Virtua Tennis 2009 was unveiled earlier this month for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Now SEGA has said Wii owners will be able to give it a go too with a version that has all the same features and arcade action.
That means a playing roster that includes Rafael Nadal, Venus Williams, Roger Federererer and the like, plus more than 40 court environments. The multiplayer Court Games are said to be a particular highlight; some old favourites will return along with five new games.
SEGA is also promising "an impressive online and offline depth for a Wii title". Specifically, the World Tour Mode "will allow Wii owners to experience Virtua Tennis online".
Great news for Tennis fans and great news for SEGA, I did always wonder why they didn't bother porting over Virtua Tennis, sure it's not going to be graphically anywhere near the Xbox or PS3 versions but with the Wiimote controls its a sure winner.
Expect the game to release just before Wimbledon in May 2009.

This could be cool. Tennis on Wii Sports is the 2nd most fun, bowling of course is the best.
Cool, I can't wait to play as "Roger Federererer" (second paragraph).
I love Virtua Tennis and this should be absolutely huge if they get the quality right. Of course, it would sell ten times better if it were called WII MARIO TENNIS PARTY but then nothing's perfect.
I can't wait for this
