Launching later this week on Nintendo Switch is Mushroom Heroes, a puzzle-platformer inspired by the 16-bit classics of the genre.
The game stars three of these titular mushroom heroes in total and players can switch between each of them to make use of their different abilities. The unique techniques each one can pull off will get you through various obstacles within the game, and judging by the trailer above, you'll be able to combine their skills to defeat tricky enemies:
Jumpi can jump higher and float in the air.
Yuppi can kill enemies with his bow. The bow can also be used to detonate some walls and bombs.
Dombi can block enemies projectiles with his shield, and he can push or pull some objects.
Intrigued? Here's a feature list and a selection of screenshots:
Features:
• 38 Challenging Levels
• Dozens of Unique Puzzles to Solve
• EXTREMELY addicting
• The Ultimate Casual Brain Teaser
It's launching on Switch this Thursday, 30th April and will be priced at £5.50. You can actually go ahead and pre-purchase it as we speak, however, and doing so will grant you a 20% discount.
Like the look of this one? We can't stop humming that music from the trailer now...

I say this a lot but I feel like other games have had these free art assets.
Lost Vikings, is that you?
Reminds me of 'The Lost Vikings' on the Megadrive - great game!
this looks like a bit of fun! Will check it out, thanks NL
It looks adorable, but I'm not usually a big fan of having to constantly switch through multiple characters in games like this. I'll be interested to see what reviews say about that mechanic and might purchase if the flow of gameplay doesn't seem to be bogged down too much from it.
Cough..lost Vikings..cough
Looks tedious
As others have noticed, this looks a lot like Lost Vikings with the serial numbers filed off. The 3 characters' abilities are even the same.
EDIT: Thinking about it, there are worse games to crib from, and the price is pretty good so I may have a look at this. I'd prefer it if they'd done something different with the character abilities though.
90% sale and I’m in!
Never seen these guys in my life, no way these are my distant cousins from another country that they in no way embarrass me at social gatherings and birthdays.
Not at all impressed by this.
If this one not just let me feel like it's like Lost Vikings but gameplay basically IS like Lost Vikings I'm in day 1.
Waiting for years for a Lost Vikings successor.

Did I already mention "Lost Vikings"?
Vikings dressed up as mushrooms, cool!
I now wait for their RTS.
Since there is little to no chance of us getting Lost Vikings sequel, I guess this will suffice
Very cute. Quite the legacy titles they're up against with this, so let's hope they pull it off!
@MatoFilipovic You mean another Lost Vikings sequel right?
Played Lost Vikings as a kid and couldn't really get into it so put it down. Now I'm curious about it because people have mentioned it, seems like I've missed out.
Mushroom Heroes looks a bit slow, kind of reminds me a little of Zelda Triforce Heroes in single player.
Looks cute, I'll grab this with some gold points I have kicking around.
Poor Yellow Toad never got a chance to be a hero like all his friends in the Mario universe.
@sevex Yep
