Nintendo continues to make changes and amendments to its ink-based online shooter Splatoon, with the latest lot of fixes coming on Wednesday January 20th - otherwise known as "tomorrow".
These include the closing off of various shortcuts and a few fixes to environmental features. There are also some undisclosed improvements which aim to make the whole experience more pleasurable.
Here's the complete rundown of what the patch will change, taken from the official site:
Stage Adjustments:
+ Walleye Warehouse: Adjustments will be made to object placement in Rainmaker Mode.
+ Arowana Mall: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in all modes.
+ Piranha Pit: Adjustments will be made to prevent users from taking certain shortcuts in Tower Control Mode.
Battle Adjustments
+ Museum D'Alfonsino: Fix the issue in modes other than Tower Control in which the area around the central rotating platform was registering as being inked in unintended ways.
+ Mahi-Mahi Resort: Fix the issue In Rainmaker Mode in which breaking the Rainmaker barrier while in the central area caused the special gauge to fill more than intended.
Other
+ Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.
Splatoon has recieved a flood of new weapons over the past few months, the last of which was made available last weekend.

I'll guess that we'll probably have to wait until next week for the final map to land.Just in time for the NL Splatournament 2.Pity we didn't have a better way to stream the best of the action from it,we could have asked @Damo nicely to open up a live chat for it The last one was really great, controversy, comebacks the lot.
I wonder what the shortcuts are.
Most of it is rainmaker from what I can tell and that's ok because that is the only time I play ranked battles.
The change in Arowana Mall may indicate that it will be back in the stage rotation. It's been absent since mid December.
It seems like alot of people on this site cited lack of Splatoon amiibo in stock as one of the reasons they hate the things. Well, here ya go!

@OorWullie googled it and couldn't find anything on nl splatournament 2. any deets on how to watch?
@OorWullie is this confirmed? I hope they add more stages, ones that are radically different than the rest.

@Jamotello It's just something that was organised in the forums,it takes place on the 30th Jan,I forget what time.We had 1 a few weeks back and it was great.4 teams of 4,2 semi finals of best of 7 and then a 3rd place play off and final. There was a couple of players streaming it last time I'm sure.If you check the 'Multi-player thread" in the forums ,there's more info in there,
@Danrenfroe2016 Yep,the next map is the final map unfortunately.Ancho-V Games.it's called,by the looks of it is set in a game developers studio .
The Ancho-V Games map was shown in the last Nintendo direct video I think. It was in the same video that showed Piranha Pit.
We've been playing a ton of Splatoon lately. Can't get enough. Unfortunately we were away for most of Saturday and only were able to play a few matches early Saturday........AGAIN!
If they could shorten those damn 'news' announcements that would be great.
Can anyone help me? I bought Splatoon back in the summer and all this time I've been having lag, or lag compensation, issues.
I tried the nintendo website for troubleshooting but there was no help there. I contacted customer services and they replied with a standard check your connection page but didn't answer my actual problems. I tried them again and they sent me a dead link. Then when I told them about that they sent me a customer satisfaction survey which was also a dead link.
I've looked online but whenever someone says they have issues they seem to be attacked for having a bad connection but I'm an experienced gamer with a good connection that has been thoroughly tested.
It just seems that I can't go a single game without encountering people killing me when they have their backs to me or similar. I've had the awful lag experiences of paint not covering the floor or the other team being able to move through our teams paint as if it wasn't there, etc, etc.
But these seem to have got better noe. Only if there are a lot of foreign players does it sometimes come back but then, nothing as bad as it used to be and I can allow for it but it is much better now than it ever was.
I think I must be going mad. It's like the lag compensation isn't adequate so that what's happening on screen is always a few seconds behind. I get shot and then people come out of hiding in ink form and fire but they've already killed me. Or I'm coming up behind someone and die then they turn round and shoot me. There doesn't seem to be anyway to resolve it.
I'm wondering whether this is due to my having very fast visual processing (it's been tested) as I have always been able to see problems like this in other games before others can but why is it happening only in this game?
I can only play 2 games before I get fed up with what I can see on screen being obviously behind the action.
I have to say I can see these problems on clips on youtube where others aren't mentioning it but on the clips of the testing of the game when Nintendo were using there own servers, there's not a hint of it.
Blah! Any ideas?
Oh, I'm in the U.K if that makes any difference.
@rarnik Two words.
Ethernet. USB. Adapter.
You know what I meant.
@Shikinouta it is ethernetted as I have solid concrete walls which aren't kind on WiFi.
Thanks for the response though.
@rarnik Use Speedtest.net and post results, other than that I'm not sure what else to tell you. Splatoon's servers are obviously in Japan so the Japanese players have the advantage to begin with
@rarnik You could try this,it might help.Just need to manually enter your IP and alter it slightly.

Also change your DNS to 8.8.4.4 or search online for other free use DNS.I've had my problems with Splatoon in the past too but using a different DNS has made a difference for me I'd say.
@Shikinouta Ping 12ms, 13.45Mbps, 1.24Mbps
Used speedof.me for this second one as it's more real world accurate (for me) and got Ping 16ms, 14.58Mbps, 1.27Mbps.
@Shikinouta Oh and Speedtest to a random Tokyo server got me 250ms ping, 5.78Mbos and 0.52Mbps.
@OorWullie Thanks for that. I'll look into it, though I just found this video which leaves me to believe it's not going to be fixed anytine soon.

The game has definitely got better in terms of extreme lag but it's still not playable because of this small scale stuff.
Oh and thanks for the reply @Shikinouta
