The maze craze comes to 3DS with the world's most famous yellow pill-muncher landing on Virtual Console this week. Elsewhere there's a catch-up on DSiWare and a new WiiWare game, though sadly Wii Virtual Console is left lacking again.
3DS Virtual Console
Pac-Man (Game Boy, Nintendo, £3.60/€4) — The ever-hungry blob is back again, revisiting his Game Boy outing from the early 1990s. Does it have the power to a-maze? Our review will tell all.
DSiWare
My Australian Farm (BiP Media, 200pts / €2 / £1.70) — Ever wanted to run a farm in Australia? Well then this is probably your most anticipated game ever. Released in North America last week, we'll have a review for you quick sharp.
The Lost Town: The Dust (CIRCLE Entertainment, 500pts / €5 / £4.50) — A pretty good action RPG, this is worth a look for its interesting gameplay ideas. Check out our The Lost Town: The Dust review for more.
Go! Go! Kokopolo (Room 4 Games, 800pts / €8 / £7.20) — This game hits all the marks: a hyperactive main character, 'arcade mayhem' and a ridiculous name. Can it live up to its description? We'll see later this week.
WiiWare
Monochrome Racing (Nordcurrent, 500pts) — Racing in black and white? Apparently not, as the press release mentions "the passion for colour!" We'll take a good hard look at this game later on this week.
This is your menu, Europe. What will you order?

If Pac-Man hits our shores this week as well I won't be buying since I'm getting Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions this weekend. Also, why can NA not know what we're getting until the day of? It seems like Europe always gets a heads up press release on Monday. Oh and its a bit worrisome to not see a 3DSWare this week. I was hoping for a steady stream once it started...
Might pick up Pacman, nothing else.
I think I'll just have a glass of water, from the tap. Although, I have been to Australia and their farms look particularly exciting, more so than farms from, say, anywhere else in the world. Even if I did want any of these, I'm still waiting for eShop cards in Europe. Heard anything?
I might get Go Go Kokopolo, that looks fun but I'll wait for the review as I'm not sure if it will be worth 800 points but unfortunately eshop cards still aren't out in Europe and when I phoned Nintendo customer services to ask when they would be out he said he didn't know but it would be September at the earliest and December at the latest.
Oh and its a bit worrisome to not see a 3DSWare this week.
They don't do 3DSWare and 3DS VC on the same day. At least for now.
...aaaaaaand cue 3DS-hate filled article from Jim Sterling on Destructoid.
Though in all honesty this is not so good, as usual.
I hope they get around someday to releasing Contra for the GB, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge or R-Type, e.g actual decent GB games.
This is a meh week. Game Gear games should be coming some time this month though.
any more gameboy COLOR games? the only one is LInks awakening, and i already have it...
@Bass_X0 We got Baseball on 3DS vc and Lets golf 3D on 3DSware last week.
Welcome back WiiWare, I see you've lost some weight.
Nintendo not feeding you enough?
@Bass_X0: Why do you always assume that Nintendo releases their games with a pattern? Your theories have never been right. It's all random, if you ask me.
Please come to NA! "PacMan fever - driving me CRAZY!"
If you want Pac-Man on 3DS, get "Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions" instead of the GB VC version.
@bboy2970: I'd be more worried about the fact the Wii Virtual Console hasn't had a new game in just about 2 months now.
I would buy the Game Boy Color version for nostalgia, it was one of the first two games I got along with Super Mario Advance 2: I want THAT Pac-Man.
This is a stupid idea because Pacman and Galaga Dimensions just came out. If I didn't have that game, I would buy it instantly. Unless It's different, I might just buy it anyway. (Pacman Head)
The Gameboy version is one of the worst versions of Pac-man out there. For the same price you can get a far better version on XBLA.. Hell, it's free on iPhone, Android and randomly typing in Pac-man to Google will get you better versions.
Absolutely ridiculous that they're trying to charge £4 for it. This is exactly why Nintendo is doing so badly right now, they're completely out of touch with the modern market.
Wii VC is dead in my opinion. Guess we will not see Mega Man X now or Mega Man 5. Poor show NoE. Saving my points for La-Mulana if that ever comes to Europe.
Oh no!
The only game that caught my attention is Monochrome Racing, but the trailer made me dizzy. Not interested in Pac-Man and My Australian Farm. Go! Go! Kokopolo looks to chaotic, and even though The Lost Town: The Dust sounds very interesting, the screenshots doesn't excited me at all.
I had the Ms. Pacman version. I'll certainly download this though. Pac-Man on the go without cartridge swapping :3
Just bad. These downloads are seriously lacking, the excusive for 3DS owners this week is... the gameboy version of Pac-Man - for £3.60? Where has the Wii VC gone, does Nintendo think having the eshop means it can forget the Wii shop exists?
Wait, they're releasing Pac-Man on the Gameboy Virtual Console when we just got Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions....?
wat
They want four bucks for Pacman which was even free to play on google.com?
Here's a trailer for this Kokopolo game:

how come japan is still getting wii vc games and everywhere else is getting nothing?
doesn`t nintendo want my money?
well, i suppose they can afford it, especially as the top guys are taking pay cuts.
The only thing wrong with Pac-Man is that you know Namco is going to make it obsolete with one if not multiple compilations.
(well, that and I think the actual cart is so common that it's only worth a buck)
^ It already is obsolete, look up "Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions"
What happened to the wii virtual console service in europe?
If memory serves me right this weeks lack of virtual console games marks 8 weeks straight of nothing being released on the service in Europe
I really feel bad for you
No eShop cards, no purchases from me. C'mon Nintendo, get 'em out already!
My grandfather on my dad's side of the family was an Australian farmer. He had sheep, chickens and apples. Nothing special.
I'm going to guess the North American update will be similar and I will be outraged if our 3DS VC game is Pacman. A Pacman game just released for the system. I don't care what anybody says, this is beyond lazy. I'm not shocked though, that's the Nintendo way these days, lets make things as easy as possible for us. Can't even be bothered to release two VC games a week, absolutely pathetic.
If they released Ms. Pacman it would be a better idea because on Pacman Galaga Dimensions there is only Pacman.
They should have released the GBC Pac-Man: Special Color Edition instead, which also included Pac-Attack in addition to proper coloring.
I would've rather have had the Atari version of Pacman. Pacman eating strange hot dogs instead of pellets, not having his trademark shape, and overall mediocre gameplay? Yes please!
All kidding aside, if the U.S. releases are similiar, then I'll pass again this week.
They might be saving their big guns for the holiday season. Maybe.
I can't imagine Pacman being any good on the GB, and the fact that they have the audacity to price it as a "premium" Gameboy title is completely laughable. You suck, Namco.
Is it the original black and white version of Pacman that they're putting on, or the GBC version (that had Pac Panic on the cart with it)? Because if it's just the old black and white version, then that's stupid for obvious reasons.
They may release it in Europe to get people hyped up for Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions which is planned to release on 26th Aug in Europe. They only justification for pricing it £3.60/€4 would be a working multiplayer for me. Most likely even wouldn't get it then.
Might get The Lost Town: The Dust some time in the future and am waiting for reviews on the other games.
I only own a Wii and I hope that there will be a few more good VC and WiiWare games. I assume the releases are so few at the moment because during summer people tend to spend their money for holidays instead videogames. I hope it looks better again in October.
Nothing that interests me this week. Maybe next week.
I can't imagine playing Pacman without the black background, blue mazes, colorful ghosts, and of course, yellow Pacman/ dots.
I got the Pacman Special Color Edition when it first released on GBC and loved it. It also worked on my friend's Game Boy Classic, albeit with white background and black sprite elements. The only fault with that version, was with the original 240x320 arcade screen scrolling around in all four directions within the 160x144 Game Boy Color screen, it was difficult to guess the positions of ghosts off-screen. I had numerous accidental deaths from colliding into ghosts inside the warp tunnels, which would have been avoided if I could have seen the entire maze.
I can imagine the graphics were really dull with the original GB version, and the absence of Pac-Attack is another minus.
Not interested but there still aren´t any e-shop cards is Finland! Or not in anywhere else either in Europe it seems. There´s still some games I´d like to buy.
please do us a favor and watch the profanity — TBD
@ sfog
But then they wouldn't be able to try to sell you the GB version of Pac-Attack later.
I've read that the Wii VC service has died! what a pitty, oh well another lame week for me...
Sooo... uh, where's the NA download?
"But then they wouldn't be able to try to sell you the GB version of Pac-Attack later."
Good point. That'll probably show up eventually as well.
What a turd, why don't they release something good. someone at Nintendo HQ is taking the piss.
Sooo... uh, where's the NA download?
Americans don't find out until Thursday.
@Yasume: Thank You.
Uhhhh the first video game in history and a farmville-ripoff. I'm so happy about my 3ds, thank you Nintendo.
Irony is used.
@Stardust You do know that you can change the settings on GBC Pacman so that you can see the whole maze on screen at once don't you? (although if you do that, it shrinks all the graphics down to fit on the screen at once, so things are a little hard to see) It works on both the original and GBC versions (as the GBC version is just a colourized version of the old black and white version).
As for this download...well, it's on there now and it is the old version as I feared. Black and white Pacman, where all the ghosts are one shade of grey? No thanks. It just doesn't work for me without the colour, sorry.
@Nightmare_Toad Pacman wasn't the first videogame in history....
Game Boy Colour games should be easily transferrable, and yet we've only seen one, and even that was just a port with added colour from the Game Boy version. WE WANT GBC GAMES! >:U
@26; they never cease to amaze us.
Darn Europe, getting the better game than us. In my opinion.
Allright Toxie, I exaggerated for dramatic effect
Next week we get Pong...
LOL. Never mind Pong, I won't be happy until I get a 3DS update of Galaxy Game
