@World I think it was more the atmosphere than the gameplay that made it a success. I remember thinking I had never seen anything like it before, and it seemed to open up a lot of new possibilities for what a 3D platformer could be.

I like that they are adding content to this already very packed game.

I agree. I've noticed the same thing. And all these Switch 2 Editions, as well! Either development took a bit longer than expected, or they're sending out more dev kits now.

recently got my dreamcast fixed and have been playing this for the first time since renting it from blockbuster when it first came out for the N64. Have been loving it so far but there is a point or two that do drive me crazy, but all in all a great game.

@michellelynn0976 It's selling so well that It was the.first sale on a Nintendo console in 10 or 9 years, I am talking about the 50 USD off after the Black Friday fiasco.

I suspect the increase in storage prices across the board is forcing Nintendo to start scaling down cart sizes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if retail games start increasing in pricing compared to their digital counterparts…

Got the game yesterday and I am loving it so far. There is so much content already, and the gameplay is addictive. I have no interest in the online modes, but building teams/changing tactics and playing against the CPU teams is fun alongside the story, Battle Bay and Chronicle modes.

As someone who basically stopped playing FF games with 10, I was not used to having to dodge and move around so much while dealing with commands 😄 (also dangit Barrett, stop getting caught in the lasers after I run through!)

I remember renting this game when it came out. It blew my mind. It pushed the N64 so hard. I think it's a better game than both BANJO's. Second only to the little Itallian plumber himself.

Maybe because I've read actual comics for more than a decade this is literally the most overrated trash I can think of this year. It's nothing new in the slightest, nor is it done that well.

As a Gamer I really miss President Biden. Games were cheaper. Consoles were cheaper. Controllers were cheaper. Everything game related was cheaper. Biden truly was the Gamer’s President.

Never heard of this game. But, I do like comics and superheroes. So I'm down to play this. Hopefully, the Switch 1 version is a decent port.

Lack of good games is a serious problem. Games are what sell a game system. People are tired of all these remakes and games that simply have a switch 2 upgrade. We don’t mind sequels but they either pushed all the really good games off to next year or just didn’t make them at all. If it wasn’t for backwards compatibility I would have never got the switch 2. It’s been 6.5 months and still my ONLY switch 2 game is Mario kart world. And that’s so boring.

Well, I wasn’t aware of this one. I loved Origins.

But so far Rayman 2 has been a really fun surprise. Looking forward to it!

Gotta say the North American one stands out a great deal in a good way. If I was roaming the store looking to buy a game in this era and knew nothing of the contents I would really want to try this one it has so much energy.

If they aren't significantly cheaper then most third parties will still use Game Key Cards regardless of game size.

@electrolite77 that's kind of my point. Offer different options with different prices. Make consumers that want physical carts pay for the extra money it costs to produce them. Its important for me so I'm willing to pay for it. You're happy with GKC or digital and that's perfectly fine. The more options the better

If the game cart doesn't offer fast enough performance, then put the game on the cart anyway, and let me install it to the SSD or SD card, just like I install any disc based game to the consoles internal storage. This has been normal for a couple generations now!

That way the full game is always on the game cart, problem fixed.

Anyone focusing purely on sales and competition is missing the big picture entirely. This news, these numbers, aren't good for anyone . People aren't going to be buying luxury goods when we're on the cusp of a recession, topped with the chip shortage with AI data centers gobbling it all up and companies like Nvidia focusing solely on that market, and focusing less on making consumer grade parts available, everything is going to get more expensive, which means a lot people having to decide paying food/rent or a damn video game

I have a switch 1 but won't be buying a switch 2 until Nintendo sort this mess! Games clearly need to be offered on cartridges by more publishers. 🤞🏻 If this doesn't happen I'll look to move to another platform/console.

Anyways I always thought of it as a Dreamcast game, one of the best platformers it had.

I'd kept meaning to buy the Anniversary upgrade so reading it got me a free upgrade to Switch 2 made me buy it as soon as it was announced. Downloaded it but never got round to it. Yesterday I read this mini review and got curious.

"Surely it cant be that bad' I said to myself. I'm easy to please. Don't care if something is 30fps unless its an online multiplater. I'm rarely annoyed.

The lag on this makes it borderline unplayable. It's like Skyrim but you're burried in treacle.

I loved it on the Dreamcast. Does the switch version include the visual upgrades you would get with the N64 RAM upgrade?

I have this on Dreamcast and played it again on the 3DS and it's one of those games I want to like more than I do. I find the controls stiff and there are some parts that just aren't fun (i.e., any level where you have to ride things). It's held in pretty high regard, as evidenced here, so I always wonder what I'm missing.

Heard big rumors for physical Switch 2 games. Sounds like new card sizes (16 GB & 32 GB) might finally be on the menu.

I saw the Switch 2 with Mario Kart on sale at BJs for $50 making it the same price as the 2 without it. I am NOT saying people are wrong stating that the economy is tough, but honestly there is not a reason to own a Switch 2 at this point.

Donkey Kong is ok, but isn't worth buying a system for. Mario Kart is worse than 8. Metroid I haven't played yet but the whole motorcycle thing kind of killed my interest in it for me. I am not buying Metroid for open world bike riding. All in all, I can't think of a single reason to buy a Switch 2. I'm very thankful for mine, but there is nothing on it that makes me need it. If I was still playing my OLED, I'd be fine. So I think maybe others recognized this as well. Buy your kid a new Switch 2, or just get them 2 or 3 games for their OG Switch. (I'm curious how Switch game sales are for the holiday).

This is what the article doesn't consider. I watched some BlackFridays over here and they were crickets...so that is telling. The economy doesn't give buyers options to spend and when they do it not going to be alot. It's not just Nintendo but the article makes it the sole story. That just a shame I would say....

What the hell? Once you’ve played the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 (and I mean the Dreamcast one, not the PS2), you just can’t go back to the N64 version without that gag reflex taste creeping up in your mouth 🌝

The N64 version has its charm, sure… but yeah. No.

I’ll have to give this game a go, it always surprises me how popular the Rayman games are. Back in the day I assumed it was another generic ‘90s mascot platformer, although I did really enjoy the Rayman game on the Wii U!
