It's a Bank Holiday in some countries but Nintendo has still sent out the European Nintendo Download Update details, albeit a little later than usual. This week we have some interesting new arrivals on the eShop stores and a lot of discounts, which are sure to tempt some gamers. Let's get to it.
Wii U eShop
Sweetest Thing (Joindots, €6.99/ £5.49) - This is a cheery time and resource management game set in 'Candy Land' that has previously been released on PC. Your job is to gather, fix and build to bring the 'realm' back to its best - we'll see whether it's sweet or gives us broken teeth in a review.
REPTILIAN REBELLION (Herrero, €1.99 / £1.79) - This looks like a relatively simplistic isometric-view shooter, in which you control a central character shooting at slow-moving enemies coming from the left and right. We'll see whether it's worth a look in our review.
PENTAPUZZLE (RCMADIAX, €4.49 / £4.09) - The latest release from the prolific Wii U eShop developer is a collection of 70 stages in which you rearrange shapes to fill pre-designated areas, with a range of difficulty levels to test your visualisation puzzle-solving abilities. We gave this an 'average' in our review.

The extensive demo can also be used to transfer progress, and we'll see whether it's worth a punt in a review.

"REPTILIAN REBELLION (Herrero, €1.99 / £1.79) - This looks like a relatively simplistic isometric-view shooter..."
Uh? It's not isometric at all, just standard 3D.
I tried the demo for Pocket Card Jockey and really enjoyed it so will buy the full game!
The demo for Pocket Card Jockey really convinced me to buy the full game. Great fun!
2 weeks of no VC? That's not normal for EU, I guess these next months may infact be NA catching up with EU while EU get nothing.
'At least there is still the virtual console' I thought last week...guess I was wrong
Wow that's a shockingly poor selection, even by Nintendo eShop standards.
POCKET CARD JOCKEY is finally here. Aww yiss!
So now you can buy New Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros + Luigi U, New Luigi U and New Luigi U DLC...
That'll confuse some folk
No VC again......clearly a Direct is happening Thursday.....since I'll be driving 10 hours
Great, no VC again!!
@Grumblevolcano they released Super Punch Out on the 3DS eShop last week
@BigBluePanda When I say VC, I mean solely Wii U.
where is TAPPINGO 2?
it was suppose to be on discount this week (last week), but i cant find the game on the eshop
A lot of discounts, but again the same stuff - eg football up 3d seems to be on these lists every week!
Nothing for me, got a humble bundle to work through...
Pocket Card Jockey is just 7€? I liked the demo and was going to get it later but I might pick it up on Thursday due to the low price. I'll get the 10 gold coins I need to get the -10% Fire Emblem discount too.
@6ch6ris6: I saw it when I browsed eShop on Thursday. It should be under the 10th Anniversary Circle sales tab.
Calling it! Direct on Thursday!
GC VC announced,
Luigis mansion, Fzero gx and pickmin 1!!
Pocket jockey for me really loved demo
Out of curiosity, could there be some troubles with Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story? Are they keeping it as Wii U VC swan song? I was expecting it, since SMRPG, PM, M&L: SS and M&L: PiT are all in the Wii U VC.
Nothing for me this week. The Pocket Card Jockey demo was fun, but I think I'll quickly get bored of that game.
Nothing again this week.
A lot of discounts on pretty bad games... Good thing I took the Humble Friends offer...
No VC in EU again, a good week for NA to slowly catch up.
A lot of discounts? Looks like the same bunch of games that are always on discount to me.
@rjejr
Lego City laughs at you from the other side of the pond
Maybe if enough people buy it NoA will consider it.
DANGIT! I'm literally running 50 cents short to get Pocket Card Jockey -_-
Nothing for me this week but I'm not complaining,I've got Starfox Zero/Guard,3 of the Selects and the Humble Bundle games to keep me busy.I finished Shantae and the Pirates Curse yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.I started Darksiders 2 last night and enjoyed what I've played so far but can see it being one of those games I'll never finish.Curious to see what games will be added to the bundle tomorrow.
It said we might be tempted by discounts so i was excited to see. Its the same cheap ass games that go down every other week.
NFMTW
And we're back to "nothing for me this week"
Legendary game in deal of the century, and you know I mean the certain supreme mechanical rodent.
Pocket Card Jockey demo had me hooked. It's an instabuy for me
Concerning we've gone 2 weeks without VC games especially when the point on SNES games on New 3DS was to revive the 3DS VC. I'm just hoping we don't get a repeat of the Wii VC's drought soon...
@Late there is no "10th anniversarty circle" sale.
the game is not listed. nowhere. i cant even find it with the search-feature
I'm fairly sure all those 3DS discounts are always discounted. Bad week.
While not a particularly interesting week, (beyond that horse card game with the awesome demo) the Humble Bundle of last week will get some games added to its second tier tomorrow.
@6ch6ris6: I have some bad news for you. It seems like the game isn't out in Germany: Nintendo Life article
it's getting so annoying to see the RCMADIAX games and the bad EnjoyUp games being discounted every other week. What is the bloody point of releasing crap games and have them in perpetual discount?! Just cut the price permanently...
Ah yeah - I get it - if you discount them week after week, at least they show up in the dedicated "discount" page, while if you just cut the price, they get lost in a myriad of better games...
@Late oh right. i forgot about that. so sad :/
You know what's funny. Nintendo has a sale in Japan for Pocket Card Jockey Laucnh overseas yet refuses to extend the sale to the countries where the game is launching. Nintendo logic...
At least the game is fairly cheap
http://myinforms.com/en-us/a/32177671-pocket-card-jockey-gets-special-sale-in-japan/
It's not so much that some of these games are currently at a discount price, its more that they were over priced from the start.
@sinalefa I'm sure LCU will be a Select in NA March 2017. And if you buy it on Wii U for $19.99 you can then get it for only $10 more on NX.
Pocket card jockey all the way
Not sure what other vc titles I want at this point. I mean, there's a few third party titles and Gamecube obviously, but they're all firmly in the realms of fantasy at this point. While it's disappointing not to see it, I can't think what I'd want them to release.
Haha, this must be a joke or something? Oh wait....
Sad week when a combination of solitaire and horse racing is the most promising looking title.
Not sure what other vc titles I want at this point. I can't think what I'd want them to release.
What about the GBA and DS main Pokémon games?
@Bass_X0 Yep, fire red an leaf green would be great also!!
Who thinks the VC will reset back to nothing again on the nx or keep the wii u library an build on it??
@JH64 I have a horrible feeling they'll try the same trick like they did with the VC on the Wii and then the WiiU, starting again from scratch and paying for the right to "transfer" games you've already paid for. The "Wii mode" was a travesty.
@Deanster101 I think once is ok, but to start again would be unacceptable! Think how big the VC could be now if it built upon the wii library!
I could be the greatest collection of retro games anywhere, could have Saturn, dream cast, GameCube and loads more by now!
@Deanster101
That was under Iwata, the new president Kishiwa or whatever his name is is older and wiser, he will not repeat Iwata's mistake.
Word Party is way over priced even in the sale and WOW to Super Robo Mouse which is on sale not long after being released.
@Bass_X0 Personally, I missed the whole Pokemon craze. Just never got into it. Good shout though, forgot about them.
Nothing this week catches my eye.
Ok I'm just at a loss for words really with NOA!! Now noe doing the same crap!! Unbelievable! This Thursday in the states will be crap also....watch
Good luck with "carrying Nintendo through 2016", 3DS. You're going to need it.
Urgh, the proliferation of crappy RCMADIAX and EnjoyUp games all the time makes me scroll through these weekly articles, barely paying attention to any of the rest of them. I wish there was a way to minimise the blatant turds.
OK, should the 3DS be bringing us through 2016 ?
Well... mmmh..., good luck Nintendo !
@JH64 Hopefully a VC streaming service on NX will solve all issues with VC.
Bang all the games out, charge us £50 a year, kaboom!
What a bad week again.
Card Jockey is really good fun, but Nintendo really?! Another 3DS non-3D game?! Urgh.
@alasdair91 People don't like the 3D, and usually turn it off. In addition, 2DS has sold something like 5 million systems in the West. That represents a massive chunk of the "3DS family" install base in the West. Games are better without the 3D.
