I was just looking at the top-scoring Switch games of 2024 according to metacritic and I noticed the top 10 has no Nintendo games which is a little sad:

  • 92 - Castlevania Dominus Collection
  • 90 - Animal Well
  • 90 - Pentiment
  • 90 - Balatro
  • 89 - Neva
  • 89 - Unicorn Overlord
  • 89 - Tetris Forever
  • 89 - Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon
  • 88 - Lorelei and the Laser Eyes
  • 88 - Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

By comparison, the top 4 in 2023 were all Nintendo games rated 92-96.

Tetris Forever is still new, so it's possible it will go lower and Paper Mario could barely scrabble back to the top 10, but every other year of the Switch's lifetime had a Nintendo game in the top 5 and almost always multiple in the top 10.

@FishyS It's an interesting observation. If they'd release Wind Waker or Metroid Prime 2 they could still get in there, but I'm not holding out much hope.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@Ryu_Niiyama Ooo, that looks very intriguing. I like the character designs in that trailer so hopefully they carry over to the finished game. Thanks for sharing.

@FishyS
I don't even care with Metacritic score.
I don't even like with all those Top 10 Switch games you mentioned above.
I know what games that suitable for me and I don't need Metacritic score to determine my game purchase.

@Anti-Matter I agree with you that metacritic score shouldn't really mattering to individuals, but it does matter a bit for advertising/etc., so I assume Nintendo isn't super happy they have been mostly lower than usual this year.

I only played one of those top 10 personally; my favorites this year have not scored well.

Just started getting error code 2110-3128 out of the blue today. Trying everything I can to resolve the issue, but no luck so far. Is anyone else getting this? I haven't had any issues with my OLED Switch up until now.

I don't want to make a whole thread about this. But basically I would really love Diablo Immortal to come to Switch. Seems obvious, really.

"Nintendo Switch eShop closing 2026 in China
Reward programme will compensate users with free games.

Nintendo will close its Switch eShop and all network services in China in 2026.

After 31st March 2026, the digital store will no longer sell games, plus free trials will no longer be available. Then, from 15th May 2026, Nintendo will stop all download and code redemption services, meaning DLC will no longer be redeemable.

All other network-related services will also end on 15th May 2026."

This seems to be more of a China specific thing based on this article but it does make you wonder whether eshops elsewhere may get a relaunch in time for Switch 2, maybe?

I just noticed almost all my internal Switch storage is filled by save files which of course can't be transfered to the SD card. There are 2 issues:

1. Why the heck do some games need 100s of megabytes for save files. Mario maker 2? Sure, I've played 1000s of levels but I could easily fit that information in a text file of a few megabytes rather than 100s-- how inefficiently is this information stored?? There are other games which have 64mb save files even though literally the only saved information is how many levels you have finished — e.g. only a single 2-digit number needs to be in a save file.

2. I have a lot of games but I've also played the majority of demos on Switch which comes out to many hundreds. Considering the unnecessarily large save files a lot of them have, this becomes gigabytes.

So I tried to fix some of this by deleting save files for demos — there is a menu for deleting save files I have never entered before. The only problem is that it is even laggier than the eShop. So far the process to delete one save file has taken me about 5 minutes each. Of course you also can't sort by size (or sort at all).

Why are you like this Nintendo.

@FishyS
Nintendo Switch 2 needs a multiple delete option like PS4 / PS5.
It's painful to delete one by one unwanted save file by waiting the warning sign popped up then the enabled option to delete the save file.

Wait, is there any way to check the files or any stuffs on internal?

@Anti-Matter i actually agree with you on this. The face that it takes multiple minutes to load the save file screen is kind of ridiculous

I am watching The Legend of Zelda: Sands of Time on YouTube. Fan made games can be pretty cool.
