The Entertainment Software Rating Board of America (better known by the shorter title of ESRB) has revealed the name of Konami’s next DS Castlevania adventure: The Order of Ecclesia.
Series producer IGA hinted some time ago that another DS installment was in the offing, but this is the first news we’ve heard since that announcement. There’s no screenshots to speak of at the moment, but we’d put our money on something being shown at E3. It might also be prudent to expect a Christmas release date, as well.
It remains to be seen if Konami will be sticking with the tried and tested ‘Metroidvania’ template (so called because it borrows ideas from Nintendo’s SNES classic Super Metroid) but given the high quality of the recent DS Castlevanias, not to mention the general ‘classic’ status given to the entire series, it’s hard not to get a little bit excited by this.

I'm really looking forward to this.
Admittedly, out of the two DS Castlevanias I've only played Dawn of Sorrow, but that is easily one of my favourites in the series and on the console. I think it would be folly for them to ditch the Metroidvania gameplay.
Now I need to crack on with Portrait of Ruin before this new one comes out!

PoR is brilliant, in fact it's hard to pick between the two games. However, I can't help but feel it's time to move on from the Metroidvania blueprint and try something new, because the last four games in the series have been pretty much the same format repeated!
Quite what they can do aside from Metroidvania I have no idea...
Well the last two outing on the DS has made me a Castlevania fan, so I will sure pick up this one when it comes out.
