction of 3 directs in 3 weeks comes true then we will know the greatness of my powers
@Gerbwmu yes sadly mario maker was a massive turnoff and xcx just failed to give me the content that I wanted.(online voice chat with co-op) star fox was ever thing I really did not want it to be ( no online voice chat dog fights, the awful motion controls, the re-hash of 64, the crappy drone missions). Tokyo mirage sessions such an odd game? Might buy if I get chance to try it and enjoy it. And finally pokken just not my kind of game.
Sometimes demos work against a game, sadly this was the case with Chain Blaster, thought it would be incredible but it just turned out to be a bit lifeless and easy. Won't be buying, thanks demo!
The list is incorrect. The Rivers of Alice is NOT on sale.
