Has 100 levels of cheese collecting fun. Should be good for 600 points right?
Right from the start it has a flash game feel to it. You play with the Wiimote in it's default position and the menu is navigated by pointer. D-pad to move, B to fire a fireball when obtaining the pepper item, minus is pause and plus allows you to retry a stage. The same music sames to loop so far from to menu to the levels themselves. If this is the only music in the game I could care less though because I actually like it. Feels kinda 80's to me... but that's the my favorite era. You can quickly start of from any level you like 1-100. There are 3 save files, it just saves what level you played through last. It is not that important seeing as you can just choose a level, it's good if you get stuck I guess. So far it's been fun, and I think it delivers in what it is. A combined Adventures of Lolo with Chip's Challenge. Fun game play itself and worth 600 points in my opinion.
There is one annoyance I found. When you die there is a 3 second delay until the retry level box pops up which you have to click with the pointer. If you want to retry quick that badly you can click plus. Might as well say, there are no lives in this game. The only penalty is getting stuck on a level, which you can skip if you want. I say that defines the term to call this a pick up and play game.
Thanks Kaiser. Can you describe the gameplay a bit? KS8-- have you taken it for a spin yet? Checked out your site...
If you look at a video it's pretty self explanatory. Your goal is to unlock the locked door. To do that you have to collect all the cheese in the level. Moving balls, avoiding enemies and thinking ahead. There's a pepper that lets you throw a single fireball. Each level only lasts a couple seconds or a minute... that's the first few at least. According to my Nintendo Channel records I played 3Hrs and 35 Min and I am currently on stage... 46 I think.
I'm going to be honest, when I first saw the trailer I was only going to get it because it resembles the character Maus, in a comic I am making named Mauspek. It looked light hearted and fun which is how my comic is as well. Yes, I am a bit of a fan to the type of game play it presents but the character was my main reason. I do like the game though. Hope Nintendo Life gives it some justice. The only thing wrong I see with the game is the one music that loops and that you have to use the pointer to select "yes" after you die to retry. Other than that though you should be satisfied for 600 points if you like these kinds of games.
It's okay, but there's not much here. It is very much like a flash game, but at least the visuals look nice on the Wii. For me the lack of challenge or any scoring system is the biggest issue. I got stuck on level 10, but you can access any level you want instantly, so I just went back to the menu and selected level 11.
Needless to say this another game that didn't take much time to evaluate, so my review should be up by the end of the day.
Anyone remember Rodents Revenge? That's what I first thought of when I heard the name Mouse House. I'd love to see that on WW. I had it on my computer back in the Windows 3.1 days along with Chips Challenge and Tetris on some Microsoft game pack. I don't think any of them were original Microsoft games; I know Chips Challenge was an Atari port and Tetris...so I suppose it could happen.
Sorry to go so off topic. I'm hoping the review will show some similarities, because I was addicted to that game as a kid for a while.
@Sean: Yes, the lack of a scoring system (even Time trials would help!) is a BIG hit for me. This feels a bit dry and it overpowers what good is in the game.
I'm not saying I don't enjoy it, it's just that it has some flaws that I can't overlook. And yeah, that's great that you can find much to enjoy about it.
