Today's Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase didn't show off the eShop user interface or talk about Nintendo Account or Online Service details - it simply bombarded us with game announcements; you know what? It worked rather nicely.
Nintendo has now followed that up with a tasty infographic showing off games coming to the Switch eShop this year. Just look at it.
We think Nintendo did a good job with that showcase today. What did you think?

The Switch is going to be indie heaven.
I already have Terraria on my PC, but I think I'll buy it again because of the portability.
Shovel Knight Treasure Trove, Cave Story, 1001 Spikes, Shakedown Hawaii, Runner 3, Stardew Valley, Has-Been Heroes, Overcooked...bring on the indies.
Only complaint is that there's still no sign of Guacameele on the Switch, but granted I'd rather have a sequel than another port.
That was a really enjoyable presentation. Pretty short but was just game after game and most of them looked pretty cool.
Also pretty keen on Terraria for Switch.
Do I spy Mutant Mudds lurking down there at the bottom?
Blaster Master Zero! Getting it on 3DS!
As soon as my prototype is ready...oh boy.
Shakedown Hawaii looks EPIC!!
like GTA2 from pc
And almost all of them in either March or April. This is VERY good news.
So. I need to rob a bank. Is that what you are saying Nintendo?
....too mani gaems!
meltdown inevitable
DUCK GAME AND TOWERFALL ASCENSION I'M GOING TO BE THE MOST POPULAR GIRL IN SCHOOL
@Ryu_Niiyama hook me up. we need to get a heist going on
Excuse me while I go take out a small business loan.
OMFG DUCK GAME!!!!! day 1 purchase for me. this game is going to b the bomb portable!! I just got sooo hyped for this release now!! lol crazy times man
@UboaNoticedYou I said the same thing haha duck game is gonna b unreal portable with friends lol
How many of these are:
1. New? (not ports like Terarria)
2. Exclusive to Nintendo
3. Exclusive to Switch (not also 3ds)
It's awesome either way, just curious about this.
The games look good, but I will not be picking up most of them for the switch since I already own them elsewhere. Also are we still get the shovel knight dlc for the wii u also?
I had to make a decision - gaming is limited to me, so I gave up the PS4 for the Switch. It was hard because the PS4 is a great system with lots of amazing games. But with limited funds and with a family this seemed like the better option for me. There will be plenty of games for the Switch it appears.
OH MY GOSH! Toejam and Earl! I didn't even notice it the first time! Overcooked and the new Toejam and Earl were both games I really wanted and are both absolutely perfect fits for the Switch!
I've never been so excited for so many indies in my life! The Switch is starting to look like it very well be the best console out there for indie games!
This site's "click to expand" is a troll (I can't seem to get a fullscreen even in album mode), but the list is impressive. Finally a version of Terraria I can prioritize instead of choosing between bigger worlds on Vita and what used to be a bigger feature package on 3DS. Not gonna have to get Overcooked on PS4 now either. I was pretty excited about the idea of local multiplayer in Stardew Valley as well. Flipping Death also interests me - looks like a platform game with Tim Burton aesthetics and Ghost Trick elements.
Plenty of releases ahead, including timed and longterm exclusives. But remember, kids - NINTENDO SWITCH HAS NO GAMES. insert the dismayed face from the meme
Towerfall!? Now the only indie game I need is Spelunky and I'll have all my favorites. And there are so many other awesome games too. By this rate, I'm going to spend more money on indie games this year than on Nintendo's first party offerings.
@Aslanmagic I'm with you. I learned that when I bought a PS3 and Wii. I didn't have enough gaming time to take advantage of both systems and the Wii got used A LOT more (also partially because I have young children) so I bought a Wii U and NOT a PS4 and in 2 days I'm going to Switch it up.
@mowerdude All DLC will come to all versions of Shovel Knight. Specter of Torment is just launching on Switch first (all other platforms will get it sometime in April)
Meanwhile, on Twitter, RCMADIAX complains about the fact he didn't get a dev kit. What a shame.
April is looking like a particularly good month for Nindies, with at least 5 or 6 titles slated to launch.
I'm looking for Doom. And a Sega rally and others.
C'mon Nintendo!!
@buildz that's pretty ironic considering he was complaining about a year ago how he wasn't going to develop on Nintendo consoles any more.
The Switch's 2017 indie lineup is looking better than the Wii U and 3DS's indie lineup over the last 3-4 years. I am impressed. Can't wait to try some of these games out when I get a Switch.
@Danrenfroe2016
Oh yes 2 fantastic games. I still have sega rally for my saturn and Doom on GBA, can't beat a bit of Doom on the go

This looks like a retro gamers dream ! Nintendo are perhaps cleverly tapping into the retro market . For the first time since I preordered I am really excited about the launch ! Still unsure what I'm actually buying day 1 but seems like there will be plenty of choice !
Quite nice for those of us who completely forgot about today's Nindie blowout.
Indies galore! Very happy about this. Especially Duck Game and Overcooked.
So that's one hell of a list of games - colour me impressed. However I'm still not sold on the switch itself. I want to know whether all these eshop releases are properly inked to an account- meaning we can install them from a download queue to more than one switch if that's the situation. I cannot stand nintendos policy of making its customers buy games for each system they own. The other thing is a lot of these look like the types of games I get on ps plus regularly and am allowed to download to my vita and PS4. I actually just did a scan through it and found the binding of Isaac rebirth on there! I'm downloading it now.
For me Nintendo have to match what other providers are giving us in terms of their service and eshop. I know there are loads of people out there who aren't bothered but it's a deal breaker for me. The final thing is the price of the games. On top of regularly giving them away on ps plus PSN has amazing sales. Unlike nintendos usually 2.50 off a title. Time will tell but I truly hope that everyone getting a switch on Friday loves it and has a blast.
I also hold out hope for handheld versions of
Hyper light drifter
Fire watch
Abzu
Oxenfree
Undertale
These have avoided the vita so would be great if we saw them on the switch.
That... that is a lot of games. Switch will be the system for those of us who like to try things that are niche or outside the blockbuster so-called "AAA" big dev stuff. For my part, I'm pumped for the inevitable glut of JRPGs that this system will have.
@buildz He didn't? Thank Miyamoto.
Flipping death looks like Tim Burton made it,digging the art style
That was an amazing showcase. A lot of those indies looked quality, and there's so many of them YEAR ONE!
Ninty is doing a good job making sure there is going to be a steady stream of software for the Switch.
@NintySnesMan I'm hoping for Doom 2016. However Nintendo does not seem to want M games such as this. And Nintendo needs to buy into Sega exclusive for rally . Would love to see Sega Rally 2017!!!
Wait a minute, Towerfall Ascension?! Oh hell yes.
@BinaryFragger @buildz Thank goodness. You know, there was once a time when I kind of had respect for RCMADIAX, and wanted to see him succeed, because he kept saying he was only making the smaller games to stay afloat while he worked on a really good big game. That "really good" game was Super Robo Mouse, and not only was it a bad game, but you can tell he didn't actually put any heart or effort into it. That's when I lost all respect for the guy. Looking at those new Tweets is just ridiculous. He claims that Nintendo gave early access to the indies that crapped on the Wii U... Actually, most of these developers did have great games on Wii U, and the ones that didn't simply let it alone. RCMADIAX on the other hand... He certainly left a lot of crap on the Wii U eShop.
@nhSnork What browser are you using? If it is Firefox, just right-click the image and select "View Image" to see it in its full size.
Alternatively, you can also save the picture and open it on your PC with whatever viewer you use.
EDIT:
Or... you could just open the direct link to the image in a new window/tab:
http://images.nintendolife.com/news/2017/02/nintendo_unleashes_a_nintendo_switch_infographic_of_confirmed_nindie_games/attachment/1/original.jpg
@darthstuey
They confirmed games are tied to your Nintendo account, so if you buy a new system, you simply link your account to it and download everything. You no longer need to call Nintendo's support to unlink your account from a console and link it to a new one.
@ThanosReXXX they might be on mobile. If they got here by following a link on Nintendo Life's Facebook page, the image won't expand because the FB app uses its own sad excuse of a browser. It works fine on Safari and Chrome.
So, with all the indie games announced/confirmed in the last day or so, it’s clear that indie developers are going to be doing their part on the Switch. And Nintendo is presumably going to be releasing new Switch versions of all its big franchise games we expect to see on the system–hopefully. This means it’s only the AAA third parties that aren’t really on-board yet, which is obviously still a pretty huge issue. Here’s hoping the system is a big enough success and attractive enough a platform to them that we do eventually get to see a whole lot more of those big AAA games, because surely any serious gamer out there wants all those titles on any/every new gaming console (if it’s at all possible).
I hope Cave Story gets that physical release.
@Luna_110 the wii u is exactly the same- but you can only have them on one console. They have not yet said if we will be able to buy a game once (like PSN) and use it on other machines we own.
@DuckyDeer Still, the "expand the image" function on the page here only shows it in one-fifth of its actual size and is still not all that perfectly readable, so opening that link in another tab will give you a MUCH bigger and clearer picture.
@Luna_110 sorry if I'm not making myself clear- let's see me and my son both have a switch- I don't expect to have to buy the binding of Isaac for each machine. If I had two vitas I could install it on both of them if you get what I mean. Sorry again for any confusion. 🤓
Duck Game!!
Now they need to circle the ones that are exclusive to Switch (or even just Nintendo)
I've always been against indie games, because I found their quality to be quite low, but... Celeste, Graceful Explosion Machine and Mr. Shifty look amazing. I'll definitely be getting those, they look like SO much fun.
Nindie support confirmed, then (awesome!), but what about the offerings from MyNintendo? They have to offer something for Switch, right? Would be nice to keep the hype rolling if tomorrow the new rewards are decent.
Yeah, I won't hold my breath... but still a tiny part of me willing them to not drop the ball. Keep it coming, come on...
I thought people were mocking Duck Game being on the list (the title doesnt impress) but can someone tell me why this is so amazing? Never even heard of it.
Definitely getting the Rogue Trooper game! Maybe Shovel Knight too if I have the cash
@mystman12
Since when has there been a new toejam and earl announced?? I had no idea! I hope it has a decent co-op!
Stardew
Blaster Master
Monster Boy
Snake Pass
Shakedown Hawaii
Flipping Death
Pocket Rumble
Mr. Shifty
Runner 3
...just for starters, I've missed plenty.
I love my Switch already xxx
@starman292 ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove was Kickstarted in 2015: tps://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1578116861/toejam-and-earl-back-in-the-groove
And yes, of course it will have good co-op!
The Switch needs a 3rd party presentation.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE It literally just had one.
@mystman12
Man I wish I would of known I would of kick-started the crap out of it lol.
So bottom line, the Switch is going to compete HARD for the indie crown. The fact that there are fun games that (I assume) won't be full retail prices means there will be a lot of bang for your buck. All genres are covered, new faces and old. I'm pretty positive that when I will purchase a couple, another first.
Just to keep it balanced, let's also hope there is some 3rd party love the not indie kind later on at E3.
@PanurgeJr SLIGEACH_EIRE means big triple-A third party games that will also be available on other platforms, like Mass Effect Andromeda and Resident Evil 7. In his opinion, if the Switch doesn't play the games that his other consoles already play better, it's just not worth getting.
@TeslaChippie Why, however do you know his opinion? Might he have shared it with you?
@BinaryFragger I love how he tried to hide under a different user name but TELLS everyone who he is.
I just played Toejam and Earl on the Wii virtual console recently and it lived up to the hype. Some frustrating elements that show their age (i.e. falling down levels and having to SLOWLY walk back to the elevator, collision detection and other issues) but it was surprisingly good, even for me, who has a middling opinion about many famous (i.e. supposedly good) Sega classics.
@BinaryFragger
Hey mate don't give up on your vita just yet. There are 200+ games coming in 2017. Many are Jrpg exclusives plus over 100 indie games. Also there are games announced for it in 2018 already. Many of the indie games announced for switch are already on vita or they are coming. Buy a switch but keep your vita for all those exclusives
@buildz
Lol. Good riddance. When Drop Block U came out, I was like ok, the guy has to start somewhere. After the 3rd or 4th game of crap, I knew the guy was a joke. The best was him "leaving" the eshop cause his brand had a "cheap stigma." It was an oxymoron if I ever saw one. Months later he came roaring back with even worse games and less effort. RCMADIAX is a troll of the eshop.
@TeslaChippie but my pc plays it better then the other consoles,does that mean they are not worth getting? no.
@Rumncoke25 truly excited about all these cool, creative, fun looking games. You bring up price which is interesting. I'm wondering if it's one price for all eShop stuff or if Devs set the price?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE So what's your benefit of Switch having a 3rd party representative? It's not like you're going to buy Switch even if it has one.
Dig 2 looks great, and nice to see Treasurenauts confirmed. Not much else for me, but a pretty good showing overall. Friggin' excited for Zelda!
Without even knowing much about MOST of the games on the list, the following will already be 'definite buys' for me
The Fall 2 (if you didnt play Fall "1", do so. It's awesome)
Mr. Shifty
Steamworld Dig 2
Binding of Issac +
Blaster Master Zero
WonderBoy
Shakedown Hawaii
ToeJam and Earl
I'll even check out this 'Duck Game' if people can explain why...
Not enough exclusives for me to consider the "nindies showcase" a smashing success but still worth watching if Nintendo can get some exclusives.
That Advance Wars-like game looks good, is it exclusive to the Switch, could fill that tactical void.
I was overall very impressed with the Nindie showcase. I wasn't expecting anything going into it, but I was glad to see some cool surprises. SteamWorld Dig 2 looks great, Blaster Master Zero looks intense, Mr. Shifty and The Escapists 2 look like promising stealth games, and it's great to see Stardew Valley with a summer release date. And as before, games like Fast RMX and Snake Pass look awesome.
The only things I was disappointed with were the lack of a release date/window for Yooka-Laylee and no mention of any Shantae ports.
@Azooooz so you just want Nintendo games only
@unoclay Concur that The Fall is a must play and The Fall 2 is a must buy.
@impurekind Very true. Though I suppose there's something to be said for the idea that a "serious" gamer would want the various exclusives of multiple systems and buy multiple systems for that reason, too. Even if Switch got all the big AAA's, if you want Horizon or Uncharted or Last Guardian, you still need that PS4. And if you're a PS4 fan, but you want Zelda and Xenoblade, you still need that Switch. It's probably more the in between. More serious than casual but not hard core enough to obsess over their multi-platform backlog that the AAAs are most important to. (Or me that would much rather buy any given AAA on the console I can take with me )
@Ryu_Niiyama Why rob a bank, doesn't your DS print money?
Honestly, I was hoping to see RainWorld at some point. But I guess it's going to stay a PS4 exclusive... Damn...
@darthstuey Sony has not made it very easy on PS4. I have one and my son has one. In order for him to play my purchases I have to either log out on my PS4 and log into his or register his PS4 as my primary console. Both are a pain because I can not play my PS4 at the same time if he logs into his to play games I purchased. If I make his my primary then I can not do remote play from my PS4 to my Vita. If there is an easier way I wish I knew.
curious about the nba playgrounds game, hope its like nba jam. Also perception seems cool they should have shown that one off in the presentation.
@NEStalgia They do that? For the consumer? See my Zelda edition didn't come with that add on. Does it go into the gba slot? 3ds systems are lazy layabouts as well...all they do is play games.
@BinaryFragger
I was gutted when th ys origin was delayed. I am waiting for Oceanhorn and Rainbow skies,also valkirye revolution. Actually there are lots of great games on there way but some rubbish aswell lol... Do u play killzone online
And that's without RCMADIAX getting on board yet! Just think how many dozens more games we'll get then!
@MoonKnight7 Right? What a disappointment. I got Block Drop U to support him for using the Nintendo Web Framework and I was excited about where it would go from there. It.... never really went anywhere, which was a huge bummer. I can only assume that if the dev kits are, in fact, only ~$500 we'll be seeing a whole lot of games from him in the near future with the word Switch tacked onto them in any number of ways.
Not pumped ! Actually won't be buying any of these games.
@Ryu_Niiyama I saw pictures of it on the internet, so I know it's true!! Maybe the Zelda edition doesn't, you probably need the Pikachu edition. That one definitely does.
3DS prints money too, it's just that that Tom Nook takes it all before you see it
The titles alone scream "LOOK AT ME!!"
@MarioPhD
I've never seen a more disappointing fall of an indie dev. The fact that he "really tried" with Super Robo Mouse, really shows his cards in spades. He belongs in the dark shovelware corners of the iOS app store, and nothing more. So yeah, I expect him to be on Switch sometime in the near future...
I just curious...
Why some of Indie games released in physical form for ps4/xbox1/pc but almost always digital download for Nintendo ? Kinda unfair....
@PanurgeJr He's shared it with all of us. Kinda the local tech snob. You must be new here Welcome!
@cloud36426 I've never had an issue using the vita and PS4 and we are on the same account
Maybe it's because I don't go online to play but I do remember having to stop using ps now once as he wanted to play online
However the games can still be on both machines much like if you had a cartridge to share in a family
Yes you can't all use I at the same time but all you have to do is take it out and pop it in next machine to use
What I suspect is that Nintendo are only going to allow a game to be on one machine at any one time so if he wanted to play a game in the evening he could but say I wanted to play mine later at night it would have to be uninstalled on his and installed on mine
Seems very stupid if the games are supposedly tied to your account
Surely they can see the game is on a machine with your account
Like I say I'll wait and see
As an indie fan and nintendo fan I can't be more happy with this lineup of games. Well, give me a new Earthbound/Metroid and Shantae and I'll be all set.
@TeslaChippie Thank you for the kind welcome. It's a pleasure to be here.
Interesting to see what makes the centre of the info graphic- Shovel Knight Spectre of Torment, with Has Been Heroes, Binding of Isaac, Steam World Dig 2, Stardew, Fast RMX and Snakepass all large and prominent around it- what Ninty see's as the biggest games?
Also interesting to see Rime, Wonderboy and most suspiciously Yooka-Laylee more to the edge in smaller print. Not as big in Nintendo's eyes, or just less exclusive?
@MoonKnight7 - It's a shame yeah.
I enjoyed Block Drop U and so did my brother. It was simple, did what it said it would do, and It was .99 cents on release.
Since then, he's just spammed the E-shop with low quality releases.
@Anti-Matter Don't worry, Some these games will probably get a physical release. It's just cheaper to release it digitally, because of the cost of releasing physical copies, but if there is enough demand for a physical release it is possible for it to happen, although a limited run.
@Azooooz Don't tell me what I'm thinking. I am buying a Switch. Next year most likely when it has a decent catalogue and all the launch issues have been sorted.
Indies used to be crap. That's not true anymore. Nowadays indies can be some of the better games you can find. Not to say some aren't mediocre- many are. But many are top shelf, and I personally find the majority of these games (at least half) to be day-one worthy.
The Nintendo fanbase, although much can be said, definitely appreciates the classics more than any other demographic. So having a lineup with a classic Sonic, Bomberman, classic Street Fighter, classic Wonder Boy, Shovel Knight, that fighting game that looks like a Neo Geo Pocket Color game... these will do very well on Switch.
@darthstuey I hope they do it right. I can use remote play with my Vita, but if I register his PS4 as primary my Vita connects to his PS4 not mine. But you are right at least it can be done even with minor inconveniences. Maybe Nintendo will adjust their stance concerning this.
I've had a bit of an ambition lately of developing a game (I've been working on it a bit) and in the far, far off distant reaches of my hopes and dreams are releasing it on the Switch instead of just iOS and Android, where it frankly belongs. I don't want to be another RCMADIAX. But then, I'm developing all the assets myself, so I hardly could be, eh?
@TossedLlama
Very welcome. I just copied it off a poster on Neogaf, to be honest
Somehow an info graphic that isn't boring
Celeste and Blaster Master Zero are looking like buys to me, and maybe I'll re-buy 1001 Spikes if the price is right and cause the game rocks.
There were a few other interesting looking platformers I may keep my eye on as well.
