This past weekend the "Fight of the Century" - Mayweather vs Pacquiao - took place in Las Vegas, though for plenty that splashed out on pay-per-view to watch it there was some disappointment. Lacking in fireworks and with a predictable outcome, it couldn't live up to the - admittedly over-the-top - hype.
We already shared one case of the NES classic Punch-Out!! being referenced in the build-up by ESPN, but this video by Noober Goober Gaming went massive, accumulating over one million views. We first saw this today and assumed it was a bit of delicious satire on the whole event, but realised it was actually released before the fight. Hats off to this channel, it totally called it.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.
Thanks to Benson for the heads up.

Booring, but light years more entertaining than the Saturday match that I didn't watch...
Hugs, LOL!
Well done but a little harsh on Mayweather.
It was shown on local Thai TV so i was able to watch it in my room but with Thai commentary I don't understand and adverts between rounds skipping all the corners.Me and my friend just from watching the action assumed Pac was winning and saying if it's not unanimous then boxing has lost what little credibility it has left.Then we were absolutely outraged when the scores were announced so much in favour of Mayweather,not even close.After some cooling down I then read the round by round analysis by the boxing 'experts' on the BBC and Sky and was shocked to see it say Mayweather was in total control and giving a masterclass in boxing.All me and my mate saw was the "best ever' running away for most of the 12 rounds with the underdog being the only one trying to make a fight.I guess you need to be an expert to understand boxing
Even more LOL knowing it was made before the fight.
@OorWullie I'm certainly no expert on boxing but from a technical standpoint, Mayweather clearly won. I was rooting for Pac to knock Mayweather out. That was going to be the only way he would win the fight anyhow. Don't be too concerned about not understanding how boxing is scored. This fight pretty much ended any insurgence the sport had left in it.
HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE
At least this vid is honest about Floyd's impregnable defense. Go in, barely get touched, win a unanimous decision, collect $100 million. That's what he does. Anyone thinking Pac had a chance in that fight was delusional.
@shigulicious Aye yer right,I think I was watching it with so much passion and focus on Pac that I was missing all the shots Mayweather was landing.Kind of like how I watch my team every week,where every single decision by the ref is a disgrace or a conspiracy but to anyone else it's as clear as day the ref's right haha.I'll watch the fight again when it pops up on Youtube and likely see Mayweathers class.
Boxing is still alive and well but these mega matches are dead and have been since the 90s.
@Technosphile I think the majority of us that were rooting for Pac all knew in our heads Mayweather was going to win before the fight even if some said otherwise.If it had been 5 years ago then it could have been different but alas,it wasn't to be.
Glad I don't watch boxing, still kinda funny though hearing what went on through the match.
That is how Mayweather fights. It is not entertaining, but it gets him the win. All eyes were on boxing for the first time in what seems like forever, and it is really too bad that it wasn't an entertaining bout. As a fan I was so happy to see people care about boxing again, even if it was the last time.
100% accurate.
They really should book Mayweather against Cena, then promptly flee the arena and bomb it into the earth's core. The world will be a more entertaining place for it.
Sadly, the fans are the only losers.
@Game-Over
Yeah, cut the multi-millionaire serial domestic abuser some slack!
XD thanks, i needed that
This reminds me of the SNL parody where Pacquiao was portrayed by a Caucasian woman.
There's no blueprint on how to beat my hugs.
This was very accurate
My take on the fight!

@nintendouken Hahaha omg amazing.
People were telling me after the fight, that I could've beaten Mayweather if I was in the ring for that "fight of the century" (Cause i'm a big, tall, and phat guy). I didn't see the fight on the night, but on the following day, I did, and.................................................I had a better experience watching the love guru then that fight : P
@Technosphile Ha, if you thought Mayweather was a legitimate boxer: You're delusional. Impregnable defense my ****. You can't call constantly shuffling backwards "defensive".
The match would've ended very differently if a KO was mandatory.
Anybody who wanted Spurs for basketball and Pacquiao to win must have had a bad night that day. It sucked that my team Spurs lost, but I'm glad Mayweather won. Lol
@nintendouken That was cool, thx for sharing.
@technotaylor98,
As a boxer familiar with the ins and outs, I can tell you, that is absolutely factually incorrect. He was defeated in every facet. He was outpunched (both in amount of punches thrown and percentage of punches landed), out game planned, and completely baited into doing exactly what Mayweather does to everyone: Forces them to charge him and then dodges & counter punches their life away. It's boring if you're not super into boxing, but it's highly effective when you're as talented as him. And he'll have considerably less brain damage than a "charger" who trades punches his whole career.
@PsychoCrusher @Oto thanks!
Not sure which is a harder boss fight in Punch Out, being beat to a inch of death by Tyson/Mr. Dream or hugged and bored to death by Mayweather. In any case I'll still won't be able to beat the game.
Maybe people should watch women's boxing. Layla MacCarter can lay them female dogs out.
This was great!
It was reported that one of the fighters was not in the best shape when he signed the confirmation papers. Their is an lawsuit for this on going right now.
