More Sonic Game Rumours Surface Online After 'Sonic Toys Party' Leaks

Sonic Heroes was an alright game. Played it on GameCube a lot during the day. I would rather have the Sonic Advance games on modern consoles to be honest though.

I have Sonic Heroes GameCube version but I neglected the game as the game was too hard for me to pass the certain stages.

I would kill for a sonic hero’s remake or port I just want to play the game.

My first thought was 'why THIS game?!' assuming it's true. I'm a huge Adventure fangirl 😅 I went back on Heroes after years, back at uni. Once I got to the Casino levels I got stuck and very fed up so I packed it in. The music is amazing, Team Chaotix are fun and I have fond memories of somehow finishing the game but I'm not sure I need to play it again anytime soon 😅

This is an incredibly odd choice. We have Sonic Colors on Switch and soon Generations. The Adventure games are kind of the last highly-renowned 3D Sonic games that aren't on modern consoles yet. I'm sure Heroes has its fans just like Unleashed, and I personally liked Sonic Lost World and would happily welcome a Switch port. But these are all objectively more niche games that aren't revered across the board like Colors, Generations, and Adventure are. Really bizarre. I haven't played Heroes myself, but I get the impression it's one of those games where if you don't have nostalgia from playing it as a child, there's probably not much of a reason to play it now.

Here's hoping we get the Adventure games at some point. I'm not sure if they're for me, but I'd at least like to give the first one in particular a try. The second one seems pretty tedious--the Knuckles levels look frustrating as all heck. But I would still give it a go, and fans of Adventure have waited long enough. I'm sure they'd be happy with even just a direct port instead of a full-on remake. Sega can't be dumb enough to not know the demand is there. The controls seem pretty jank compared to more modern Sonic titles, so I would prefer a remake that refines Sonic's movement.

@Not_Soos I think there's something causing SEGA to avoid the Dreamcast as a whole. If I recall correctly, the only Dreamcast games that have been released post-2013 were Shenmue remasters for PS4/XB1 in 2018.

SONIC HEROOOOOES!

One of my favorite games of all time. The 12 playable characters with the team mechanics. The soft reboot to the classic games after the story heavy adventure games from the stages and atmosphere. The characters and their banter. The Metal Sonic design (pre-transformation.) And the final boss.

I AM GUSHING!

....Though I'm cautious on how they'll handle this...if it's even real.

I was out of the loop for awhile, and i just learned the Switch is getting Sonic Generations as a part of a sequel.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a Sonic fan, but i loved Sonic Generations. Finally!
Oh yeah, i don’t even know what Sonic Heroes is.

THIS will be the great Sonic that they take their time with and really button up...lol

Heroes before Adventure is a wild choice. That said, at least Adventure is available on PC and Xbox so it's not completely stuck like Heroes is.

The game where instead of further polishing what they started on Dreamcast they threw it in the trash and replaced it with a 3D platformer where you play as a a stick of melting butter rocketing down a sewage pipe that’s full of death pits.

The Metal Sonic re-design that appears for about 10-20 seconds in the entire game you mean? It’s nothing like the classic games it actually removes or severely nerfed gameplay elements of the classics that Adventure got right like the spindash and slope jumps , it uses visual aesthetics of the classic games but that’s it. The banter is absolute ear torture and mostly awful written clunkers like “look at all those Eggman’s robots”.

@SalvorHardin "Banter," lol. As soon as any Sonic character spoke out loud is about where I dropped off with Sonic. But that's pretty much when the games went from decent to trash anyway...and into the third dimension.

@Grumblevolcano Midori, who has a 100% track record so far, has stated Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio are both receiving remakes accompanying the planned live-service games teased at the Game Awards

A favorite of mine can admit to it flaws (like hard mode isn't as hard and not much worth the effort to A ranking the entire cast, special stage controls is a bit jank, and you're better off going to flight formation when you're somewhat on bottomless pit territory.) but still love it nonetheless.

It's not just classic stage looks and pacing, I say the entire music has that genesis feel good energy to tie it together, The Main menu DAWG! The banter each get their own variation depending on who and where the character is at on the stage; overly cheezy, charming. (the cheeze it's at its best here. The games afterwards try and fail to copy it.)

But hey, to each to each their own.

@shonenjump86 Sonic Heroes was a continuation of the Adventure series. It is one of my favorite Sonic games. However, due to the rushed development time and small team, it definitely has some funky glitches. Hopefully they polish it up to what it truly should play like. As for the Adventure series, I am hoping of a remake that also fixes issues. All three are wonderful Sonic games with potential.

As much as I would welcome a Heroes remake, I rather keep my expectations as low as possible until (or if) something official actually comes out of this rumor.

I wouldn’t be against this. I do have this on PS2 but it would be cool to see it on a portable console.

I might actually buy this if they a) fix the janky collision (unlikely) or b) not force you to restart the entire level when you (inevitably) fall to your death. Sonic Heroes was the game that finally broke me and made me swear off the 3D titles altogether.

Now that I found out, the new Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi will be live service games, I completely lost interest in buying new Sega products.

I guess finding a used copy of Sonic Heroes should not be too hard.

@LikelySatan Yeah I think pre-DC Sonic appeal largely came from an ambiguous 'cool' to the character maintained (outside the cartoon) by keeping him quiet. Like the perspective of Sonic being a rebellious spirit or anti-establishment as much as heroic. Which became irreconcilable since he started talking in games.

The moment he started talking in the games that completely melted away to show Sonic's 'cool' was being a hokey goody-goody who uses embarrassingly corny slang.

I think unlike the cartoons which were non-canon aimed at kids, Sonic games are meant for a wider audience, they likely alienated a lot of the players with Sonic's characterisation in Adventure onwards.

Am I the only one who is getting tired of these endless remakes? Whether it's about video games, music, movies, series, books, or comics - almost everything is just reheated once again. Wouldn't it be time for a bit more originality? It's frustrating to see how our society seemingly can't create something truly new any more.

I feel like they crossed a line of no return and will end up making worse and worse products, that will ultimately just feel wrong anyway.

@RareFan No you are not the only one, but if you say stuff like that in the comments prepare to be met with a large amount of fans defending this seemingly irreversible entertainment paradigm.

I gave up commenting on all of these ports / remakes because I don't have the energy. It is a sad thing but in the end it does mean I save money.

Sonic Heroes would be a mistake; releasing TWO console ports / remakes back-to-back. I am very thankful for Sonic Superstars and Frontiers (even though they are average) so it isn't like there has been a dearth of new entries.... but it could be time to take a break.

EDIT: I do have to chuckle though seeing people getting (I think truly) excited over playing THE SAME GAME again just on different hardware. It really boggles my mind. (see the comment above).

@Not_Soos I do think Heroes has more to offer from a remake than Adventure 1 and 2. They reuse a LOT of level design, a remake could give the different teams their own levels.

SA1 and 2 on the other hand would be fine with a more Crash/Spyro approach, small quality of life tweaks but overall the same content from the originals, just new graphics.

@Dr_Lugae I dunno what character assassination you're talking about. If anything, most of the mystique you the old americans had about Sonic was all heavy-handed localization, rather than the inherent desire of the original creators, which was made harder to keep when they started fleshing out his personality in the games themselves.
Post-DC up until Colors have his coolness defined by his sincerity. He genuinely was a cool guy you wouldn't mind being around and actually had respectable traits about him. He wasn't about "take down the establishment". He was about balance, as he took down gods of nature as he did Eggman. Sonic was about the nomadic lifestyle.

@RareFan I can see where you’re coming from, especially with Sonic when we’ve already had a mainline remake so recently and another one on the horizon. In general, I think ports and remakes are an important part of game preservation, but…Sonic Heroes is pretty well preserved, honestly. And really, most Sonic games are.
