Many avid gamers will be aware of the Wind Waker-inspired Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, which released on iOS back in November 2013. After this the adventure was enhanced when making its debut on consoles last year. Now publisher FDG Entertainment has re-confirmed - via its Twitter account - that Oceanhorn will make its way to the Nintendo Switch, noting that the game "will run beautifully".
This was stated alongside the statistic that Oceanhorn has now passed 1 million sales worldwide.
Back in October we covered a press release from FDG Entertainment where it announced the game would be ported to a "Nintendo console", making this release almost inevitable; Oceanhorn currently has no release date apart from "later this year" as mentioned above. The Zelda-inspired adventure released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, garnering mixed to positive review scores. A sequel named Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm is also in development, however has not been confirmed for the Nintendo system at the time of writing.

it looks like interesting...i will buy it in the future...
Aesthetically and mechanically quite the rip-off, but a really good one. Enjoyed the PC port, will double dip for the Switch version.
The Launch year is really shaping up. As long as we can fill the gaps between Zelda - Splatoon - Odyssey we're good.
if only splatoon and odyssey came sooner
I wouldn't call this a plus for Switch's launch year. This game has been out for years on mobile devices already.
Mobile games ported to switch with obviously higher price.
@riChchestM at least you noticed it too
Maybe it's a fun game, I don't know, but man, this graphics. Definition of word 'generic'.
Looks like bizarro world wind waker. I'll probably give it a shot.
Definitely an interest here. Will wait for reviews but I sure hope no one compares it to Wind Waker. Rate it on it's own merits.
@riChchestM Don't care that is was on released on mobile ages ago, just look at it, it's beautiful.
Not trying to be cynical but by just looking at that one screen shot, the word ''inspired'' might be pushing it. lol
Definitely interested. Depending on what it's competing with later in 2017 and its price, I'll definitely grab it sooner or later. Rip-off or not, if it reviews well and the price is right I'm all for anything that does a solid Zelda impression.
That's a really nice pic of the boat and the clouds.
Always good to read about Switch getting more games, thanks to the devs for talking about.
I wouldn't wait on the sequel though, I'm still waiting on the Rainbow Moon sequel Rainbow Skies, announced in 2013 for a release in 2014, then 2015, then 2016, now 2017 but still no date. Small companies are just as good at delays as big companies.
I won't play this until it's on Switch, unless it's on PS+ or a $5 sale on PSN before then. Biggest problem w/ later ports, games on PS4 drop in price fast. Really fast, months not years. Not a problem for Nintendo only people, but X1 and PS4 are up to about an 80mil install base, that's not nothing.
I played this on Android.its a ripoff but a decent one. It cost 5 pounds but a switch version will probably be a lot higher. It's also coming to vita
Words fail me.
Why should we bother with this when we have the original?
@Bunkerneath I did look at it. About 3 years ago.
Holding out for Oceanhorn 2. It looks pretty great.
This looks like a ripoff.
If it's cheap enough and I'm bored enough, I'll give it a go.
This game looks really nice. A shame it didn't come out on Wii U.
It will be good that this is on the Switch because I'd bet quite a bit the sequel will be coming to the Switch as well (It's Unreal Engine 4 and they are promising an iOS version). That sequel is looking good from a recent blog post:
http://oceanhorn.blogspot.com/2017/01/oceanhorn-2-unreal-and-beyond.html
It's important to note that while this game is intentionally a "rip-off" of Zelda, it is still its own story and mythology and the purpose was to bring a Zelda-like game to smartphones and tablets because Nintendo wouldn't (This was years ago). So, they have tremendous respect for the Zelda games and as much as I enjoy this one, they are a growing developer in terms of talent. It's no Zelda, but a nice game anyway. (Remembering it was targeted at touchscreen controls helps you get an idea that the action is less precise for instance)
Sequel looks very promising, though.
Games like oceanhorn and rainbow skies are gap fillers. We could do worse like a smurf or just dance game.. What's that a just dance is a launch game.well the switch is a safe bet then. What I am saying is I would rather have a old rip off zelda game than a updated justdance but that's all down to preferances
This game is on my radar.
It's a good game, I have it on my iPhone, and yes it's a blatant rip off. But it is really well done. I doubt I double dip for the switch, but it's a good option for those that haven't played it to be able to get it.
Now I will say that there is no reason for this to be anywhere near a full price game. 14.99 tops and I think it could sell.
"Will run beautifully on the powerful Switch" Still trying to figure out if that's suppose to be a joke.
Very fun game. Played the iOS version on TV via AirPlay and a MFi controller, and felt that was the proper way to do it. And to be fair, it's less of a rip-off than an homage.
Looks like it's trying to be windwaker so for that reason I'm out!
All I can say is that this game stands on its own merits. Elements are heavily inspired by Zelda but I would not call this a generic rip off at all. It really is a great game and I actually do intend to get it again on the Switch.
I love Oceanhorn! It's extremely fun on my GPD XD android gaming tablet, I'm playing it right now. I want to play Oceanhorn 2 on the Nintendo Switch so I guess I'll have to rebuy Oceanhorn 1 on the NS even if I don't play it.
Been keeping this on my radar for years now. I don't game on my smartphone and haven't gotten it on PS4 yet, so now I'm definitely thinking I'll wait for the Switch port.
@DiscoGentleman
Tch. The sass of Super Paper Mario will be forever documented.
You people keep forgetting 1-2 and ARMS.
I can't be the only one who's excited for ARMS and 1-2, to an extent.
The VC hasn't even been revealed yet.
@DiscoGentleman i think in this case people have played it. I mean it's been out for three years on mobile...
@iGen at $50 a pop I'm pretty sure that you are the only one
@gatorboi352
I'm talking about the games themselves. I and nobody else is going to do $40, $50 for those.
I'm also probably the only one on Nintendo Death, by the way.
@iGen yes
If I recall didn't Nobuo Uematsu do the soundtrack for this game? I remember the music the most when played PS4 version. Definitely will get this to play off TV and/or on the go.
@Alucard83
Your loss.
Got this game cheap in a steam deal. Did finish it, but the whole experience was kinda meh. It felt like if Wind Waker had generic and unmemorable items, characters, dungeons, puzzles and overworld. The soundtrack was ok.
Not a surprise, has been available on the Shield TV for awhile and runs just fine
@Manjushri I know this isn't official in any way, but this website gives a delivery date of 2nd May. Could be right, could be wrong.

More content is always good though I will be skipping this particular one.
I'll definitely be trying this one out, though I have yet to play its main source of inspiration.
I feel like we've lost sight of what the word "inspired" means. If something looks like it could have been pulled directly from what it was "inspired" by, it wasn't inspired by it, it was copied from it. Not that I'm going to make a case for that being good or bad, I just feel like we need to get the word inspired back on track... Otherwise the little word will lose all meaning.
@Manjushri
So? That's like saying Odyssey doesn't matter because it has no release date. The fact remains they're still great games.
Brah. They are making more than one game at a time. 1-2, ARMS, BoTW, Odyssey, Splat, Deluxe, Snip, I could go on.
For the record, does anybody else feel like this system is like what would happen if the N64 and the Wii had a baby? A lot of this...everything...is reminiscent of the 64's launch and general style. Like when Nintendo partnered with IBM? Now they're partnering with NVIDIA. Other things as well, but... Uncanny!
@Alucard83
Yes? Yes to what? Yes to the dress?
Speak, man.
I played this on iPad when it came out and found it pretty boring. It was superficially like a Zelda game, and had impressive graphics and production values for an iOS game at the time, and nice music too. However the actual gameplay had very little of the charm and cleverness of a Zelda game. The fighting was dull with imprecise controls, and the puzzles lacked cleverness and variety. I never tried the console version, so maybe with a real controller instead of touch controls I might have liked it better.
I saw this on Google play, but didn't get it because:
A. I have no controller
B. Might run like crap on a Kindle Fire
Glad it's coming to Switch though, will get it if the price is right.
Switch gets the first game while every other system gets the upcoming sequel. It's like we're going through the whole Wii U debacle all over again. But, regardless, the more games confirmed as coming to the system the better—and it's still possible they'll put the sequel on Switch too. . . .
If it gets anywhere close to windwaker, then I will be a very happy man. So I am looking forward to this game.
@MarioPhD it's 15 bucks on the other systems but PS4 had it for 1/2 off so I got it for $7.50. Not a bad little game at all. I'm sure Switch price will be similar.
@Manjushri they combined their development teams into one unit to increase game output but based on the Switch reveal I don't see evidence of that yet....ah idk what the hell theyre doing! They really grind my gears man! Lol
Did Trump write this? " Will run beautifully on the powerful..."
How about Ittle Dew 2 while you're doing Zelda likes?
Or are they like likes?
"Zelda-inspired". Well that's an understatement.
This looks yummy. Who cares if it bites off Wind Waker. I like the look of it and It has peaked my interest.
I really wanted to like wind waker on gc, but didn't. I wanted to like it again on Wii U, but no. Do I want to play a rip off of it, no. I love Zelda games, but wind waker is my least favorite. I don't care how good oceanhorn might be, it's not for me. But I also say that switch needs every game, so i hope the sequel comes too. I'm sure I'll end up getting one of them someday...
@RoomB31 TIL only Trump uses adjectives and adverbs
Played the Xbox version and loved it can't wait to play it on Switch yay 😁😁😁
@Manjushri
Yeah, brah.
I remember when they could release more than one game at launch.
