DSiWare brought us some terrific bite-sized games, and one of the stand-outs was GO Series: Undead Storm - essentially a mindless zombie-shooting action game from a top-down perspective, it included local multiplayer and seemed like a portable spin-off from the Left 4 Dead series.
Fans of action games in which you gun down zombies should be pleased, then, as developer G-STYLE is publishing sequel Undead Storm Nightmare soon on the 3DS eShop in North America and Europe. Released in Japan on 24th December, this will offer similar action gameplay, a host of weapons to level up and - once again - the option of local multiplayer for up to four players. Beyond the normal monsters and bosses there'll also be the Nightwalker, which will patrol the streets and - if it catches you - summon even greater hordes of zombies.
You can see a trailer for the game here:
This is targeting a late January arrival in North America with a price of $4.99, and should arrive in Europe "shortly afterwards". You can check out a load of screenshots below, so let us know whether you're tempted to blast away some zombies in a few week's time.

do i see 1000yen in the end? that's 10€/$ right?
i am interested in it but i wait for reviews and maybe a sale.
@6ch6ris6 Sorry, meant to add that it'll be $4.99 in the US, which is in there now.
Oh look.... another Zombie game....
Of course I will get it, I enjoyed the first a lot, although online multiplayer would be nice.
@ThomasBW84 ah great so that'd be 5€. that's a good price! still waiting for reviews
I really loved the original one so I hope this one will be just as good as the original.
@ikki5 there really aren't many on Nintendo platforms so this really is needed. You could say that about 2d platform games and be well justified however!
Hm, at first I wasn't too sure about it, but after seeing some of the cool weapons, and that it has multiplayer, I'm really inclined to get this!
Only recently discovered/bought 'GO Series: Undead Storm', quite an excellent game. Looking forward to 'Undead Storm Nightmare' .
Looks to have a lot more depth than the original. This is definitely going on my wishlist (it would be an instant buy, but my eShop backlog says otherwise).
@ULTRA-64 I am talking about the market in general.
Controls on the original were AWFUL, making what would have been a fun little multiplayer game no-fun and painful to play. If they make the new one a dual-stick shooter instead of using the silly L and R to rotate your firing, I'll buy several copies!
My only complaint about a 3ds. No 2nd slider or analog controls. So a game like this is 2x as hard just to play either using hand cramping stylus or unaccurate sholder buttons. This game may be really good, but Id rather just replay dead nation or even how to survive for example just because of the controller.
Getting this for sure. We need more zombie games on the 3DS.
The first one wasn't bad, but way too limited as single player experience (and having friends not willing to even spend 2€ for play multi didn't help XD). This sequel look much deeper and with a much robust single player experience, if no unexpected titles or special offers will show up I could download this day one
Do I see characters from Undead Bowling appearing in the new Undead Storm? Will it have dual-analog style controls with the second thumb stick?
Edit: And now that I've taken a moment to watch the trailer, this looks like a blast. The giant hammer and chainsaw are hilarious and the action looks fairly intense. The 3DS is sorely lacking in action games, so I'm looking forward to this one.
This was great on DSi!
Definite buy for me!
Looks awesome. WIll definitely look forward to it.
Great news! I really liked the original and played it a lot in multi. Combination of four player co-op and cheap prize made a few of my friends get it, so we didnt even need download play, which is otherwise a must since we rarely have the same games.
Yes! I loved the first title, I'm super stoked for this.
Good, because the DSiWare one had crap controls. I preferred Dracula Undead Awakening and Monster Shooter (which was actually pretty damn fine).
Do you only get to play as a whiny girl? Also, those visuals are not the best.
@pek727 So? Graphics don't decide whether a game is fun or not.
@TimeGuy True, but I did not have fun with the demo at all.
