The lack of an Animal Crossing: New Horizons-specific Direct presentation, or even any new info on the game at all, is slowly becoming a painful daily issue for the series' most dedicated fans. We don't go a day without seeing a decent number of Animal Crossing players pleading with Nintendo for something... Anything.
Well, it certainly has given us something today. A single screenshot. The image below comes from the game's North American Nintendo eShop page (with thanks to @SuperDarkMimeIV for spotting it):
The image shows the player chatting to Cranston the lazy ostrich, a character who was first introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf on 3DS.
We already knew Cranston was in New Horizons, but we'll happily take another screenshot of him anyway. We actually took a look at every character confirmed so far if you're interested in seeing more:
We're going to get more info on this game before it releases, right? 35 days to go.

Brian Cranston confirmed for smash.
Who needs a Direct when you can have a single new image featuring details we already know
That's it. The best part of Nintendo direct ruined... No point in watching the next one... (God I need a direct!)
They'll probably have some sort of Direct closer to launch to build hype for the game but do we even need more info at this point? We already know more than enough really.
the detail of that ant in the grass is so good
I am half tempted to buy the US version of the game; only to get it a week early.
@AlpacaNation1215 - Cranston tries some snacks!
"We'll take it!" yep, NL will publish an article about anything... or nothing.
man these directs are getting shorter
@Welshland Unfortunately, the game comes out on March 20th everywhere in the world - it’s just the Animal Crossing-themed Switch that comes out earlier in the US, since it isn’t bundled with a game code like in the rest of the world.
@Jooles_95 Here in Australia the console comes out on the same day as the game but with no download code.
@Jooles_95; damn, could have sworn i saw a release date for the 13th. Now I feel both stupid and gutted
Animal Crossing can't come soon enough. We are so close! Let's go!
Probably no Direct before release. It's so close to release. They might highlight some gameplay at E3. God bless, and happy Valentine's day 2020, everyone!
this is clickbait
@Mijzelffan Is it? The headline doesn't read in a sensationalized or misleading way to me.
@BenAV I had no idea! To be fair, it’s not much of a loss - it’s actually a little cheaper to buy the console and game separately (as long as you shop around for the physical copy or digital code to get it for less than the standard RRP) than getting the bundle.
@Welshland Sorry, mate. But hey, only 35 more days to go!
@BenAV I'd like confirmation that there's no in-app purchases after all the back and forth before I purchase at the least.
SPOILERS!!!! The whole game is ruined for me now!!!
I don't need a direct at this point. How long have we been waiting for a console Animal Crossing game? Almost 12 years since City Folk? And its even been 8 years since New Leaf released. Nothing to sell the majority of fans on at this point.
@Beermonkey a direct with a pikmin 4 announcement
@Jooles_95 Yeah. I've had my physical copy preordered for a while now and I'm pretty content to just stick with that.
@link3710 Pretty sure that was just everyone trying to read way too much into every little thing. There's no reason to believe that there's going to be in-app purchases beyond maybe a link to buy an online subscription.
Lol I like how people think nintendo owes them a full direct for this. We know so much about this game, any sentiment about not knowing anything is an outdated memetic reaction at this point.
At this point, I wonder why they're not doing daily photos or something like that?
Unless they have something planned for the final stretch, starting March 1st or March 13th, they could literally post photos of rocks and bugs, and people (including myself) will fawn over them.
@BenAV Pocket Camp has made me worried for the future of this franchise tbh.
@CodyMKW I actually went back and zoomed in on the grass XD
You do a video for every confirmed Villager with no write up or pictures in the article. Why does this website even exist? You seem to want to shift everything into video formates forgoing the website instead of making it complimentary. You seem to not understand why the website exists. It is supposed to include all of the information in the video plus extra information that couldn't fit in the video. Every year this website gets less and less content because you push it into easy to make videos. You fail to understand the driving force of video content is the personalities behind the content. Your video guys are not bad, just far from anything I would watch on a regular occasion. At this point I should just about abandon the website as it continues to slide into mostly video articles with less personality. There is near no redeeming qualities in going all videos for NintendoLife.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned how close the camera is to the grownd. Either the dialogue camera will zoom in really close or we can actually zoom in and out in this version (which would be amazing)
